Sport mode shouldn't make a difference if you removed the valves. The burble doesn't happen until the car warms up. It hadn't even settled out of cold start mode when y'all started revving it in the bay.

Yea so this is interesting, I have a 68 reg 440i gran coupe with stock exhaust (MPPSK doesn't fit anything after 18 reg because of the PPF), and with mine you only get pops when the car is cold and in sport. When the car warms up a little bit you can get pops in sport but the gearbox has to be in D/S as well, oddly enough no pops in sport +. I've experimented with this more than I should 😅 I don't know anyone else who has this car to compare so this could just be my experience, but I was under the impression it would work like everything else, as you mentioned, the exhaust should have to be hot because it's unburnt fuel that makes its way into the manifold from the cylinder that causes the pops - so it doesn't really make sense that it pops more when cold, unless the car runs richer on warm up, which actually does make sense I suppose 🤔 Who knows lol

Actually the best way to go is removing both resonators, zero drone and you get to keep the valve in the muffler.

Is there a shortage of 2.5" piping? 2" and 2-1/4" piping has no performance gains and may cause restrictions even if you make a dual exhaust setup.

Did this to my M240i, having a little buyer's remorse. I love the B58 wail up top, and wanted to increase noise up top while hopefully keeping it reasonable down low. As it turns out, a muffler delete will only make it obnoxiously bass-y in the cabin, while the sound difference above 4k RPM is imperceptible. Turns out they make high-quality muffler replacements for a reason, eh?
