I would just like to say thanks because; without this video I don't think my ryft would run as smooth as it is.. keep up the great work and thanks again!! 2-speed is a must if you have a ryft!!

Hey man. Yeah it takes some work, took me a few tries to get it right.

Thanks for this. Grinding down the sides of the shift fork worked wonders. I was so frustrated trying to get this stupid thing to shift into first gear. Now it works great. 🤘🏻👍🏻

Thank you for putting this video together, I just got done putting my transmission together (stock plastic) and could barely move the shift fork at all by hand, watched your vid, removed the useless shaft and ground down the fork, now it moves very easily!!!!

Thank you! I have been trying everything to get this to shift. Several servos and several horns. Pulled it apart several times. Nothing worked. After this mod all is working fine. Thank you so much! And yes the shift arm heats up pretty good. Don't ask how I know. 😂

I'm glad you made this video because I had the same issue with my two speed trans with the Treal case just like Vitavon did. I only took the case down where the fork traveled for more movement.

I just bought this kit and because so many people reported issues with it staying in gear I shaved the armature to increase travel. However, I left the additional rail rod in place to take the load instead of the much thinner control rod. Unfortunately, after reducing the thickness of the armature the area that rides on the rail isn't long enough to prevent binding. By thinning the armature the chance of it binding on the rail has increased AND its strength has been reduced. The chance of the armature breaking off the rail during a shift seems inevitable. It seems to me shaving the transmission housing would be a much better solution, especially in the case of the aluminum transmission housing which has more than enough strength supporting the rail.

I just built this kit and am having the same issue. I really want the 2 speed trans to work. I have a high trail and like the option of a 2 speed transmission. I’ll try this mod tonight. I don’t agree with removing that other Rod though. It keeps that shift fork from riding on the guide it sits in. Maybe that’s not much of an issue. Nice video!

Good info on the fix. Was thinking about just fixing mine into first gear and being done with it. Maybe I'll try this first. It will hold in gear but only if I'm holding the third channel toggle down in the direction I want it. Annoying!!!

if I do those I'll need another TRX6 as my Creep 6 isn't suitable for them

Hi everyone. Sorry to start the topic again. I removed the extra pin a while ago as suggested in the video (no improvement). I have now filed down the fork and a bit of the plastic seat where the rod fits, but not the tip of the fork which broke for the author of the video, and now it holds up in high gear (before it would jump to neutral). But what I don't understand is why Axial sells a product (2 speed) that doesn't work well without modifications. Is there any explanation? Thanks.

thanks, What mini servo are you using? Brand , Name , Number? Is it able to high voltage 8,4 Volt? I am looking for a good HV mini Servo with a fair price. Knows someonne a good one? Thank´s and Greetings

So with a new setup; should I cut that unit like the way you broke it? Or just shave it straight outta of the bag?
@ExocagedRC3 жыл бұрын
I’d shave it right out of the bag

I was thinking about buying the ryft builders kit since it comes with 2 speed and sway bar. But what would you recommend for all the electronics?
@ExocagedRC3 жыл бұрын
Reefs RAW500 steering and 99 micro for 2-speed, Flysky GT5 radio and a castle mamba x with 2400kv motor.

I’ve seen one other person take out the support shaft on the shift fork. I’m not so sure that I would call that an “oversight” by axial. I do think that the shift rod that engages the fork will be the next thing to go, based on the portion that broke loose from the fork. Happy 4th!

I have 2 speed in mine, couple bashes and no issues hmm. Maybe cos i use super cheap micro servo and it doesnt have enough juice. Plastic case. 2speed is super loud tho and clacks due to tollerances in the engaging tabs. Recently had it apart and everything looked healthy. Though at 1st it were my diffs going and clacking but nah. Noticed my diffs are a bit notchy/coggy, like twisting a brushless motor by hand but rebuilt them and everything looks healthy. Are your diffs super smooth or have little cog to them?
