Hey Exoman, at the 6:40 mark, next time take two bolts long enough to go through the hole in the plastic plug and "cross" them. You can then use a screwdriver or wrench placed between the bolts and twist them like an extractor. The threads will bite into the plastic and hopefully the plug will turn out without screwing up the threads! An old plumbing trick from working with PVC pipe.

If those were the only options, I probably would've taken the plug from the middle tube and used it for the side tube and put the spout in the center tube. That way if the spout didn't seal completely, only the center tube would take on water

There is another plug on the top of the tube around the middle area that you can charge the tube with a little bit of air-very little like one or two PSI it will rupture and spray weld joints with A/c leak soap works good-good luck !

The old whittle a piece of wood, then screw in works wonders. All pontoon boats leak. End of the boating season, sit the trailer jack on a cinder block to raise the bow high. Drains out over the winter so you don't have 30-40 gallons of water to corrode the aluminum.

Exoman, disregard some of the comments! I went to a marine program @ a tech school and worked in the field awhile. You probably want to go with oem fix on that. With electrolysis and salt water I wouldn't improvise. Snap-on sells 4 point plug sockets that work great on plugs so your problem will be gone. chec

no, No, No. Not a brass fitting anywhere near an aluminum boat - It will cause electrolysis that will eat away the aluminum and you will get a greatly weakened honeycomb of a stern of the boat in no time flat. . Don't even think about doing it !

Take a breath Rob, relax you caps button and learn to watch videos and pay attention. That plastic shattered tike a brittle cookie. Didn't matter what tool was put on it or which way. I would not chance the pitcher valve to hold up in the water. Putting your life on a two dollar part. Go to the hardware store and get the plug. Be safe not sorry.
@exoman2 жыл бұрын
Wow, you're being very dramatic. First of all It's about ten times the price of the plastic plug. Second, a triple tube pontoon can't sink if one of the tubes takes a little water. There are still two pontoon tubes. Third, we move with the tide and there was no time to get in 4th of July traffic and go miles away to get a plug that might not fit these threads. 4th, we have life vests, 5th we have Seatow, I could keep going. All and all, it was an amazing save and I was pretty damn impressed with myself. But really I think that's what bothers you. :-)
@boydbaxter2 жыл бұрын
@@exoman Well you certainly took a very defensive stance to my sincere comment concerning safety. I live at Canyon Lake Texas. This lake takes about 8-10 lives a year. Some of them very preventable boating accidents. My neighbor runs a commercial boating business and has several pontoons like yours. If one of his boat captains did what you did he would be fired on the spot. Boating safety is no joke. And safety should always come first. Not getting out there just because it’s the 4th of July. I trust you had a non-eventful day and am glad for you. I watched your video on prostate health and commend you for having the courage to talk about your experience. As 62 year old man I too can be encouraged to face the challenge and put my fears aside to address a very preventable health condition. I thank you for that. But please know that I only commented out of concern. And as for finding a fix to your boating plug, your very resourceful. But it just seemed a little silly to risk this kind of safety measure after your video educating us men about health prevention. Have a good day sir.

This is the most cringe worth video I've seen this month holy hell!! The toons are aluminium use ALUMINIUM PLUGS. Do not use teflon tape use thread sealer. And when you drain the toons take the trailer off the truck and crank the trailer jack all the way up so you evacuate all the water out of it. P.S. pontoons sweat on the inside so check the plugs periodically if it's not left in a boat slip.
