Real ANTIQUES in Real Museum APPRAISAL FAIR! | VINTAGE Values
The little town of Greensboro, Florida packs surprises in the 1912 home of its most prominent early settler! We're guest hosting an appraisal fair as a fundraiser to support the West Gadsden Historical Society and their plucky group of volunteers, who are making it a fun and worthwhile place for history buffs and antique lovers to visit!
We start (and finish) with appraisals of actual values of everything from a silver mine's placer chart to a corn shucker that I needed help from viewers to correctly identify! Tiffany and stoneware, regional art and vernacular roadside paintings get equal time among this diverse group of items to be appraised.
Then we take a tour of this 'thrifted' museum, where donations include a very valuable piano, the likes of which most people have never seen! This is a time capsule of the early days of Florida settlement, with a spirited group of people taking us through the lives of the early settlers to this post-antebellum Panhandle town.

George That small barrel thing is a corn kernel remover. You place the corn on the cob on that center piece then use a knife to slide down and remove each kernel. The kernels then fell in the Bucket. I have used one.

Hi George, I believe the corn bowl with the knob was used to cut the corn off the cobs; you would set the bottom of the cob on the knob and then trim off the corn kernels which would fall into the bowl.

The reality of antiques is usually in the story. Lots of people own many old things but only a small amount of it is a rags to riches story. Like the Faberge Egg found in a thrift shop. Personally I collect what I like, the price is tertiary. Did you know Simpson Sears sold House Kits over 100 years ago! I wonder if that classifies them as Antiques. I stayed in one that was a B&B it was a beautiful little home.

Flooding is why in most places, my Kentucky box house is built on piers because it's near water. But in Florida and Hawaii it was done even away from water for air circulation

@@TheAntiqueNomad that's impossible because nothing circulates through the house only underneath it I don't want to argue with you anyways have a great day hundreds of thought of a big rig box truck going down the road do you think cuz it's going 65 miles an hour that it's receiving any ventilation back there the answer is no because it has no holes to the outside same thing with a house on brick
