Fished the Wandle for 25 years. Great vid! I use half a tin of meat on a size 2 hook.. weighty enough in most cases to travel totally naturally.. and you’d be amazed at the size of some barbel that’ll take that! As in 1-2lbers 😳🙂

Thanks for watching Leon. I've heard stories about people using huge baits like a whole slice of bread and hald a tin of meat, I've never been brave enough to give it a go. Future video maybe. Tight lines.

My local Big Issue seller has had a 9lb trout out of the Wandle on bread! I suppose the duck feeders have added to their dietry make up...

Wow that's amazing, an absolute beast of a Trout. Thanks for watching. Tight lines.

hi bit late but could you give me some guidance about the rig you used I don't know much about carp/barbel tactics

Hi Joe, thanks for watching. I fished very simply, 10lb line tied to a size 8 hook and a bit of spam on the hook, I added shit if need to get to the bottom, just cast around and feel for bites! It's so simple and fun. Tight lines.

@@PaulVicaryfishing any technique or tactic to hooking the spam?

@joecharlton2571 I tend to use a speed stop from guru. But you can just hook it straight on. Hook and turn the hook in the meat.

What a lovely little river, what are your experiences of the Wandle?
@stephencrabtree31616 ай бұрын
Fished it just like you wandering around and rolling meat... I use green plasticine rather than a weight that way you can add or subtract a bit to match the flow and keep it rolling gently. All stretches are pretty good... above the beddington carrier is shallower but can have some good fish if you find the little features
@PaulVicaryfishing6 ай бұрын
@@stephencrabtree3161 thanks for watching and the plasticine is a good tip, as the last swim under the bush was really deep and it needed loads more weight to get it below the branches. Tight lines.

Thanks for watching. Unfortunately I'm not a local so not sure where it is. The wandle fishing groups on Facebook will know and they are very helpful. Tight lines.
