Nice mat, I've got the Synmat ultralight, it is really good, but a fraction narrow. I've used it in cold weather and on my last camp on it did feel a little cold so this mat is probably a lot warmer.

Hi Karl.Definitely worth investing in a decent sleeping mat. The only cheaper ones I've tried that are any use for backpacking are the slimmer self inflating ones. I have a Vango one. But they don't have as high an R value as the Downmat, and are a bit heavier and bulkier. One of the most important pieces of kit though, and I think people hate spending on something that can fail so easily 😁

I'm inclined to agree and that's always been my philosophy about spending money on mats. Imagine my disappointment when this one deflated on me and I found a hole in it! However I am glad I've been able to repair it :)

And do u travel with all that gear in the car or walking ? Also.. have you tested out any other self inflating, 10cm thicker, mattresses 😃?

I'm no long distance hiker. Generally it's by car so far then a shortish walk to the pitch point. However I also carry loads on my kayaks and the great thing about that is, a bit like a car, you can take heavier gear. I haven't tried any thicker mats other than the Trekology UL140 😁👍
