I've talked to people who knew the family. In the beginning, Terry had multiple people who helped care for his animals including his wife. As the years went on, ppl stopped helping and he and his wife separated. After this, he became severely depressed and turned to alcohol. That famous night he released the animals so they wouldn't die in the cages as no one came and visited Terry; and he took his life. As a result of the massacre, some of the leopards and primates who were still contained, were housed by the Columbus Zoo. About 6 months after, news came out that one of the leopards were killed due to negligence. A cage door was dropped on the cat's neck and spine, killing it. The zoo did not take responsibility.

Sad ending to all those poor animals from the first story. They guy could have called someone to take the animals OR if he was going to take his live, at least leave the animals in the cages so when the police arrived, they could've called for help with the animals to be taken to other places instead of what happened here. Just my opinion. RIP those poor animals, they didn't deserve that. Humans are the most dangerous beings in the world, the animals are the voiceless victims. Their lives are more important, especially in this situation.

I live in Ohio. Exotics are allowed with special permit and other documentation. Big cats belong in their respective habitats. Smaller american lynx, clouded leopard, ocelot, margay can be kept, but its not for everybody. This guy was sick. Hoarding exotic cats.

Wild animals are NOT meant to live with people ! Not only that but when you have exotic pets you are condoning POACHING-think about it. This is a tragedy for the ANIMALS more than their owner-this should NEVER happen !

My only guess as to why is if they were released in their respective groups (meaning, it takes some time to bolt cut things so not all the animals were released ALL at once) it would have been no different than just moving around the exhibit (at least until they got out into the general public and away from the woods) all together! So for example the lions got let out and got far enough away in the time it took to release the other animals if that makes sense, so the lions may have never even seen the bears

Those animals could have been tranquilized and sent to the Wilds which is in Zainsville(check spelling). Someone should have intervened and helped the deceased man get the animals to a sanctuary before he knew he could no longer get the care they needed. This is why animals are endangered because of negligence and ignorance and fear.

I don’t think police in Gainesville, Ohio go around with big game tranquilizers in their pockets, by the time enough for there to sedate that many animals half of the population would have been severely injured or killed. This guy should have never been allowed to have those animals to begin with.
@chickfilamediumfrywithsauce
@chickfilamediumfrywithsauce 4 ай бұрын
Another video on this incident had a vet talk about why they couldn’t be tranquilized. First they didn’t have enough amount for 50 large animals. And she also mentioned that it could take anywhere from 10 minutes to take effect. Which they don’t have if they are roaming around town.

It is 100% the owners fault. I believe what was done was what they thought was best. The owner was a selfish narcissist. The enclosures alone were awful to keep anything in. He didn't want to be incarcerated, but he did that to those animals.
@emaaustin1620
@emaaustin1620 2 ай бұрын
@@teresafaria6772 I think there should be a new checks and balances agency regulated by the EPA for inspections of all animal enclosures and living conditions for wild animals or exotic species. That way safety is never an issue. I understand that the officers did what they thought was best. I just hurt for the animals that could have lived longer in a zoo or sanctuary somewhere else where they could be cared for and their species protected. I mean, if all wild animals are killed and go extinct; what will the children of the future generations have to admire or respect or even see.

I'll never forget when this happen. I was afraid to take my dog outside, fearing we might get mauled by a bear, lion, or tiger. This was a WILD time, literally, if you lived in Ohio. I remember hearing reports people going to the mall, and seeing these animals. Laws in Ohio are now very strict because of this.

No one should be able to keep an exotic pet outside entertainers and those used in the film/tv industry and they should be highly regulated, regularly inspected, including random inspections. They suffer the same fate as many domestic pets, they're cute when they're young, but once they mature they can be violent and unpredictable, not to mention very expensive to feed and care for.

Why are exotic animals and guns “a dangerous mix” ? Do the animals use the guns?😂 One could argue that someone who has lions should be REQUIRED to have the ability to neutralize them in the event of escape or attack.
