Pro-Line BFG Krawlers are by far my favorite tire. The g8 ones do really well after a couple runs of break-in. Pair them with Dual stage foams, and they are fantastic.

I would say, that the G8´s are better for heavier rigs and and the Predator comp. is better for light trucks!

You could hear the Predator grabbing for traction. I remember when Pro-line was handing out the Hyrax in the G8 compound to all the sponsored guys I know. They replaced the TSL's they were running that had the G8 compound. Honestly(as always)...they all went back to the TSL's. Then when the Hyrax came with the Predator a few went back to the Hyrax. I think the Hyrax is just a better tire in the Predator....works better with that tread. You might have something with the temperature thing.

I love my hyrax predator they stick on rocks but they are so soft that with my trx4 that is over 10 pounds, they were cut by the ring arround the border of my metal beadlocks and lost a lug the last time I used them on my truck, there is a big hole in one of them now.

Good suggestions ! Foam must be much soft as possible, but proportional to the total weight ! The more is soft, the better the performance, BUT too much soft make the tire torque too much giving stability issues.

I like the idea of using a curved ramp, as opposed to a flat ramp...but, instead of measuring by "inches", wouldn't it be better to measure by angle (ie. degree of incline)? That way, instead of having a tape measure along the side of the ramp, you could/would have degrees marked.
@ExocagedRC5 жыл бұрын
Robb Ryan you have a point on the angle thing. I hadn’t thought of that.
@robbryan30445 жыл бұрын
@@ExocagedRC I'm assuming that the ramp you're using has a consistent curve throughout. As such, the angle change would also be consistent throughout the curve. My only other suggestion might be too build a bigger ramp...and one that could lay flat on the ground, so that vehicles entering the ramp are truly entering into it from a 0° (to the ground) angle...thus, the angle changes would be slightly further apart, and easier to notate the exact angle. Pit another way, if the base/height of the current ramp is 2ft, building a ramp with a base/height of 4ft would allow the degree markings to be placed twice as far from each other, which, in turn, would make it easier to read the degree the vehicle is climbing. Obviously, using a flat board is much easier & less costly to "manufacture", and easier to set up. If you've ever watched any of Richie's (Drofto maniacs) videos, that's what he, and several others, do. They'll typically start at something low...like a 40° incline...and then increase by 5° increments, until the tires no longer hold. That being said, I still really like the curved ramp, as people can see exactly where a vehicle (or its tires) starts to slip.
@JustinDDavis5 жыл бұрын
@@ExocagedRC your ramp is testing the grip of the tires, not so much how steep of an incline you want to climb.

I'm looking into buying some new tires, for current trucks, as well as for a future build from a raw kit... Wondering, if for heavier trucks, or for longer life, I should go with the G8 compound.... don't necessarily need the ULTIMATE of performance...just looking for something maybe better than the kit/rtr tires... Looking at KM3 and Flat Iron XL...but going to look into it some more...

Do you have any experience with the Bomber trucks? Thanks again for the content...

I don't know if you will see this but I have a question since you have tried so many motor and ESC combos. I have an Axial Bomber with aluminum panels (not too heavy) and aluminum wheels. I plan on putting an RX4 and ROC412 3100kv with stock gearing. I know I will need a stiff read sway bar but is that combo too much muscle? I don't care about crawling as much as I do rock racing. Thanks if you answer this.

70 to 72 degrees, I wish 28 and less sleet and rain over here right now, I have been trying to find the right tyre combo for my latest build a Kraken RC KV5TT with RCMAX GT50cc engine, but doing it in between the shower's, I like that you test all apect's of the vehicles, as I do with my 5th scale gas, SDT and the UDR not so easy as tyre choice is limited the SDT (Super Baja Rey clone) I have the stock tyres plus the LOSI Baja Rey tyre's as choices these both fit the Vitavon billet alloy beadlock wheels aswell as the stock rim's, the UDR only the stock tyres fit the Vitavon rim's, so when I have worn out the stock tyre's on the stock rim's I will invest in the Pro-Line Hyrax and some CA glue, ugh I hafe glueing tyres one of the reasons I stopped 1/10th racing. I have around ten tyre manufacturer options with only Pro-Line and J Concept's giving me compound choices, it was getting better a few years back but the popularity of 5th gas has waned a bit so not so many manufacturer's got on the bandwagon and have stuck it out, even Pro-Line have stopped producing lexan bodie's, so this part is frustrating, I was hoping a manufacturer was going to make some old school pickup bodies Chevy/Ford stepside 79 Ford yes please. Enough waffling the rain has stopped so here I go again dodging the shower's. Really enjoy your tech testing as they are informative as I am going to bite the bullet on a crawling just not sure what, I like the new Axial truck mainly for the body style, so maybe something a little cheaper and put a stepside body on it to start with to see if I like crawling.
