12 is SPOT ON ! dating a man with children is a huge NO! for me. My friend was sent to an early grave at the age of 32. She got with this dude who had 4 disrespectful young girls raging from 9 to 16 with no home training by their mom on purpose. My friend moved in with him and through out the years she was so stressed out cleaning after them. She had to deal with their disrespect because their mom throughout the years held the mentality if I can’t have him I’m gonna make sure you become my babysitter, while I date out myself. That lady had men take her out while providing her with the soft life, while my friend had to play mommy for her daughters. In the last few years leading up to her death I went to visit my friend her house always looked a mess turned upside down she was a shadow of herself she looked like she gave up on everything. Long story short my friend developed a rare form of cancer and passed away six months after she was diagnosed but here comes the kicker the children’s mother moved in a month after my friend passed away. I missed you Rosa 😢 R.I.P My mantra will always be “ Taking a bum from a bum are not in my plans”

So I was never expected to play mom to a teen because I was/am in my 20s (I’m 29 almost 30 now) •We didn’t get married until his only child was adult dorming in college (I’m in an age gap marriage) •he was a proactive father the whole time, and the kid needs money from their dad never or rarely because the kid already had that set up for them before you even came into their life •No ex-wife/biological mother drama because they both hate her, have restraining orders against her and she’s legally not allowed around children And thank goodness my legal step kid and I actually like each other a lot and relate in a lot of ways. Men often want a surrogate/replacement primary caregiver for their kid, not a wife. If you’re dating a man with kids you have to have ultimate vetting skills. And it takes energy and time to vet so unless you feel love from the start and the relationship is logical to have _(I advocate following your heart but only if you take your brain along with you)_ then the vetting process may not be worth it. I completely get why even women who DO want kids in the future won’t date single dads

If you care about finding a quality relationship with a man or to just regain your own sense of self and who you are, decentering men is the way to go. After 2 particularly bad relationships I dropped out the dating game for almost 2 years and centered the mess out of myself. I mastered my diet and fitness, water fasted, got another trade to improve my money, started making art again and did what I loved to do for fun( dancing, going to poetry readings, museums, traveling and much more) and let me tell you , nothing is hotter than a woman not checking for you. The men will come from everywhere too and your decernment will need to be on point. I was so happy, smiled a lot and some men flirting would say I looked like I had a good joke on my mind, but the reality was that I was just happy doing what I wanted. I met my now wonderful husband of 15 years after about a year and a half of just loving my life alone and when you're happy you attract better and will have no patience for people who aren't an asset to you.

**Thoughts I had throughout** •The only chains ⛓️ I like are the one metalheads wear on their shorts lol. Both my husband and I bring the our chains from the bottom of one of our drawers when it’s time for a DeathMetal show lmao. He also has a leather cord with a Mjolnir pendant he wears around his neck because we both like Viking metal haha. Glad it’s not a chain with a pendant because of what implicitly associate chains with pendants with (same as you) •Spending too much on casual shoes 👟 🥾and athletic shoes unnecessarily is so annoying and basic. I give my husband a pass though because even though he’s lean & physically fit - his feet are so wide. The regular 13.5 size shoes he tries are always too narrow he needs a DOUBLE WIDE in freaking everything. That’s the only time it makes sense- when it’s absolutely necessary to fit your feet comfortably. He just buys NewBalance with •I adore well taken care of full beards and some nice chest hair enhances it lol. It’s a very take it or leave it feature. It’s hard to feel lukewarm towards it. Yeah I like it but I always understood for every 1 woman who adores it, there’s gotta be like 2 who can’t stand it •It’s interesting you said “why would I want to date a guy who wants to look intimidating.” When my husband (back when he was my BF) was talking about his gym goals he said upfront he doesn’t want to be one of those “off looking body builder dudes” (his words). He just wanted to get more athletic/toned/defined and strengthen his core- which is an ideal goal in my opinion and he is doing great at maintaining it. My husband doesn’t want to be anymore intimidating. He’s already 191cm (6’3”) with naturally broad shoulders, and a full beard- he doesn’t want to be even more intimidating. He already knows he can protect me and men don’t mess with him anyway
