Just installed one of these yesterday, watched this before I started and it really helped out. Only took two hours but I had to extend the bottom of the door sill 3/4 of and inch to get the seal to close at the bottom, had to set it up for left open and then flip the lock, easy DIY project.

The extra strips are optional and go at the bottom of the frame rail extender caps.

Just bought my Larson storm glass door, and with the frame, the frame of my house is too narrow, and it will not fit. What can I do? Do you recommend that I trim the entrance frame to be able to put the door up?

Yes you can trim the brickmolding or exterior trim up to 1/2"-3/4" to widen the opening. Doi -- NOT trim your actual entry door jamb. Get a custom door size if that is the case. When widening the trim, split the difference on either side. Meaning if you need to widen 1/2", remove 1/4" material from both each side. Here's a video to show you: kzbin.infojpquC-CYag0

What if my opening measures 35 13/16 inches? Will I be able to fit it into the opening with the Larson signature series 36 inch? I read the tolerance is 35 ⅞ to 36 inches. Will this be problematic? Height is not an issue. Great video!

You should be fine. I've been able to fit a standard 36" door into a 35 3/4" opening. May have to remove spacers from strikeplate. If it doent work, just remove 3/16" of trim from the hing side of the opening to get a 36" width.

You have to tighten the strike plate on the latch frame rail. Loosen the top and bottom screw and move the strike plate closer to the house closer closer to the inside.

I'm sorry,I didn't make clear,the light is coming thru from the left side of the door top to bottom when it's close, it's a small crack top to bottom of door

What would you do if you don't have the inch gap between the two door handles?

You don't need much space between the handles, just make sure they don't interfere with each other. Storm door manufacturers offset their handles from where a standard entry door handle is so 99% of the time it's not a problem. For the 1% of the time it is a problem. you have to ad shims behind the storm door frame to move the storm door away from the opening to create the needed gap.

I had Lowe's install mine, and they did a terrible job. The bottom sweep is short on both sides, so I'm ordering a replacement and going to attempt to swap it out myself. They also came and installed it when I wasn't home (I specifically told them not to), and so they weren't able to push the extender down to fit the door from the inside. There is air underneath and on both sides because of these things. I tried lowering the extender by removing the screws. One won't come out without a power drill (I don't own one), and the other literally broke in two pieces since they'd originally screwed it in too high. It's a disaster. I'm so mad.

Sorry to hear that. It's actually against Lowe's policy to have an installer onsite without someone over the age of 18 present. You could call Lowe's corporate and make your experience known. Their phone number is [phone].

@@stormdoorguy It was installed back in late 2020, so I'm sure there's not much they can do. They also didn't install the lock correctly at first, and it was stuck locked for about a month until they randomly stopped by to fix it. Again, I wasn't home, and they never even notified me that they fixed it. It just worked one day. It was a horrible experience.

What if on the bottom hinge the metal rod was pulled out before installing how can it go back in.

You’ll have to probably order a new hinge rail. Once you pull that pin out, I don’t know that it can go back in because their pressure set at the factory.

They go on the inside of the rail cap extenders at the bottom if you need them. Just cut to size.
