Hang in there, girl, God is still your bff✌🏼” It’s amazing how clueless and out of touch with reality they truly are. They’re both way too old to be speaking/acting like they’re 15.

So we took the spiritual abuse we suffered and forced it on everyone else. And we've only just realised we're adults now and don't need to follow our parents rules for teenagers." ... I might be paraphrasing ...just a bit? Idk I was facepalming so hard I think I gave myself a concussion!

What confuses me all the time about Girl Defined and other "Christian" channels is how much they actually talk about sex. It's as if sex and temptation is all they think about all the time. And that's where alls this modesty stuff is coming from. I don't think most people experience life this way. Maybe trying to normalize sex a little would be a good first step to stop thinking about it so much.

It would be interesting to see issues such as purity culture, modesty, and other Mormon teachings from McKay’s POV. How these types of subjects shaped him as a youth to adult, and how he went about dismantling those thoughts later in life. Being a female, it’s easy for me to see these issues from a female POV and the female POV is what is most widely discussed. It would be eye opening having the discussion from a male perspective.

Yea it really seems like they are just like working through something that is probably a pretty big thing for them. They were told that they had to behave and look a certain way in order to be good Christians only to find out it was just a way to deal with having a lot of kids. I could imagine that learning that might really shake at the foundations of what they believe in and how they see the world... maybe I'm looking too into it but I do think that this video is them processing through that... it's honestly surreal.

In the hospital I was asked if I had a job, and I realized that the reason I don't right now are these freaking migraines. Kristen struggles with infertility, Bethany gets pregnant 30 seconds after getting married and announces it before the pee stick dried. I just think we need to stop belittling people’s incurable chronic illnesses bc our end goal is quality of lives for ourselves versus birthing a baby. This happens in reproductive/gyn health clinics, too. Chronic incurable pain/illness = welp, too bad, here’s the pill. Infertility = ohmygod we will do everything we can. They are not the same thing, but they should be treated equitably. Suffering is suffering. And caring for your own body and quality of life should be valued. Whatever your health goals or challenges. Producing a child is not more noble than other pursuits. It matters to that individual deeply. Just like illness and getting as well as possible matters to another individual deeply. We put down non-pregnancy pursuing people so much and it’s very, very sad.

Can we talk about minutes 25-27? I think it is HUGE they recognized that it is prideful to try to police people's choices when it's not laid out explicitly in Scripture what counts as modest clothing and what doesn't. I have an issue talking to a lot of Evangelicals who kinda think whatever their interpretation of the Bible is is THE only way to interpret it. I've described that attitude and behavior as prideful for several months now. It's a tiny step in the right direction IMO for Girl Defined to have that level of self awareness about how they practice their beliefs.

Having both infertility and extreme migraines, for me the migraines are actually way more life ruining than infertility. But that's a personal thing and I have only ever wanted to adopt if able. So in that way they kind of go hand in hand as my crap health makes the prospect of adoption less viable. But also if you're facing miscarriage after miscarriage I would never think to say to you, "yeah I get that, I have migraines". Lol. I think they were just saying they're both struggling with different things and I actually appreciate they're not looking down their nose at a maybe less devastating problem but seemingly supporting each other where they're both having issues. One of them (honestly, idk which one) was thrilled to find a pair of pumps in a size that would fit her Size 10 feet. They actually ended up finding about 4 or more pairs and gleefully grabbed them to show their Mum. So the three of them were admiring the shoes and when a sales clerk passed by, they had to ask him how come the shop never had shoes this big before. He replied in a very deadpanned manner: 'Oh yeah, we had a guy come in who's drag performer and he was donating last years designer heels before he went and bought new ones." and the dude walked away. Well apparently that so disgusted them that they took the pumps back to where they found them BY THE HEEL!!! The look on their faces was absolutely priceless. I'm happy to see you guys back again!! I think its interesting to hear them say they've changed and things changed but like... aren't Christians all about how God's word doesn't change? Or is that just Mormons? Or just my hometown? Lol either way, I couldn't care less about their opinions on modesty, ima wear whatever I want whenever I want.

Is it weird that I have a crush on both of you?!?! I was baptized as an adult and one side of my family is LDS. I so appreciate the information you have provided to your viewers so they can make the most informed decions possible.

it’s so frustrating that “modesty” is synonymous with “sexual modesty” when it really has so many definitions. being modest means not showing off or bragging and it also means not displaying wealth or being flashy. it’s kind of a synonym for being humble in those definitions. in the actual bible verse that everyone cites about modesty, that’s what it sounds like it’s referring to to me. that people shouldn’t wear clothes and hairstyles to show off their wealth, so in modern times that would mean not wearing designer brands or doing things like massive $1000+ hauls on youtube and bragging about how much money you spend. jesus was a socialist, dammit!

All they had to do was refer people to Ben Shapiro’s sister’s video on dressing modestly. I have to admit she does it well; certainly better than these two. Yes, it’s not saying much. She’s self righteous and obnoxious, but definitely owns it! Okay, back to the video ☺️

My favorite apostates! This video cracked me up. I really needed a lighthearted funny video and this was perfect. Well beside the fact that these girls really annoy me ;) I've missed you two! Almost 20k!!! You guys rock!

I’ve missed you two sweethearts! I read the title and immediately thought ‘absolutely not!’ Now I’m gonna watch it and see if I was right (or wrong). Jordan, your hair looks great. McKay, were you a ginger earlier in life, or is that just the way your camera picks up the color? Maybe it’s my iPad. Welcome back 👏🏻

Can we just teach our children that how they look is not a value of their worth? How they dress or do their hair is not a value of their worth. I have two daughters and I tell them every day that they are beautiful. This isn't dependent on what they are wearing, it's because they are intelligent, funny, kind, awesome little people and how they choose to express themselves on the outside is kind of cool, but irrelevent. My girls don't worry about their looks and I feel like this is ever increasingly important in the social media world that we live in (guys, keep your kids away from social media!).

What fascinates me more than just Girl Defined alone is the people who follow and support them. Where I live, the youth leader here is friends with Kristen and Bethany and so she constantly supports all their books and I've even found their books in my own home, bought by other family members. It's just wild to have a close up look at who actually likes their content and shares similar beliefs.

I think what frustrates me so much about them is just how fucking CLOSE they get to getting the point sometimes. Like the bit at 30:00 where she talks about whether or not she’s doing something because she ACTUALLY thinks it’s right vs what her culture expects of her… SO. FUCKING. CLOSE.

Hahahaha at the infertility and migraine struggles being on the same level. Struggled with both of those things... Infertility and the process of shooting myself up with hormones and having eggs sucked out of me for IVF was wayyyyyyy worse.
