Murphy..... Dems do not fight.. Merrick Garland is the big part of it, and blame is on Obama picking him then Biden allowing him to stay on. I blame all 3 but i also blame dem party for being so slow meak deluded and indecisive.. Never miss a chance to show their meakness and wrong calculations when it comes to fighting against REpublicans or actually fighting for Democracy, Rule of law, and citizens. What we have today is allot on Those 3 men.. and dems fail strategies. Why would you keep Merrick Garland so long when he was obviously so wrong? Its disgusting.

I moved to Connecticut from Florida in the beginning of 2012. I have voted for senator Murphy as often as I have been able to despite the fact that I had my voting rights stripped for me in florida. This man is exemplary of what good government is and though Blumenthal is a bit more conservative, I'm proud to have him too. Please come back. You and everyone else that are kind and loving will always be welcome here despite the fact that people are a little crusty when you first meet them. After you get to know them you find out that the salt of the earth, and if they're not hopefully they'll move to Florida.

This was written in the time of the Tsar, though Rachmaninoff lived well past the Russian Revolution. Russia never has gotten quite over that upset. If still alive I am sure Rachmaninoff would give the Tsar, the USSR, Trump, and Putin alike a big "screw you" and the USA a big "what the hot heck ever happened to you?" (Yes, I think even the Tsar had a finger in the blame for MAGA. As citizens we have a responsibility to understand intimately how the government actually works instead of falling for lies and misinformation. If we don’t, we don’t deserve a democratic republic.

Great interview. I will say is this: As an older liberal Democrat I have been very sensitive to complaints about my party regarding “culture war” issues. As a older person who vividly remembers the political rancor that took place in my country in the decade between 1966 and 1976, I am surprised in retrospect at how much “culture war” turbulence the country of my youth was able to absorb without the wheels coming off the truck. In 2024, looking at what Trump represented, I really expected whatever support was going to come from older and more moderate swing state Republicans and independents to count for a lot more “oomph” than actually materialized. I am still stunned at how well this felonious insurrectionist who tried to derail the peaceful transfer of power actually did.

I think appearing on platforms like the Nelk Boys and the Joe Rogan podcast gave Trump an edge. I hate Trump, but I have to admit it was a smart move to go on the Joe Rogan podcast. That podcast had 50M+ views, far surpassing any mainstream media outlet. That is a massive audience. We need our own Joe Rogan on the left.
@Hgcfdghjjvvc

Disagree. We need to rid neoliberalism from the party. Bernie’s agenda. The policies and a strong messenger are the focus. And going on Joe Rogan won’t matter. It’s economic populism. We could have had Bernie for 8 years.

@@HgcfdghjjvvcI agree 100% with Bernie’s agenda. In fact, I was rooting for him in 2016 and 2020 over Hillary and Biden. However, we also have to realize that a lot of people don’t trust mainstream media anymore. Joe Scarborough and Mika just further proved my point-they don’t have a spine. Democrats, independents and Republicans are going elsewhere now, like podcasts, independent media, etc.
@David-mk5yq
@David-mk5yq Күн бұрын
@@Hgcfdghjjvvc Going on a podcast with 50M+ views can DEFINITELY make a difference. Also, I wasn’t referring to Joe Rogan himself-I was talking about having our own version of Joe Rogan on the left. I think Sen Murphy hit the nail on the head. Dems needed a more anti-establishment message and to spend more time describing the problem rather than just explaining specific solutions (especially when the solutions are relatively moderate rather than bold).
@ColoradoHippie
@ColoradoHippie Күн бұрын
I think we do need bold solutions, but maybe not in the way of changing government programs. I'd be extremely in favor of a bold law to overturn Citizens United and put limits on big money in campaign finance. Government can't be responsive to the people it's supposed to work for when it's so reliant on the funding of huge companies and billionaires.
@belladonna5012
@belladonna5012 Күн бұрын
@@ColoradoHippie The problem with Citizens United is that it was a ruling that restricting the entry of money into politics is an unconstitutional infringement of the First Amendment. That means it's going to be virtually impossible to deal with it without stacking the courts. Either that or waiting generations for an opportunity to replace right-wing judges, if we last that long (a lot of us wouldn't).
@ColoradoHippie
@ColoradoHippie Күн бұрын
@@belladonna5012 It would take a Constitutional Amendment. Difficult, but not impossible since it's not a partisan issue. If we the people don't make our wishes known, then it definitely won't happen. Signing a petition may or may not help. It certainly won't hurt. Also, I don't know the legalities but there are limits on personal campaign contributions. If "corporations are people, too" then it seems to follow that congress could cap corporate contributions and remove loopholes that allow for dark money contributions. I believe Senator Sheldon Whitehouse is working on this iirc.

I compare the Democratic Party to responsible parents and the GOP to teenagers who like to party and have fun. The parents are the ones who focus on what’s important. They are stable, dependable and care. The teenagers look like a fun time. Love Senator Murphy. He is so relatable. And you can tell he really cares about his constituents, Democracy, and preparing to stand up to Trump. I think that is the most important thing. Standing up to Trump. By the time the midterms come along people will be voting against Republicans and for Democrats. So we better get some good candidates going.

Sen Murphy is dead on the money. It’s all about tending to the economic interests of the working class. When you do that, democracy will take care of itself.

I got called by the Democratic Senatorial Committee yesterday... asking for money. NOT asking for my opinion or feedback. The woman talking to me was condescending and seemed to resent me. The problem is completely obvious.

It's quite simple. The Democratic Party has a diverse tent. Progressives want to go further left and Moderates want to go further to the center. We need to unite among these 2 demographics.

@@JackthestripperTotally agree. And this means that we emphasize these things to get elected. The other things is that the hard left has to stop eating its own and the center left has to realize they need the far left.

Thank you Chris Murphy for going on the Bullwark. I hope to see more interviews on social media networks like Bullwark, Meidas Touch, Brian Tyler Cohen, Hopium Chronicles, etc. WE need to create a left wing biosphere of collaborative players, and leave corporate Main Stream Media in the dust, as they have failed us miserably. PS. build a non-sis bathroom in congress and make the problem go away. PPS, Chris Murphy for Senate leader, Schumer should turn over the reins,

6:42 this is so true. I kept seeing the White House account post some law that Biden signed, only to think "I had not heard he was working on this, or know anything about it, or anything about the problem this is meant to fix". It popping up out of nowhere felt like an uncalled for solution that did not have the emotional relief than being alerted head on early on that there was a problem that could be followed along to a solution.

Murphy has been one of the most articulate, talented Dem for years. Part of a “deep” bench that was stifled by Biden’s old age farewell tour-he couldn’t leave the stage after 12 bleeping years in the White House!

I don't think you can reach the core of Trumps base. The truly ignorant and perpetually angry base can only be reached by someone who's willing to be like Trump. That's not disdain that's my observation from living with these people. They are not bad people but they are feeling desperate, brainwashed by right wing propaganda and resentful. You can pick off his more marginal supporters and most of the non aligned voters which should be enough in such ridiculously tight races. The next Trump created economic disaster should give Democrats their opportunity provided they have learned from this election.

This is the best response I have seen from a representative outside discussing the race issue. This money flow was my main issue and it was laid out well about economics and corporations, plus the serious nature of his dystopia. I loved Harris' messages myself but...please keep fighting.

Consolidation of corporations and wealth is a problem. The wealthy having too much say in government, is a problem. Unlimited campaign spending, is a problem. Corporations are not people.

Lack of competition many sectors of the economy, is a problem. Regulations written by larger companies to exclude competition of smaller companies by increasing the cost of doing business to the extent that a small business can’t survive, is a problem. The separation of the governed from the government due to the time required to raise money simply to be able to compete to keep their job, is a problem. Anyone in elected office shouldn’t have to spend more than say 10% of their time raising campaign funds.
