I've cut a lot of schedule 40 PVC over the years while working on swimming pools and I'll take my Milwaukee M12 PVC pipe shear all day. One thing to take note of when using the PVC shear. In cold weather old pipe can break before it's cut so I still keep my m12 Fuel one handed hackzall close by. Can't forget about the PVC cable saw they come in clutch!! 👊👊👍👍

Nice Vince, how about showing tools to hang drywall on a ceiling next ? & screw or nail it? & glue to joist ? Yes or no?

I use a miter saw. you're right the oscillating blade works great in tight spots. I also use a reciprocater 😊

Nothing beats a rope saw for tight places. It's much faster than tool setup

Hackzall with a metal blade for up to 3in and a beveler if needed. Circ saw for lager pipe. We install 6" x 12" SDR a lot and a circ saw with an 60 tooth blade works best.

I was surprised you didn't show how to cut it with string. Using a good string would have made fast work of cutting that and a nice straight clean cut.

Sawzall with Diablo General purpose or nail embedded wood works for 1.25 (inch and a quarter) and bigger PVC and ABS when I'm cleaning scrap pipe into small pieces

I just recently had to replace a 2nd floor shower drain that was glued to the flange (early 90s build) and any kind of power saw (recip or oscillating) was too clumsy and in danger of damaging the existing trap or the fiberglass tub. Close quarters cutter to the rescue! I think it was a Wheeler-Rex brand, pricey but less pricey than replacing the whole drain assembly or heaven forbid the whole shower if I really missed.

I’m a plumber and I literally just use a Lenox Hacksaw. Or Sawzall. Whichever is closer at the moment.
@lynnpitsinger10 ай бұрын
Total disclosure, I’ve done plumbing professionally for 27 years. I usually just crank out the Sawzall. It does require practice and patience. That said, have you tried a cable saw? Not 100% square but close enough and you can get into crazy tight spaces safely. Beats the hand saw and no worries about getting your power tools wet. 😁

You can throw a good Plumber into any situation and they will always find a way. But the best tip you can give a homeowner or DIY'er is to ream or chamfer your cut inside and out!

Yup, you can throw good money after bad but we all know what they’ll say!
