What do you think about the Concept II rowing machine instead of re bike?
@KneeReplacementTherapists2 ай бұрын
The rowing machine can also be used as an effective tool pre / post knee replacement for knee range of motion and general aerobic health and conditioning.

Good question 😊

I've found that starting where I can comfortably get a full rotation is best initial seat position for me. Then I move the seat forward a notch after about 5 minutes or so, then another notch forward after a second 5 minutes. The bike helps loosen up my knee and allows me to bend it more.

Thank you for sharing, this is a good strategy to utilize... let the knee warm-up a little and then slowly move the seat closer as tolerated. Best wishes with your continued recovery and rehab.

Another PT on you tube said that a stationary bike is very damaging to tkr patients. I’m confused.

I don’t know their reasoning but overall I would disagree with this sentiment.

I bought a recumbent bike ahead of my knee replacement 11.7.23. I had pre surgery PT and used one there. Seemed like a good option for post surgery rehab vs all the other PT exercises. My scheduled rehab program will be ending soon. Would it be ok to just use the recumbent in place of all the other suggested exercises or maybe suggest a couple i should adding to my routine...thx..manny

The recumbent bike is a great option for continued exercises following your discharge from rehab. I would recommend continuing with some additional exercises that focus on strengthening. Some good ones to continue to perform including sit to stands or supported body weight squats, step ups, side stepping, heel raises...think standing exercises that incorporate multiple muscle groups.

I love this channel. Thank you for your clear instructions. I’m 10 week post surgery from breaking my patella. I’m trying a stationary bike but cannot do the full cycle as pain is too strong. I can do the reverse cycle but without pain. I would love to avoid any scar tissue manipulation. Just wondering what your thoughts are. Any videos recommending stretches or exercises to help with this? I’ve been increasing my massages of the leg using castor oil plus hydrating, Vit C, etc. Also bought a wave tool and cups to try and help with scar tissue breakdown. So appreciate your time.

Meant to say I can do the reverse cycle but still with a fair bit of pain.

My best is advice is consistency and a lot of varied exercises for knee range of motion. There are playlists on this channel with videos all dedicated to knee bending / flexion. Be sure to check those videos out. Think of a happy medium with intensity, you want enough to get benefits but not too much to cause significant aggravation of pain and symptoms. Hope this helps!
