I'm sure the "leave the pilot for last, he's already dead" had more to do with having to decide who can still be saved and who needs immediate attention. I think the medical term for having to make that decision is "triage".

back then there were no age restrictions on driving , in fact all you needed to do is fill out basically a registration card with your personal description and residence information and sent it in to the earliest version of what we know as DMV today. In fact for decades you even made your own license plate once you heard back from DMV they included a number you were to put on your home made place . some were rubber some were carved on wood whatever you had handy to put the number on you used. until DMV became what they are now you didn't even have a recurring plate registration fee some time after WWII things changed. IF you ever come across any of those old hand made plates hang on to them Collectors pay good money to acquire them

36:10 back then the camera systems were still analog and had film that had to be taken out the camera at their base and processed. Wireless transmission was still decades away, even the first satellites would jetison their film over the ocean and be retrieved by the Navy and processed.

Cuz he made that a successful mission with that footage. If not for him an his crew following through a making it back we might have won that fight.

@@nadjasunflower1387 I understand the reasoning behind sending him to do it but it just blows my mind a little because they knew it was a unalive mission and it seemed that they kept trying to put them in those positions to ultimately die an not have him an his guys apart of the military anymore because of his disobedience towards them which was very inspiring to me because he is really the definition of No Code - no going by the book in order to succeed an going off course to find what makes you happy and feel fulfilled in life 🤷🏽‍♂️
@nadjasunflower1387
@nadjasunflower1387 4 ай бұрын
@@NoCodeLive it's a bit ironic. by the time this mission comes around, they're not really on the unalive mission list parameters anymore. Which might get lost in translation because how fast TFE has to speak to get through all the material and keep the video as short as possible. That was only a small part, shortly before they were grounded for disobeying orders. Once they'd rebuilt ole 666, they were then volunteering for the dangerous missions list again. That thing that they were made to stop because they were too valuable. Which got them the nickname " eager beavers ". Basically they went just back to doing their thing with the dangerous missions like they'd been doing previously to them having a falling out with upper leadership, because upper leadership wanted to protect them by sending them on the ' normal ' missions in a protected spot. The last mission they volunteered for as well. So they weren't being ' sent out ' to actively try and kill them like it might seem. The upper command has an incredibly dangerous mission to get done, and these guys were already doing them. So, you ask the guy who's already doing them (has the most experience doing them) if he'd fly it. Then his crew volunteers to go with him, because as they said, they'd have followed him anywhere he wanted to go. So the actual time frame of the upper command not giving a crap whether these guys lived or died is a small part of the video. Not throughout the entirety of it. It just so happens they were complete bad asses that kept doing stupidly impossible missions, and got the boss fight at the end. -sorry for the book just a lot to try and explain -

40:18 That's just triage. It's not a slight against Jay. He was so far gone it made sense for the medical crew to worry about the ones they could save. They weren't just going to leave him there.

Seriously - sorry but are you asking if this footage is being transferred back to base real time in the 40's, where they are using a cumbersome 3 tier system where they cannot move the bomber for 22 minutes, that is recorded in the plane itself. The plane at that point is the biggest diamond and prize ever and everything on it.

lol...complete and utter...NOPE !!! the engines of the B-17 were Cyclone engines (radial engines NOT V-8's). TFE says this during the rebuilding of Lucy. Grumman has always used a cat naming scheme. f4f wildcat, f6f hellcat, f7f tigercat, and the modern though retired F-14 Tomcat. has nothing to do with Dodge Hellcat, what so ever...considering Hellcat was only made, ida know....80 years later ??

@@nadjasunflower1387 So does that mean they down host the same type of engines as the cars even though it’s been 80+ years and in cars now instead of planes ? Or the names are just similar and they have no correlation to each other rather than just coincidence ?
@nadjasunflower1387
@nadjasunflower1387 4 ай бұрын
@@NoCodeLive different engines, and yes no correlation. Just a naming coincidence. Radial engines are air cooled, a car engine is liquid cooled. in a radial engine the firing chambers with pistons are on the edges of the engine. in a car engine they're internal. just two of the differences. The closest thing a production car has ever had to a plane engine, is the Mazda RX series with ...a radial engine, though still engineered to be internally operated. (that I can think of off the top of my head) Then going back to his statement, those Rolls Royce engines are completely different too. Again, they were aircraft engines that just happened to be made by Rolls Royce, their not sticking Rolls Royce car engines in planes or Apache attack helos.

NO, it was NOT transmitted back to the base, the technology for that would not exist for another 50 years, it was FILM, that had to not only make it back to the base, but all 3 reels had to SURVIVE UNDAMAGED, and then be developed and put together for it to be useful. so IF they did not make it back to the base, the film would also be lost and the mission would be a failure.
