@enlocc86 Not really in the ankle. It is more at the front of the shin. although may feel that it radiates down towards the front of the ankle.

@kittymcflitty Stretching is fine whilst there is still pain on walking/running, as long as the stretches aren't painful (they may feel achey or tight). You should avoid strengthening until you are painfree when walking throughout the day. Again these should be pain free to perform

should I wait until I feel no more pain or aches in my shins before starting these stretches? i've just taken a week and a half off running because of shin splints and am doing the whole RICE thing. went for a five min gentle run yesterday and had to stop :-( any advice? thanks

@xfacekickerx There are a number of things you can try from insoles, to shin splints compression wraps. You should also make sure you have supportive, cushioning footwear and stretch your calves several times a day. Sports massage may also help, as may taping the shin before exercise. i got rid of my shin splints about 4 weeks ago but they have came back and i only run on turf i dont understand have and idea's what i can buy for them? thanks
