I would really love a video for workout with scoliosis, for people who needs to love weight.

Our workouts have a range of difficulty (beginner, moderate, and advanced) and all movement is helpful to work towards fitness and strength, which may eventually change your body composition. Weight loss depends on many factors such as diet, sleep, stress, hormone balance, movement routines, and more, but we encourage you to develop a consistent exercise routine for all the general benefits of exercise!

Also important to note, does the person already have surgical fusion? Try to include that fact, please. I had first fusion in 1967 … and then again in 2003 because my spine continued to curve below the original fusion. So I am fused, with hardware, from T4 to S1. I also have “flat back syndrome” as I had no lordosis curve after last fusion, which was a “failed fusion”. All this greatly limits me on mobility and what I can do safely.
@TSCConnect2 жыл бұрын
Hi! Thanks for that comment and for sharing your experience. Yes I should have specified more clearly at the start that things change if you have fusion. Later in the video I mention that we actually got so many questions about fusion that we’ll make a whole separate Q&A video on it - so please prep your questions to post when we launch the poll in our ‘Community’ tab and on our Instagram @thescoliclinic or @thescoliosiscollective ☺️

What does TSC stand for? Do you have a website with more information about your background and where your approach to exercising with scoliosis comes from? Are you Schroth based in your training? I'm curious as I think your videos are a great bridge between PT and fitness. We specialize in scoliosis but are always looking for more fun and fitness based avenues to offer our patients. Thanks for all your work here.

Hello! TSC stands for The ScoliClinic (Vancouver, Canada) and The Scoliosis Collective (Gold Coast, Australia). I’m a Schroth C2-Certified Physiotherapist, and others at our clinics are Schroth-trained as well. You’re right - our videos are meant to improve accessibility to scoliosis information and workouts across the world, without crossing the boundary of giving medical advice. Our workouts are meant to be exactly as you described - easy-to-follow fitness exercises using all scoliosis-friendly (neutral spine) positions and cues. So great to connect with other Schroth therapists, please let us know if there’s anything you specifically want to see as a resource for your clients! -Physio Andrea

I just found this channel! It has only just occurred to me to look into scoliosis exercises and stretches after going to a chiropractor for my back... What are your thoughts on meditating and scoliosis? body form suggestions, time duration, etc. I find it really peaceful, but I sometimes worry about my leaning, or my sitting position, throughout the session; I don't want to make things worse or aggravate the scoliosis. Thanks for what you do and making this content!

Hi Cristina, thanks for following our channel! Meditation and mindfulness may be helpful for overall stress levels and wellbeing, and the approach and routine and times and focuses really depend person to person. However, we have thought about potentially uploading some body scans and guided mindfulness… so if that’s something you’re interested in, please let us know and keep liking and sharing to support our efforts! As for positions - you’re right, you’d want to be in as neutral spine positions as you can. Lying on your back with knees bent is a great start as you can fully relax without having to worry about collapsing into your curve.

@@TSCConnect Lying on my back with my knees bent is so comfortable, its validating to have you recommend it for this activity as well. I'd love a guided a meditation and body scan; thanks for your insights!

Does exercise, specifically back exercises, increase your chances of better correction when it comes to getting spinal fusion surgery? Just want to know if the likelihood of better fusion is higher when you work out your back muscles leading up to the surgery?
@TSCConnect Жыл бұрын
For any major medical procedure like spinal fusion, the more strength, flexibility, cardiovascular fitness, and body awareness you have going into the surgery, the better the chances of rehabilitation after the surgery. That’s why many people do ‘pre-hab’ for knee replacements for example. On an individual basis, please ask your surgeon for specific recommendations. Here at The ScoliClinic in Vancouver, we very much support pre-habilitation leading up to spine surgery!

Do you know of a resource on KZbin that is safe and focuses on heavy weight lifting with scoliosis ?
@TSCConnect Жыл бұрын
Hi Lori, what questions do you specifically have about heavy lifting? Or are you looking for workouts or? Let us know!
@loriwilliamson5738 Жыл бұрын
@@TSCConnect I'm looking for workouts. Maybe an online KZbin channel to follow from a trainer who actually has scoliosis and lifts heavy. I want to keep the gains I've made so far, but after a couple of neck issues I've become conscious that I need to make sure I'm training safely. I'm not training for competition but I do focus on gains. The info you mention at Minute 5:13 is AWESOME. Just looking for some visual to follow. Thank you so much for sharing this scoliosis info and wanting to help us with scoli.

Hi there, recently went to the doctor after experiencing back pain and discovered that I have a progressive curve(thoracic scoliosis concave to the right to be specific).The doctor said to just look up exercises on KZbin but there are so many that I'm overwhelmed and not sure where to begin .What exercises would you recommend since as there are so many?
@TSCConnect8 ай бұрын
Hi Collin - you've come to the right place! Our whole channel is designed with workouts that are friendly for scoliosis, meaning all the exercises are done in neutral spine and don't involve bending or twisting of the spine and these are good for general fitness in a safe way. However, if you have a progressive curve, it's important to find a scoliosis-trained physiotherapist (like someone who understands The Schroth Method) who can give you exercises specific to your own curve, to try to slow curve progression.

How to avoid the ribs to flare during scoliosis exercises?
@TSCConnect2 жыл бұрын
Hi Shelina, the goal is to bring awareness to your body positioning to keep your ribcage neutral and not arch your back when doing movements. However, this is what a scoliosis-trained Physiotherapist can help you with - so if you have someone in your area that can work with you and give you tips for your body, that'd be the best!
