Thanks for putting this video up on KZbin. I have a Pizza Parlor in Downtown Sacramento that I may have to work on their exhaust fan for their kitchen. This will help.

For a setup like that, a material handling fan would be best, but would cost probably at least twice as much and may need 230v/208v power. As for the duct, i cant believe the installer just jammed the ceiling up like that and left it. Thats just crazy to me. Loved the video!

Standard galvanized ductwork on a dishwasher hood. Cheap cheap cheap! We always specify welded stainless steel for dishwasher hood ducts. No rust, no leaks, no hassle.

The bird screen- that’s something new I’ve not heard of before, but it makes sense because it affects the airflow, gotta check everything (airflow, motor, capacitor, etc.).

I do a lot of exhaust fan jobs. the majority of the times these units are repairable but you always have that one or two times that the unit is so bad with grease and stuff that you have no choice but to replace them
@HVACRVIDEOS6 жыл бұрын
Dont get me wrong I can fix it, but like i said in the video the customer buys these fans for 800 bucks and it comes with a warranty so they would rather replace it.
@Akvan796 жыл бұрын
HVACR VIDEOS I know you can it’s an easy fix but like you said sometimes it’s easier buying a new one then fixing it. I deal with unit that are very big so I sometimes have no choice but to fix it one way or another.

I find Many commercial dish fans and ducts are like this . My opinion they should be type one duct work With grease rated fans with welded seams. Thus they can be washed down just like the kitchen grease exhaust systems.

Chris if you see this message I'm checking out all your videos what was the name of that little tool you used to take the bolt out with i live in the United Kingdom and I've never seen anything like that before something like that would be great for working in my car engine bay

Good video, being that dirty does that effect how clean what they are trying to clean, get clean? Nother-words how efficient is that dish washer in the current state you found it upon diagnosis. Thanks. I actually have one of those thumb drives. Everyone who sees it is like "where did you get that"

Have you ever experienced a brand new exhaust fan with a faulty motor or capacitor? An electrician did numerous tests on power going to the fan. All checked out positive but no function on the motor. What could possibly cause this? It's installed in my food truck.

I’ve always replaced the whole fan , I’ve rebuilt them and they never work the same
@whatevernamegoeshere36443 жыл бұрын
I would assume that if it's bolted down, gets introduced a lot of physical stress, then it corrodes and warps, it screws up the balancing and the clean run of the fan. The warping also probably causes a bunch of turbulence, so noise, vibrations, all sorts of garbage once you open that can of worms
@jdniedner4 жыл бұрын
Do you think aluminum duct would be an option? Not as expensive as stainless and less reactive to dishwash chemicals than galv? My greasy goodness
@ehsnils4 жыл бұрын
Alu duct could dissolve even faster than galvanized, especially if you have alkaline detergents. Stainless is a quite good idea when it's always humid.

@HVACRVIDEOS6 жыл бұрын
Negative sir, the customer gets a 1 year parts warranty from the manufacturer. I warranty my workmanship for 90 days
@roberterwin22842 жыл бұрын
I agree every body has their own work policy's and standards wether your an individual or company owned or operated subsidiary you still offer the warranty it varies I work on hood fans all day long just hood fans in Tennessee we have a silly hood insurance liability law that holds restaurant hood companys liable for any incident or fire if they determine the hoods had somthing to do with the fire or or started it every since we got the new fire Marshall my brother lost his steak house our mother left us in her will to a loren cook upblast that locked its own self down because it never got bearings greased couple months ago and he went to turn on he thought it was running and confused a loud Jacob's Humm for it just running

What's the health department got to complain about a bit of a ceiling gap? OCD seizure? I know it's not how the ceiling is supposed to be laid, but I'd be more worried about the broken ducting and the greasy fan than a panel gap that looks ugly.
@wr89262 жыл бұрын
Shouldn't be washing the grease filters in the dishwasher. Probably why the dishwasher was replaced to begin with.
@jeremykronk70694 жыл бұрын
Maybe they need a bit of filtration above the dishwasher to stop this grease going up

When you tell them all the problems and your price of doing it, they would just call around and get someone cheaper, what i do is i dont tell them the problems, just fix the fan and they will call the next time to fix whatever that is wrong.
@HVACRVIDEOS6 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching! I can see some customers doing that, but I dont work for those kind of customers. This job was approved I actually haven't had the opportunity to complete it yet.

Eco lab cares more about getting that lease, so they just throw those units in there.
@calebburns43465 жыл бұрын
The company I did maintenance for had there own installers(these guys do it for a lot of there locations) install the dishwasher, redo the booster heater, plumbing, electrical,and a separate hvac company do the re-venting (they kept the same exhaust fan) That's the way to go, they all did a beautiful job. Ecolab just came and commissioned. But some places can't afford that.

Cheaper to replace than to clean..hmm.... I smell a scam.
@HVACRVIDEOS6 жыл бұрын
Did you watch the video all the way till the end? The customer buys these fans direct from the manufacturer for 800 dollars, my labor to disassemble the fan + my original service call will exceed that amount. I actually dont benefit from them replacing these fans, I really dont appreciate you saying I'm scamming the customer. I'm actually losing money by them replacing the fan.
@pontiac455judge6 жыл бұрын
What scam ? Pay now or pay later . Labour is not for free. Talking this stuff apart is a nightmare. Brand new dishwasher with a 20 year old exhaust system. Thats just being cheap.
