I found an interesting way to effectively prevent algae on the beginning of the setup. I used pothos(sirih gading) that has been rooted on another tank.

Fish food?? Between the compost and food, your Nitrogen compounds will spike for sure.. With dirt or nutrient soils... Many use Cycled media in a hang on the back.. or canister filter.. to keep ammonia processed down... And keeps water moving.. So even bacteria in the gravel can get going to process organics. For algae control. And all the water changes like you are doing... (no criticism here.. I love the trial.) Again. Thx for sharing your experiment for the rest of us.. ! Cheers! 🍻 -Scotty on Maui.

This is regular glass, but the aquarium maker is very skilled.

the ending was epic, shrimp got startled by itself lol. I've never used hperoxide before since it'll harm sensitive plants. Looking forward for the future of your algae warfare. I myself is fighting cyanobacteria, it's unkillable too 🤣 do u have solution for this ? hahaha

Cyano bacteria are bacteria. So yeah, bacteria medication work on them.

Maybe you should test your water to see what minerals are lacking or in excess before adding blindly more stuff... it seems logical to me that to resolve a problem, you need to know what causes the problem in the first place, not just guessing... also, from experience, with dirt/garden soil or vermicompost, you always have problem with algaes because the nutriements are already in high quatity, especially when you use so much. less is more, even in aquariophily!

This algae started to appear on my DIY sponge filter in a daphnia culture. They are not related to dirt. They grow everywhere, hard or soft water, nutrient rich or poor water, low light or high light. I've been fighting them for 2 years now. None of any advice worked. When plants grow and cover my pond, they form dense mat in the bottom. They crawl in the 'almost completely dark'. When I took some of the plants, they grew quickly upward.
@DavidYogiFolies2 жыл бұрын
I have them too. the more nutrients the faster they grow tho... I collect the mat they formed once a month and use them to feed my plants in the garden. the only way to sort of keep them at bay is when you really overplant the tank. when it is out of control, I just bring my supercrew: big snails, shrimps, siamese algae eaters and plecos, take out all other animals and don't feed the tank til their work is done. work wonders against almost all types of algaes, included the brown/black one.
@CoretanIjo2 жыл бұрын
@@DavidYogiFolies Oh, I never tried pleco before. I think I can try it in my pond to see if it'll eat my algae. Thank you for the information. 🙏

@@CoretanIjo glad if I could help. I found the best results with a combination of nerite snails, pleco and young siamese algae eaters.

@@CoretanIjo search Anoxic filter (or plenum) for your pond.. Just a note.. My hornwort tub of fish on the floor has no algae. Low light. My RO water jug in my van even got some algae from all the sun. Lastly, daphnia cultures are High ammonia or nitrogen by nature. All that feeding...
