5 years ago to this day I purchased my 2017 Ford Mustang Shelby GT350. I often get asked all kinds of question here on KZbin and on Instagram on how my ownership experience has been so I like to use these anniversaries as a way to tell everyone what all has happened. The good, the bad & the ugly. To save y'all the time, I still love it! Here's to the next 5 years!

with regards to maintenance, is there anything that prevents you from doing the oil/filter change yourself? I'm weird and like to do that myself. btw I remember when you replaced your BRZ with this car (at least I think that was you), and I'm glad to say that I'm finally in a position to do the same myself in a couple years. either this or a camaro zl1 1le

Such a fantastic Mustang. I'm guessing it still as special hearing that Voodoo fire up as day one. Maybe even more with the exhaust mod. With the end of the V8 coming and the GT350 the only Ford to use this high tech, high revving Voodoo. You own a very special car. Thanks for sharing your beautiful 2017 Shelby GT350.

Alot of that is probably the manual trans I would wager you're a stick guy who truly enjoys the art of driving a manual trans like myself? I think gt500s should have had tr6070 7 speed manual option like the vettes had. Big let down that they didn't offer it. Alot of guys would rather have a manual even if it is a tad slower who cares it's 1000x more fun to drive lol.

My 2017 Gt 350 would consume a quart of oil every 600 to 700 miles driven! It was my daily driver ( 60 miles round trip to work). I just drove it normal and still had an oil consumption issue. Ford checked it out and said all was normal. I eventually traded it in for a Tesla Y performance with loads of torque which I didn’t get in the Gt350. I am a mustang guy and have owned 8 of them. Just to name a few ( the mighty 04 cobra, 2012 Boss 302, and two 03 Mach 1’s. Presently, I still own a 03 dark shadow grey 03 Mach 1😊. I do miss that great sounding experience of the Gt 350 but reliability issues of that motor had me running scared. I let it go at 44,000 miles. Great review. Subscribed 😊

Is there a rev matching on 17 gt350? I am a 20 bullitt onwer, I thought I was a good manual driver until I did a test driver on a 16 gt350 without rev matching.... I found rev matching is real helpful.
@ron9269 Жыл бұрын
@@nobody6273 I've been driving Honda stick shifts my whole life and I don't understand why Rev matching is necessary. I currently have a 280HP Honda accord V6. When I want to downshift I just downshift and the clutch finds the rpm when it is re-engaged. Is that supposed to be bad for the clutch or something? I've been doing it the last 30 years, 4 different Hondas, and never had a problem with clutches...
@theninja224 Жыл бұрын
No rev match on any gt350
@BlueVoodoo92 Жыл бұрын
@@ron9269 yeah, rev-matching prevents the clutch from going from a much lower RPM to a much higher RPM quickly. This overheats the friction surfaces and causes premature wear and unnecessary drive line shock. Quick throttle blip before you release the clutch after selecting your gear will prolong the life of your clutch. Street driving, that might not be a huge deal but if you try to pop the clutch out on every downshift when you are track driving a car it will overheat the clutch and the throw out bearing very quickly. On track, there's something called "heel toe" shifting which requires that you blip the throttle with your braking foot while simultaneously applying braking pressure so you can quickly downshift to select the correct gear for a corner exit. Cars equipped with autoblip allow a driver to focus on braking with their foot instead of having to work double duty and helps the driver by automatically revving the engine to make downshifts smoother during performance driving.

Love the yearly updates! I've watched all of them as well as other reviews, all in anticipation for wanting to buy a GT350 myself. I do have some questions for you or other GT350 owners to chime in on and help me with. With the changes for the 19/20 MY, are they worth it for the extra price? What do you not like about the car? For my last question, I'm curious about the transmission. How forgiving is the transmission, and how good are the clutches? I'm learning manual now but I'm just a bit worried about breaking a trans on such a beautiful car.

I have a 2017, only issue was burning oil. Might be worth buying the newer models since they were supposed to have less issues and minor updates. There’s nothing I dislike about the car, but slowly getting tired of stickshift since I live in NYC. Tranny is not very forgiving, especially in sport mode. I don’t suggest learning in a GT350 though, because i think it cost $3000 to replace the trans if you mess it up. Hope this helps

This car is possible to finance. This gentlemen has/makes a lot of money so he was able to buy it cash, no financing. If you are financing a car, rule of thumb is car payment must be 10% or lower of your monthly income. This car is around 55-70k depending on many factors. That’s easily a 800-1200 monthly payment. So ideally you’d want to make around 8000-12000 a month to be able to comfortably afford this car. Hope this helps.

The 19 and 20 supposedly got the rods and stuff from the gt500 so other than the fact it's flat plane vs cross plane and manual vs dct otherwise they're similar. Voodoo is 12:1 compression as it was meant to make power na and gt500 is 9.5:1 compression. Otherwise i think they're pretty close. Much of the issues are clutch related and blamed on the Trans I see them hold up being raced in applications with forced induction so they must not be that crappy. You only had the car for 2 months so exactly what kind of issues were you having? Or was it like I said before you just heard others saying they are bad so you got rid of it before you had issues basing your entire life around internet hearsay like everyone else does? Which is it?
