Yeah, it's a 10-minute ad. And he still managed to display his shallow understanding of the science in that time. Less flat-footedness in barefoot walkers is not necessarily due to their walking in barefeet, but the fact that people who walk in barefeet tend to spend more time walking on softer surfaces rather than concrete. We are not adapted to be constantly walking on hard surfaces, so the right shoes will help most of us more than going barefoot will. But yeah if you are running through the prairies chasing rabbits all day I guess he's right.

I'd like to say thank you for these videos. I suffer from plantar fasciitis and bone spurs from working on my feet. I tried two podiatrists over the years thus have had orthodontics, made it all worse. The information you are sharing is priceless. American Drs don't take time to educate their patients, it's in and out the door. I've ordered toe separators and am going to buy barefoot shoes as soon as I have money to. I've worked barefoot two days, against rules but I told my boss it's that or I'm calling off as I can't walk. So next check shoes! For now stretches and toe spacers daily. Thank you from the bottom of my heart to my mending feet!

At 31 years old, I’ve had flat feet as long as I can remember. Never had any issues until now. Heel pain. Low back pain. And I have a sideways curvature in my spine that I just discovered leading to tightness in just one side of my back. I hope switching to barefoot shoes and strengthening my feet will help alleviate these problems

I've had high arches but fallen ones as well. I am in the 95th percentile for high arches in over 50 countries. Genetically I have huge calfs and never worked out as a kid. Also, I was told by chiropractors to wear arches and shoes in the house. Today I have weak feet, fallen arches and bent knees. I'm 22 years old and this video explained everything perfectly so that I understood how my past issues caused this to happen over time. I now have back, hip, knee issues at 22. Exercise and stay healthy please. Losing weight significantly helps too!

You’ve no idea how much your advise has helped me since youtube recommended this channel. For years I have endured a bunion on my right foot with my small toes joining in so to speak, it was embarrassing to look at and meant I couldn’t wear any type of open shoe as the large toe tab would be uncomfortable. After one episode I looked down how I walked and ran only to seeing my right foot was angling inwards from a weak ankle causing my bunion, it was literally a eureka moment and I knew it could be solved by myself. Well just want to say thanks I have renewed hope, Merry Christmas.

I have a curious point I personally have some low arches, which don't affect me usually, but when I searched for information, I noticed that many people would suggest that we wear shoes with arch support (that is, shoes with protrusions on the arch of the insole), saying It can help balance the force on the soles of the feet and relieve fatigue on the soles of the feet. At the same time, I also found that some people think that we should try to avoid shoes with arch support, because arch support will replace or reduce the force of our original muscles, causing muscle degeneration or even atrophy. What I'm curious about is: 1. Which of the above statements is more correct or has more correct parts? 2. If don’t consider the problems of flat feet or high arches that affect your life, for people with normal arches or people with low arches like me but the problem is not serious, should try to choose shoes with arch support or Shoes without arch support? Hope to know your opinion

I'm doing exercises, also I recommend walking on gravel or like a rocky beach, trails etc. and any uneven surface so you can train and use your feet the way they are supposed to be used. Barefoot shoes aren't good for walking on concrete. They offer 0 support and there's 0 benefit from walking on such a flat, hard surface. I think some cushion can help a little bit. Either way, you should always look forward to walking on uneven surfaces. I also think of getting toe socks so I can walk in them unshod on gravel etc.

Fix? I have 'fallen' arches. I am developmentally flat-footed, not congenitally flat-footed. I've been told by many doctors that the arch is ultimately supported by ligaments. And... ligaments are kinda like an elastic band. If you stretch it too far for too long a period of time it won't return to its original (shorter) length. My understanding is that you can't do that with any kind of exercise. It requires surgery, and there are a variety of surgeries I've heard about to deal with this issue. Not minor surgery, however. I believe what you're talking about is mitigating many of the adverse consequences of having fallen arches. I'm not sure I'd call that a 'fix', however. Once one stops doing the exercises, after some period of time the arches are just going to go back to whatever the ligaments will accommodate. Are you claiming that your exercises can restore the lost elasticity of the supporting ligaments and permanently shorten them up?

I’m flat footed, and have been affected by this my entire life. Being born and raised in Hawaii, I’ve been barefoot while inside the house as well as when I played outside. I’ve since then moved from Hawaii to California. Even in the mainland, we still predominantly are barefoot indoors; even going outside for minor tasks like check the mail, get something from the car, etc…barefoot. I’ve come across these videos because KZbin (Google) must have found out that I am suffering with bunions, so doing what the algorithm does, she goes, “hey, you might want to watch this…”. My bunion (predominantly on my left foot) is most likely caused by my flat footedness. In my case, where flat footedness may be genetic issue, can this be corrected?

What would the recommended steps be if walking bare feet gets really uncomfortable? Gotta stand for hours a day, and I couldn't fathom doing that without a cushioned, supported shoe arch
@sparra3819
@sparra3819 2 жыл бұрын
Though I don't have to stand for hours, I understand the punishment of a hard surface on the feet (or perhaps not the strongest of feet). What I find best is alternating between footware options during the day and perhaps removing shoes to stretch and relax feet while put up and at rest. All that said, I never thought I could walk longer distances without my high-end gel runners, yet now find I go quite well in a pair of sport sandals, like Merrell.... all are arched mind you, though the sandal, less so.

Thank you so much for confirming it for me that I DONT have flat feet! I always felt so frustrated to see that my feet seemed to have what it takes to be arched, yet no physician/podiatrist, nor foot and ankle specialist was ever able to tell me why I had flat feet while, yet, I always left an arched-looking foot print on the ground, another person could always slide a paper under my arch while i stood barefoot, and wore out my shoes on the out step (supinate) rather than wearing them out on the instep (like when you primate). And what’s worse is that even when I told them these observations they would simply brush off my concerns and pretty much tell me to suck it up and wear inserts because “there’s no way of correcting this issue”. I even asked them if there was a way to strengthen the muscles of the feet, and they’d would immediately say NO. I wonder if these “doctors” have some secret business with the shoe insert companies! I don’t believe in conspiracy theories, but to see them constantly insist in the no existence of a solution other than inserts, makes it hard not to want to think of shady underground deals!

We are all born with flat feet. The foot arches develop by the age of around 6. However, if the arches fail to develop properly by that age, it may be a sign that there were certain lifestyle factors in place at the time which were not conducive for proper foot development. For example, there are studies which show that when children spend the majority of their time wearing shoes before the age of 6, they have a significantly greater chance of having flat feet in life comparatively to those who were predominantly barefoot. Despite all this, the foot arches can still be stimulated and developed later in life using the steps presented in this video.

You need to stretch & strengthen the muscles on the front (shin) & back (calf) of your foot. Weak muscles actually contract to become shorter & that's how they deal with being weak. Think of a rubberband, if you make it shorter, it seems stronger. Either way, your shins/calves muscles are tighter because they're weak &/or havnt been stretched in a long time. This results in them pulling on the foot incorrectly & then the shape of it is distorted, the arch does form because the toes & heal are being pulled up by tight muscles. Also there is the footwear itself which restricts the proper function of the foot. Sneakers with raised heels artificially make your foot roll & the foot loses this function. Also the tight toe boxes on most shoes prevent you to fully rotate from the hell unto the toes. Basically I would do 2 things, get yourself 0 shoes/sneakers. These have the sole perfectly flat where they dont raise the rear of the foot & the toe boxes are wide so your toes have space to spread out & function properly when you walk. You want to simulate bare feet walking on grass/beach. Second, stretch & strengthen your shin & calf muscle, the lower portion of your leg. Your ankle has very limited motion & your stride is off.
