When my exhaust fell off the other day I thought I had run over a ratchet strap what a noise, I had to drag it a mile before I could pull in off a busy dual carriage way. Thankfully I still had it and took it off the mounts after those nose dive and reshaped the tail pipe And chucked in the boot till I got home, new clip and thankfully a cheap fix as my banger is not worth a new bits just yet Found you through bodgit and Leon does waffle a bit Frank Spencer with big hammers and pry bars

My exhaust silencer and 'cat' fell off on the A1 a month or so ago....luckily didn't kill anyone.........next job when I get home is to replace them...already bought!!

When my muffler did that on my old Pug 309 on the m25 it melted a nice hole in the bumper. A number of motorists pulled alongside and pointed. Stopped took a look and continued.

Looks like UK weather has taken a toll on your exhaust. And suspension. But do you have any rust issues on the body? Both my front fenders are rusty and I also have a couple of spots just below my rear doors. Probably from rock chips.

Never considered silicone sealer fir the exhaust. I thought it would cook out.

No the old Exhaust paste we used to use would cook out cause it went hard and crumbled. Silicone works a treat. Also they advise not to use exhaust paste pre Catalytic Converter because it breaks up and goes in the Cat. So silicone was advised. Since then thats all I use.

Was that an aftermarket exhaust that failed? Our 14 year old Focus was still on the original factory exhaust before the car was written off. I've had quite a few Ford's over the years and the original Ford exhaust's have improved massively in their longevity. The worst aftermarket exhaust that I bought lasted just over 2 years before the back box fell off.

Safety specs look handy, thanks for the vids, your air con ones in particular helped me replace my condenser, saved a lot by doing that and just getting garage to degas and regas, had a bit of trouble finding out how much pag to put back in the condenser but got there in the end! Cheers

Good job rob...ive seen broken exhausts wedge themselves under the vehicle lifting the rear end... Nice to see soneone else use a pump up bottle for brake clean. I have the same bottle.didnt realise you could use it as a lube, will try that... And always..safety first with those specs..top stuff...enter me in the raffle...thanks
