Join the developers behind theHunter: Call of the Wild as we bring you to some of our favorite outdoor spots around Stockholm. We discuss developing and releasing the game, as well as what makes the experience so unique. Oh, and we’ll also shoot some real-life trap!
You’ll get to meet a few of the developers working tirelessly on the game, including Anna Bouveng (Executive Producer), Philipp Strecker (Producer) and Pim Holfve (CEO of Avalanche Studios). I never comment on videos, ever. I do however read through the comments and one thing I keep picking up from the comments is how everyone isn't happy with their experience. I don't get what people are so unhappy about. Looking at video game franchise's in today's society you see 65 dollars games such as Call of Duty give a 8 hour campaign. That is 8 hours of enjoyment out of a single player experience, this doesn't include DLC costs that they charge, not to mention they come out with a new COD game every year costing the same, with no real improvements with shorter campaigns. People here are complaining about a game that easily can take you into 100 to 1000 hours of game play for 30 dollars. YES there are bugs, yes there are wonky animal movements. I spend more at a fast food restaurant for my family in one sitting for 15 mins of enjoyment; when you compare the cost of this beautiful scenery, the open world aspects, and the chance to spend time in game enjoying these with your friends or family it's well worth the cost. NOT TO MENTION, if any of the people complaining had even a 1/4 of the programming skill, the budget, and approval to make a better game, then sure as hell quit complaining and go make the game so that more people like you can go to your youtube videos and complain about how sucky your game is and how many bugs it has, and how you could have done 1000 things better and how we would never invest in any of your hard work again because "We think it could be better" mentality. ALL being said, we own 3 copies and we go hunt as a family, and its a great way to spend time together when hunting season in real life isn't here at the time. Thank you for the huge and beautiful game!

Finally someone with common sense! Couldn't agree more bud, always the salt and the tears. It is an amazing game and they are doing a great job to improve upon this very sound foundation. I am in love with it, sometimes just standing and looking around in a forest stunned by the environment and how close it is to the real thing. Its a breathtaking experience and I am very happy to play it daily alone or with friends.

I know this is a late comment, but after seeing the controversy around Hunter Classic (Having to buy virtual licenses), I was glad to see the developer change their approach. Hell they even had a survey asking what people thought was a fair value. I indicated that I like to pay a one time price but don't mind paying for DLC, but prefer a mix of free and paid updates. I feel that is a good balance. I am happy to see how they have handled the game so far. $30 for the initial game is pretty damned reasonable. They added jackrabbits as a free species with Goose being paid DLC. I have since played the game for 30 hours or so and want to play more. It's my go to game when I don't feel like playing anything else. I can just relax and wander around seeing what I can find. It's a beautiful breathtaking game and I love it's greater attention to detail and serving as an actual simulator. The long and short of it is, the companies like EA, Activision, etc. aren't making these kinds of games anymore. There used to be a number of Cabela's games. There really hasn't been an authentic hunting game that nails the atmosphere or feeling of being immersed in the wild. They have since added jackrabbit and geese. I still hope we get to a point where they add some dogs to hunt geese and rabbits. I love rabbit hunting with beagles. In the off season I like to run them at a local club or around my house. But I love to dive into this game during the off season to hunt dear, etc. One thing I like is that unlike Hunting simulator, you aren't penalized for shooting an animal in the neck. In Hunting Simulator this is considered a non-vital hit which is ridiculous.

+Virgin Boy I could see emulation/etc. if it was a 30+ year old game that was hard to come by or was too expensive to otherwise purchase. But if you really do enjoy the game? Consider supporting it by purchasing it. $30 for the initial game is pretty cheap as modern games go. The developers have shown a willingness to improve over the previous release by taking community feedback on board. They have a mix of free and paid DLC content. They got rid of having to pay for virtual licenses too.

Hello from Russia! Hunter: TheHunter: Call of the Wild is the best adventure that I have experienced in all the years of games !!! Stunning living forest! I often went to the stone at the very beginning of the game at the field or at the edge of the forest ... and listened to the noise of the forest :) and the wind in the trees. The fox comes out on the field looking back :) boars I adore their tricky muzzles! Falling foliage! The light of the sun through the trees ... fascinates. Beautiful scenery ... rocks near the shore of the lake, fish in the water. As a fabulous aquarium :) 360 hours of game I'm still in love! Blocky bow and quiet hunting :) search for wild boars and hunting with a bow on them! Once the boars attacked me in turn from 4 directions !!! I filled them with a shot in the forehead of a bow and the last one drove through the grass ... pointed me with my nose! Adrenaline fountain in the head :) I can only bow, I once again discovered on the maps for myself so many amazing beautiful places for hunting ... and thought that I knew the map before! Stop shooting indiscriminately .. observe. Once I was sitting in the foliage bushes at the road for about 10 minutes it seemed all the animals were gone! And then the headphones are barely obedient steps .. the turn of the head in 10 meters quietly stands handsome deer ...the wind and foliage almost concealed it. And he crossed the road ... I did not shoot. Once :)) I with a bow at night crept up to the stones at the field and found a sleeping boar on his side :) stood about 8 meters away from him .. but how to shoot him :)Start hunting with a bow and you will rediscover this world of a wonderful forest :) You are best Expansive Worlds! :)) With love from Russia! My most sincere admiration! Looking forward to additions ...

ronMctube TheHunter I can agree that the game looks stunning in 4k at the highest settings. I'm not sure it's quite ready to win Awards though. The plays well overall but still bit buggy. I just hope that they can get the game fixed perfectly then for sure it will be award-worthy.

@@rattlesnake8531 Why do you consider this game as shit? Of course there are bugs and glitches, but they aren't nearly bad enough to really conflict the gameplay. The game looks absolutely gorgeous and only costs 30$ while being able to be fun for up to 1000 hours of gameplay or more. I cannot say that any other modern shooter (let's say any COD) which costs fucking 60$ can be fun for that long. CODs campaigns usually take about 8 hours to complete and become shittier with every entry while the games price keeps rising for some reason. Just my opinion, but something is wrong with the game industry...

I've only just got into this absolute gem of game. Late to the party again! It is amazing & still being supported 5 years later since its release. Currently waiting for the Australia map to drop in a few days time. I love this game. Completely different to the other games I usually play. We don't have a big hunting culture here in the UK & I wasn't 100% sure I'd enjoy the game but I'm glad I took a punt at it. It's great to chill with after a hectic day at work.

CoTW is easily hands down the best hunting game in existence. It is the only game I have ever played that I always come back to. For starters, the visuals are fricken stunning. No other game provides such beautiful landscapes and sounds. As the video states, it's all about patience and collecting your reward when you harvest that huge buck, bear, mallard, yote, whatever. The animals look great as well and move realistically, the weather and day and night cycle is awesome and provides different strategies as well. With 7 maps available as of 4/19/20 you can literally spend months if not years exploring these humongous maps. The latest updates and the one coming out here really soon will only improve the game. Lastly, EW is the only developer that I have come across that consistently communicates with their player base and listens to their player base. They literally have live streams every week where TK (TreeKiwi) or one or more of the devs chat with us live and answer our questions, and take recommendations into consideration, and we have seen the result of that over the years. For example, we know we are getting turkeys now. They won't tell us when :( But it was confirmed we will get them most likely this year. Another example, i submitted a bug report through their website and less than 24 hours later, they replied with a custom message thanking me for pointing things out and what their actions will be to fix it. So the combination of a wonderful game and a top-notch dev team, make this the best hunting game, if not the best game out there.

When I first saw this game I was on my brother in laws ps4 about November 2020. I was in medved since I didn’t know anything but went to Layton Lakes a bit after. I shot my first animal which was a female moose. I looked for it for like 30 minutes because I took a rear end shot and didn’t know how to track it. It was an amazing experience. It got me into the game and here I am now with my own console playing Srp, Layton, Hirsch, Yukon, medved, and cuatro. I know so much about the game and I love it.

As an actual hunter and outdoorsman this game is a blast. Patience is key. My son and I play multiplayer together. This game takes skill. You can’t just jump in start running and shooting. If you play it that way you won’t have fun. Try tracking and hunting a diamond elk and amd tell me that doesn’t take skill.

So one thing that could be fixed is that when you shoot a deer in the head by accident it doesn’t die right way it runs away after being shot by a .243 or a .308 and it’s frustrating but it’s still a beautiful and wonderful game that I love and enjoy so thank you for the game and the exploration and all the hours of fun that I have gotten from playing this game

I absolutely love this game. The realism is fantastic. I have only experienced 2 problems. The first being that when I, in real life, shoot from prone in the bush, i have nowhere near the same amount of "wobble" when aiming through the scope. This is a problem because it takes away from the realism which makes the game so good. Second is the fact that my guy cant aim fast at al when being attacked by wolves, its something that i hope the developers can fix soon. The game is by far the best that i have ever played. Especially the fact that i feel like i am really in the African bush in Vurhonga savannah. Well done expansive worlds. This game is a masterpiece

during the big lockdown of 2020 I found the hunter classic really helped with forgetting about being stuck inside at home. Load up the game put the earphones on and concentrate on nothing but the screen. Weather it be hunting or just taking a virtual hike and exploring. 2021 A friend got me a ps4 for christmas and call of the wild was one of the to buy games on my list. Its a truly beautiful game and Im doing much the same as I did with the classic version. Its a great game/tool I find for relaxing and yes I got the blood hound and hunting lodge lol. Me and Sherlock Bones (Hunting dog. Dont ask my daughters idea since its a bloodhound d tracker) have clocked quitre a few miles and more will be clocked

I can understand why some say that TheHunter classic is a better game as I have over 1000 hours of game time. But I don't believe it is. Both games have bugs, both games Reward spine shots and both are a heap of fun. But TheHunter classic will never make you get a shiver, make your hairs stand on end, make you feel as if your in the moment or just make you say wow. I've found myself just staring at sunsets and rises. And I often stop tracking an animal just to watch how the sunlight streams between the leaves in a deep Forrest. So yes EW please continue your fine work and take every negative comment with a grain of salt. You guys are going in the right direction with COTW, just please please please add small game and rimfire calibers. And maybe do a little more research about how destructive each round is in real life. Good job guys

In May 2010 Avalanche, the developer of the game, bought back the rights from the publisher, the bankrupt company Emote Games. Avalanche founded the company EW as publisher and so the misfortune took its course. At that time there was only one territory and that was WH Island. Already at that time the intelligent part of the player community asked to repair the gameplay before integrating new features and hunting grounds. But that didn't happen and the result can still be seen clearly today, because the same old bugs still exist or appear again and again despite being fixed. And TH CotW has been on the same track for almost 2 years now. A beautiful graphic, but from the beginning a broken gameplay. Full of bugs and clitches but it is only doctored around at the sympthoms instead of programming a new working gameplay. So EW has been working for almost 9 years.....

I came across this game first whilst looking for a new Hunting game in late 2017. I was looking for a game that would really work well and be more realistic than you’re Cabellas big game hunter and things, something where you can hunt the big and small animals, male and female and of course i searched for new or upcoming games and found this one and decided to try it out. To this day i love the game more than any game I’ve played before. It’s peaceful and takes the player to another world almost, and i feel i can say, it transports the player to a better world. Keep up the great work you people are doing. Ps : i saw what you did with Strecker and the in game shotgun :)

Love your game. You made the european forest so perfect. I live in south germany, and I can walk outside a mile ant there are the black forests that you can see in this game. God, its so perfect. Its like I can take my home with me, the place I grew up as a child, when I have to leave this place and find a new home near my new job. This game is a bit home for me. Thank you.
