Coo! Awesome to see the Gen 8 out again. The Predators might be interesting to try on my Gen 8. It's cold and snowing here so the softer compound would be stiffer. Keep up the great work man!

I'm running the G8 Grunts, and have noticed similar to you, that if they manage to hook a lug on something sharp, they will pull just as well or better than a super squishy compound tire. This is a pleasant surprise. Lastly, flip down your D shackle. 😁

@ExocagedRC5 жыл бұрын
Not yet but it’s on the schedule. Now the reason for that is to let the front work with less weight while the back pulls with weight correct?

Exocaged RC I was curious mostly with how it would work with climbing. I think predator all around is still going the be better on your ramp test for sure, even with the Capra(that’s the one I want to use Krawlers on). So really I’m looking at the extra durability of the g8 with use of the dig plus the reduced sidewall wrinkle and extra grip up front would be a good balance for my build.

@douglaselliott82985 жыл бұрын
A PSA. It doesn't matter what or whose 'foam' you're running. If the surface is hot enough to be uncomfortable to walk bare-footed on you stand a good chance of ruining your "foam". I live in the Ca. high desert. I ran my stock TRX-4/tires at mid-day last July in my rock garden. They were never the same again. They looked perpetually 'flat' and would curl or fold under in a heartbeat. Place a heat source close to foam rubber some time, you'll see what I'm talking about.
@ExocagedRC5 жыл бұрын
so how would you set up for the hot temps? I don't get that kind of desert heat here in florida so I'm curious how to set up for that extreme heat.
@douglaselliott82985 жыл бұрын
@@ExocagedRC Honestly, I don't know. Maybe a thin layer of highly flexible insulating material affixed between the tire and its foam rubber. I simply learned to 'water' my rock garden/crawl course for 3 to 5 minutes prior if I was operating between 9am and evening. But if you're simply 'out in the rocks' , under blue skies, and ambient air temperatures are 90*+F a shaded area might be your only recourse. Like I said; if the surface is hot enough to make you innately dance walking on it barefooted the foam rubber is possibly being compromised/damaged.
@nateg45134 жыл бұрын
@@douglaselliott8298 I have a suggestion for you that may work... try the inner hard foam from a proline 2 stage without the outer foam. Seal tires when they are hot to acclimate air temp in the tire. That way you will have the support of a tire foam but have an insulating air gap between the foam and inside of the tread. I haven't tried this but may have to myself next summer if it gets hot enough. If u try it, let me know how it works out. Keep the greasy side down bro. ✌🙃

I bought the G8 Krawlers for my Capra on the recommendation of many people. What a disappointment. Having other predator compound tires on another truck, and JConcepts greens and vanquish reds on other trucks. The G8 compound sucks, yeah G8 is an upgrade over RTR tires but still they really struggle and need some wheel speed or more chances to catch where predator compound and JConcepts greens absolutely walk up with no trouble. So I think unless your rig is really heavy and the temperature are hot, you’re better off with predator. I’m probably never buying another set of 1.9 or 2.2 tires in G8.

Wow. That Gen 8 is a real porker (for its weight of 8 lb 11.5 oz) in comparison to the competition. My heaviest truck rig is 6 lb. 4 oz. (with minor amounts of brass ballast on each). Looks like stock foams are just not up to the task with that kind of vehicle weight. Wish Proline would sell their crawler tires without any single-stage foam because I just toss them (or make Christmas ornaments...LOL).
