Outstanding video Nick. You really nailed it with this one. I would like to express my most sincere condolences to the family members, friends and loved ones of the people who perished in this tragic accident. I also hope the pilot makes a speedy recovery and will be able to somehow move on with his life after experiencing such a horrific incident. Many thanks to the NYPD Harbor Patrol, Aviation, ESU, FDNY Marine Units, Fire Fighters, EMT's, Paramedics and Rescue Medics who gave their all to try and save everyone aboard.

Excellent footage! Great coverage of the rescue ops on the river - not just a bunch of units sitting on the street or staging. Radio traffic audio appreciated!

I don't advise many people to get on these tourist helicopters especially flying over large bodies of water if you have not had at least one underwater helicopter egress training session not saying it's guaranteed to save you but it definitely will help you egress out of a aircraft while it's underwater. The people who usually get underwater egress training are the military ,offshore oil workers and Medevac EMS Crews who fly in helicopters people should consider taking a an underwater Helicopter egress training course if they insist on riding in these helicopters especially flying over large bodies of water

Mike Hamilton these tourist helicopters especially in New York City have not had a great record because I remember when I was young going on the helicopter company that operated out of 34th Street FDR Drive back in 85 they had a few crashes into the river they're not safe
@BROOKLYN19776 жыл бұрын
Yes my dad and I also went on one of these helicopter tours back in 85 near 34th Street and I believe that they were under a different name it wasn't Liberty and there helicopters I believe were painted red and white stripe type of colors but I definitely also remember taking one of these death traps back in 85 which I was young and excited what I know now I don't think I would get back on one of these tour helicopters in New York City area

@@Mike6867 You take a "death chance" evey time you get on the road. You are more likely to die there than in a helicopter.

my only question is before the Flight Did the Pilot explain how to evacuate during an emergency? Hmmmm
@tommyd15426 жыл бұрын
It's mandatory for all pilots or flight attendants to explain how to evacuate any type of aircraft during an emergency. Instead of wearing regular seat belts the passengers requested to be harnessed in so they could fly with the doors open in order take unobstructed photos of N.Y. City and it's landmarks. Did the pilot explain to the passengers how to remove the complex harness systems in case of emergency? There's only one person still alive who knows the answer to both our questions..
@Mike68676 жыл бұрын

Why the hell do you need all these units on land. All you is marine and helos. The rest are utterly useless. Why send a collapse unit, multiple ladders, SOC and Commo support, engines..what the hell. They're just spectators
@jonathanspinks92424 жыл бұрын
The majority of the fire suppression rigs responding are probably marine rescue team members
