I've just realized this week why my ankles, knees, and feet are hurting and aching. My primary doctor said "welcome to being almost 50 years old because arthritis is giving you a preview".. Then he suggested orthotics. Other YT videos gave animated descriptions. But you are the 1st to illustrate pronation/flat feet in real time. Your detailed explanations while modeling what the body looks like before and after problems with pronation are so appreciated. I know you uploaded this 2yrs ago, but I just want to thank you for showing viewers what Pronation should and should not look like. Thank you!

This was really informative. Thank you so much. I broke my right leg near the ankle when I was 20 (i'm 32 now) and did not do physical rehabilitation. The break was bad and put me out for about 6 months because I received a plate and seven screws on my right fibula. Because I did not do rehab, I had to relearn to walk by myself and I ended up with a fallen arch on my left foot, which has caused gait and pronation issues for years. I realized I was walking on the outside edges of my feet for a long time to compensate for the weakness of other muscles. Recently, I have developed issues with my hip on the right side, and my knees are slightly knocked. I hope that with your advice and information I can get myself back. I haven't been able to run or play hockey without form issues and discomfort for a long time. I miss the days when I was young and could run and play sports without a care in the world.

When I was a young boy my left foot turned in a little bit. Enough to have my mother notice and take me to the doctor's. The doctor said that I may need a boot to correct it. I was scared of being mocked at school so I consciously would force my left foot to angle "correctly" so it didn't appear that my foot was angling inward. Now that I'm jogging I'm finding pain and I'm sure now it's because of all these compensations I wasn't even aware I was doing anymore. This one video helped me understand what may be my issue and I will proceed to do some of the exercise drills. Thanks for being so thorough with your explanations just the video I needed.

This helps prove that mechanics matter. I switched to barefoot shoes and my left got much better and my right foot has improved, but still some issues persist.

Your explanation on the cause is very true. I have flat feet and I wore supportive arch shoes for about 3 years. I wear them all the time. I dont have pain and flat feet any more. But then I realize that my arch muscles are extremely weak. Because the arch support is too good and my muscles were never used. And I have pronated feet now. dude, thank you so much. I've been dealing with weird foot/knee/leg pains for like 7 months now, & about 5 months ago i started feeling like my ankles were rolling inwards, knees rolling in, & feet splaying out. I know this sounds silly but its been a big source of depression & anixety since then because exercise is really important for my mental health & I've been practically bed ridden for months trying not to make it worse, & this along with binge eating and self esteem problems is a terrible combination. Plus the terrible anxiety that my feet & legs are becoming deformed, and the thought that it could be permanent & i may never be able to run or comfortably walk again. For a bit I thought it was PTTD, but a podiatrist told me that wasn't it, so it was just more confusion but after more research I found this & it really seems like it matches my problem. Gonna check out your exercises & drills to correct this, I can't express my gratitude enough cuz this could genuinely help get my life back on track, i feel like i have hope for the first time in a while. much love

Ive been going to a podiatrist and physical therapy but the podiatrist is a joke and hardly analyzes whats wrong. She just throws custom orthotics at my issue and leaves it at that. I’ve had this problem from playing soccer a lot when I was young passing the ball you actually over pronate your foot repeatedly which eventually leads to your foot staying in that overly pronated position… this caused hip pain on the affected side (piriformis) syndrome . ( the foot flares out , the knee rotates inward, with the femur which led to hip pain)

Wow! I have been to several doctors and physios and not one have them have suggested this. My right foot is facing outwards and the outside hits the floor first so it turns every time is hits the floor. My right hip is also very bad causing me sometimes to not even move and my right shoulder is giving me problems. And I come on and this. I ran in to tel my family. I found what’s wrong with me hahha. Thankyou and I will definitely be looking into the next steps. Great! Thankyou!

Hi Eric. So I’ve started the 6 week course to get started which Joshua suggested. I was wondering what to do next. Do I concentrate on the ankle or the hip. I am having terrible pain in hip. With your videos are they specific to my to my injury or do I just do all of them? Because surely some of them with cause me damage. Is it possible to do a consultation with you and mabye you could tell me exactly which exercises to do or do I just do all the excercises? I’m just looking for a little bit of guidance if that’s okay? Joshua has my email. Thanks

Excellent…I started having pain in my glutes when squatting could not figure out why. Then I started looking at my feet and hip rotation and noticed my overpronation which I had no idea what was called until I watched this video. Thanks so much!!!!

I've been watching your videos for years coach Eric. Back when it was Eric Wong MMA channel. I have extremely open hips and it's really good for headkicks, but i have noticed pain in my right knee after playing football (soccer). When i look how i walk my right foot is definitely overpronated and this video explains the physiology perfectly. I think i must be lacking internal rotation at the hip and probably make it worse with all the splits/hip stretches i do without fixing the root cause. Thanks for this.

hello, i was wondering if your ankle mobility exercise would help re-align my ankles as well as fix my foot pronation. my ankles roll outwards from my feet a lot and i believe it is due to the over probation of my feet. thanks

My mind is awakened by the restricted hip IR causing the pronation. My feet feel strong. My quads are strong - I have lifted heavy weight for years. This is just such a fine balance.

I'm glad I found these videos as I have had bad feet for years I don't have the bridge in my feet so I naturally walk with my feet twisted outwards to compensate. Also my legs look really out of line to my feet like my calves have twisted in a different direction slightly but so noticeable. I will definitely be giving these techniques a go hopefully I'll see some difference.

I've had flat feet since I was little, and was always made to think that it is a deformity. Last year I discovered fore foot walking. I basically had to relearn how to walk, since modern walking is all wrong. But it it fixed all of my posture issues. I suddenly have arches for the first time in my life.

Whoever got this condition like I do, I got few suggestions for you. First, buy orthodics aligned with your foot measurements. It will relieve you from arch pain and feeling of your foot being split to two. Next is - go run on the beach barefoot. It will train your ankle muscles and will pervent your arch from collapsing. I am someone who experienced so much pain in my foot that it made me think twice before going to work or whatsoever. For those who feel exactly like me, I feel your pain. No one needs to feel like this anylonger. Go run barefoot on sand, wear orthodics and live happy!, achieve your dreams!

About 8 months ago I started wearing work boots with very high/stiff arch support.(Whites boots) The company advertises like the arch support is supposed to be really good for your foot health and better for long work days….. now watching this I realize that the boots are probably the cause of my right foot becoming pronated considering I’ve never had this problem ever before I started to wear boots with high arch support…. Thanks for the video you definitely saved me from further damaging my foot. I’ll look into the exercises you recommend.

What a professional video, very clear descriptions and a lot of knowledge imparted there! I overpronate when I run (guy in sports shop with a slow motion camera recorded me running on a threadmill). So I have stability running shoes for running, which are great. I also have more comfortable running shoes that I use for work & everyday walking around in. Both shoes have good arch support. Would it be beneficial to get flatter everyday shoes to give my arch muscles a workout when I walk around the office/home?
@PrecisionMovementCoach2 жыл бұрын
It is good to try out more neutral footwear when you are not running but what is more important is learning to activate your intrinsic foot muscles and turning them on more often. They won't just turn on automatically because you change your footwear. The exercise featured in this video and the Strong Feet 1 ROM Coach routine can help you to do this: www.precisionmovement.coach/rom-yt - Coach Joshua, Team PM
