I have renovated many houses in the last few years. I have always made money by doing most if not all of the work myself. Good luck with your adventure.

Thank you very much! This is my first one and I think it is going great! I have made a few mistakes with the drywall and plumbing that cost me time and money but I learned a ton! The only thing I have not done was the electric. Thanks again

It is a learning experience for sure. I have found that converting to PEX for supply lines is well worth it. I just sold my last flip today and made a few bucks on it. Well, more than a few but once you do sell the first one the next one will be easier just because you now have experience.

Thanks for the words of encouragement! I have learned so much. I can't wait to recoup my investment and do it again!!! @@KenEilers

Holy $mokes batman, you almost killed yourself! I work solo as well and put myself in similar situations. Your 'exit strategy' was helpful to see and understand the dangers of DIYing it. I've seen plumbers wack the bell (mouth) of the cast iron pipe and crack the connection Or use a chain cutter especially with all that room. Thank you for the video.

Thanks brother! This stuff is not easy. Allot of this rehab stuff I have never done and it shows! I am about 30 days in and am wrapping up soon. Stop by the channel for the rest of the videos.

Good video - agree with using the chain cutter aka snapping tool - cheap to rent at Home depot and would have made it much easier to make more cuts like taking a tree down where you start at the top - in this case - the Double Tee, remove it then middle, then bottom. Alternative method building off what you were doing is use a ratchet strap or rope to hold it in place then gradually lower it. Also, I would have left a lot of that cast iron as in appears in very good condition. Last, and optional time allowing I would have cut a slot to the wall to relocate the pipe to the wall instead of middle of the room and installed a floor or exterior cleanout.

Great job. If I were you I would of hire a helper so less time, effort and safer. And always have a backup tools such as a grinder cut off wheel for the tight places. 👍
@es_the19 ай бұрын
I wish I could find a helper to hire. They’re just aren’t enough people out there that want to do this type of work. I do have a couple back up tools I just wasn’t thinking at the time.

Cleanout little high lol. I’d imagine all that underground is cast and or clay. Kinda be pain in the ass to get cables in that high up
@MrsOveata8 ай бұрын
Next time, wear eye and hearing protection. Steel toed shoes would be good also.
@es_the18 ай бұрын
Yes sir, definitely! I have been allot better with eye and hearing protection
@chrismallory37189 ай бұрын
Clean out is way too high, how would you cable that?? 18" from ground is where you need to be
@es_the19 ай бұрын
I put the clean out at the exact same height as the one I replaced. When my plumber cabled it, he had no issue. It is at waist level. Thank you for your comment though

I appreciate your comment. if you look at the old stack and then the new stack. you will see I made a complete copy of the old stack. It has been checked by 3 plumbers and is up to code. @@chrismallory3718

Not a good look, you totally just hit that water tank by inches. That would have been bad if that pipe hit the water tank. Dude preparation is key, You should have know how heavy that pipe was. Not a good look.
@es_the17 ай бұрын
Well we all make mistakes. And this is one I learned from. Thanks for the constructive criticism. I just have one question. Was it a good look?
@carlmax469 ай бұрын
you gave no reason for replacing this excellent cast iron stack. so your house is now downgraded.
@es_the19 ай бұрын
Well didn’t know I needed one. There were cracks in both stacks.
