That telescoping wand with just a magnet on the end that was shown alongside the cutlery is very often used to fish things out of engine bays when they get loose from messy or shaky hands. Very useful little devices.

Might sound a little bit weird, but I consider Tim to be a grandpa of mine. I never met either of my grandfathers and if I ever did, I think the comfort Tim makes me feel through these videos would be the same feeling I'd feel with my granpapas. 1:20 - It's not a bit of fun - I have one ! The pen is its second function. It's primary function is being a pocket pointer - for when you're stood in front of a white board, projector screen or whatever and you want to point out specific things to 'class'.

I used to have a Spider with a piece of rubber similar to the one in the snake tongue, but It worke like a spring. It was connected with a wire to a little squishy balloon, and when you pressed It, It made the spring move, and the spider jumped, scaring people. I loved It. Its amazing how little contraptions can be so fun

My father has such a telescopic pen. He told me that it is ment to be used as a pointer for presentations so if you have a big map projected on the screen you can use it to show the audience where you are right now for example.

does extendable pens are also used for few another purposes. - simplist was a pointer for a chalkboard or other board. tip was typically white. - My dad used to use them at a gas utility company to light pilots. the entire staff used them too. you take the pen ink/tip insert out. you put a wooden match into the end. you could light the match and reach it into a gas appliance and light the pilot light. keeps your hand away from the burner flame. can also use them to light things like a barbecue grill

sometimes they would also take the pen insert out once it was no longer of use and salary alligator clip onto the end. same purpose use a match to light something remotely but not getting your fingers anywhere near the flame

The telescopic magnet is more so for mechanics. So should you drop a bolt and it doesn't fall onto the ground, you use a telescopic mirror to find it and the magnet to get it back.
