Outstanding review... I like the point that you bring up about how the 6.2L motor has proven its reliability in the F-250, and isn't over stressed.. The math equation revealing a motor's "stress level" is (horsepower divided by displacement) As you get closer to and beyond 100, the more the engine is closing in on its stress limits... so 410hp divided by 6.2L equals 66.1290323. The ECOBOOST Raptor is 450 divided by 3.5 which equals 128.571429. The stress level on the ECOBOOST Raptor motor is TWICE the amount as the SVT Raptors... Hope someone finds this knowledge useful.. Cheers
@drunkinmaster14 жыл бұрын
Taylor W While i will agree that the 6.2 liter is relatively reliable, i don’t think that your little formula can always apply to every engine. The 3.5 ecoboost has forged internals while the 6.2 does not. The 3.5 ecoboost has been proven to handle much more power when tuned; tuned 3.5 EcoBoost’s are actually very common now. The biggest advantage of the 6.2 is its simplicity. But having MPFI and a dated fuel management is probably its biggest weakness besides oil consumption.

Im the proud original owner of a 2011 SuperCrew Raptor... She is at almost 89K miles... Ford has tried to get me to trade in mine for a 2nd gen... I won't do it for several reasons.. The 6.2L is at top of the list... With Ford getting rid of SVT and going to Ford performance, I feel like the 1st gen is even rarer with SVT badging... I won't buy a 2nd gen because of the EcoBoost... I hate the way it sounds and nothing you do will improve it... And so for me, I would rather pay $70K for a V8.... And I did a lot of homework on my exhaust...and by far, Corsa had the best sound and NO droning... I added Edge CTS2 programmer.... Volant CAI..... And i fill up with 93 ONLY... @ronson-natsarim5 жыл бұрын
If you’re in a financial situation to be concerned about fuel mileage, then you certainly can’t afford paying twice as much for the new 3.5. What you’d save in fuel costs would take decades to recoup the extra $50k+ on the initial capital outlay hahaa Regarding the HP, the stock 3.5 is turbocharged. I slapped some turbos on my 6.2 and low and behold it cranks out twice the ponies as that punitive 3.5. And the sound, oh the glorious sound of the 6.2 is WELL worth the extra bit of gas and even well worth the slightly less HP in stock form as it actually feels more powerful and punchy because of the sound. The difference in HP for both trucks, stock, you’ll hardly notice unless running them side by side (but then neither is really a suitable drag truck..I mean come on..) but what you do notice POW IN YOUR FACE obvious difference - the RUMBLE. The imperceptibly less power accompanied by the far more powerful sound makes for an experience that FEELS more powerful. Then, as I said, throw some turbos on the 6.2 and it’s twice as powerful anyway so really what are we talking about here? If you can afford a 3.5, you can afford to pay half the price for a 6.2 and have it turbocharged and happily pay for the fuel because you’ll have a giddy smile on your face driving away from that pump every time, guarantee it. ;)

I bought this 2014 Ford SVT Raptor back in July (7 months ago) and am now convinced it's one of the best trucks to buy for multiple reasons. It's the original Raptor and last of the 6.2L V8. So you get the awesome soundtrack and reliability that comes with the 6.2L. The Gen. 1 Raptor with the 6.2L is also well known for great value retention as I talk more about in the video. Lastly is just how great it drives both off and on road. Messing around or getting groceries, it's got you covered. If you have a Gen.1 Raptor with the 6.2L or thinking of getting one, I'd definitely recommend looking into the K&N Intake: amzn.to/2G0P8i1 and Corsa exhaust: www.stage3motorsports.com/14760-2010-2014-SVT-Raptor-62L-Corsa-Xtreme-Cat-Back-Exhaust.html Thanks for watching! Add the SCT X4 tuner from 5Star Tune you won't regret 450 bucks it really improves torque, hp, gas mileage. You get mode options for performance, tow, daily street and economy. You have adjustments for the transmission which in turn gives you better stronger shift points! Tire size adjustments make the turns per revolution a perfect addition to the trans shiftpoints. There are more modes to pay for and downlload online. The best part of the X4 is it solves around 50% percent of low RPM power lag the RAPTOR 6.2l displays. Off the line throttle response is much better also, in the Performance mode you will chirp tires more with less throttle making it controlled to your foot pedal desire. The X4 tuner adds 15 HP and 30LBS of torque to your already 411 HP RAPTOR.

Tony Ferguson The first gen is a little more basic and gritty, if I break anything it’s going to be easier and cheaper to replace which makes using the truck for its intended purpose much nicer. I like the second gens but I would never buy a V6 truck, I have my track cars for going fast, the truck doesn’t have to be a dragster.

not really, had a Gen 2 Raptor before my Gen 1. 35k miles cam phasers then 40k timing chain. those are known issues for both generations of EBs and at 4k to fix each one. there's more gen 2 Raptor owners that have had massive issues than you may realize. just look at the forums.
