Compared to the number of people in the water, though? I can see like 50 people on surfboards from my window as I type this, and that's just the one break I can see.

The state has not had a shark eradication program for a long time, and no one to fish out the big ones. They are coming back strong. The state really doesn’t care. Soon we will become how Mauritius used to be. It just won’t be safe to go into the water anymore.🤔

30 yds through the break wall or from??? If it was 30 yards outside they’d say so…. If it swam 30 yds inside of the magic island break wall, that is INSANE. That’s the last place I would ever worry about encountering a tiger.

Maybe because it’s Hawaiian monk seal pupping season that’s bringing them in? Maybe Hawaiian monk seals are having a population growth and that’s drawing sharks to shore where monk seals give birth?

@@p3l3_99 Who knows, maybe global warming is throwing the season off, but I don’t think so, because the vast majority of sighting and attacks usually happen off Maui, that’s mostly where sharks pup, but these attacks and sightings are O’ahu and Big Island. But then again, maybe global warming is making them pup in different waters 🤷🏽‍♀️. I still think it’s most likely the monk seals pupping that’s causing it though, that or maybe RIMPAC like others suggested.

@@OSheaGlobalAlliances If you have that kind of ability to not dwell on it, l truly admire you. If you enjoy the ocean so much you’re willing to swim with huge carnivores, you are a very brave individual. Being raised in the desert l have no love of the ocean at all. No desire to go there, see it, or get in it. Went once at age 16, went in, found out later ppl were shark fishing on a pier next to where l was swimming! I’ve seen the ocean once since then. Went by myself and just watched the water. Gave me the willies. Didn’t find it appealing at all. I guess its just a different mindset. I don’t even eat seafood, so its hard for me to understand, but l hope you always enjoy your time there and that you stay safe. God bless!

You could say the same thing about a certain animal in an area when their population booms. My area has had a spike in cougar pop since you can’t hunt with dogs anymore and the cougars are eradicating deer populations. By the way, your comment is one I see time and time again from people who are not educated enough on a subject to comment. Have a good day:)
