Great video. My hanger was rusted through. Broke off at the weld on the edge of back box. I luckily heard it going over a speed bump. I wasn't going fast but the car old and its a mazda 6 notorious rust buckets but keep going. It has a sports exhaust so twin pipes. Very expensive fix I put bungie cord temporary fix and tomorrow doing similar to this Was that a new exhaust insulator you fitted. The rubber piece?

What year is you Mazda6? Mine in a 2011 and your right, its a rust bucket. trying to decide if I want to keep it. 140k
@ciararespect429628 күн бұрын
@superchampable it's 2007 so older. Still keeps passing the mot though? I would like to get rid but unfortunately can't put a great deal towards a newer car and even then it might have more problems than the one I have? I rarely need to spend anything on it Since my last post i got a stainless steel cobra cat back used one on ebay. £100 and fifty pounds to deliver. Then forty to put on. Seems ok but I don't like the Subaru sounding noise 100,000 on the clock
@superchampable27 күн бұрын
@ciararespect4296 Exhaust, valve cover gasket, front and rear bushings, tie rod ends all went on my car. Was good for 10 years then every year something needs replaced. These are parts that do go bad and need replaced on a long life car but Toyota or honda would have lasted much longer. My front sub frame rotted out and was recalled but its my rear subfram that is really rusty and not a recall parts. Has me worried. Does you car see road salt snow? How many miles on it?
@ciararespect429627 күн бұрын
@superchampable I'm in the south of England. Very rarely we have salt /grit spreaders out but I don't often go out in really bad weather. I am coastal though so maybe more salt in the air? I bought the car at 50k extremely cheap. £500. An extremely short MOT Spent a hundred pounds on a rear quarter that had rotted out and it failed MOT on that and then it passed The first month the front calipers were binding so replaced them. Only £24 each new on ebay and forty to fit I've had it five years now averaging 10,000 miles yearly so it's at 100k. Not bad for £500!. It won't last much longer though? Agree toyota and honda are better cars but uf buying used u suppose it's the previous owners maintenance and usage that counts more sometimes

The hanger is usually welded on, but you can slide it off the insulator
@rafaelvillalobos91452 жыл бұрын
Why do cars use those insulators in the first place? Why not just bolt the exhaust?
@lorenzod78292 жыл бұрын
To isolate the main chassis from vibration otherwise it would feel like your car is shaking. Every part that vibrates in your car has to transfer through rubber bushings or insulators like that including the engine.
@RebelTvShka Жыл бұрын
@@lorenzod7829 If you're exhaust is bent enough to wear out an insulator in a matter of months, what would be the fix for this? I was going to buy another and then use a chain or something to help lighten the load on the insulator.

Putting thread locker on the end of the nut is not going to do a thing. It cures only between the threads of the nut and the rod---absence of oxygen. Usually takes about 24 hours to fully cure. Otherwise, good job and will save someone a lot of money.
