Neil Bradon there are also PvE servers that run dynamic campaigns and you really only have to worry about AI (and the occasional TKer)

ya I mostly play PvE games because the campaigns are fun and still challenging and you get to play with people, just not against people. I highly recommend trying some dynamic campaign PvE servers.

Hello there Grim Reapers and fellow pilots! I just took the step and joined multiplayer - Burning Skies - seems fun - but I still have a TON of noob questions - can someone point me in the direction to a basic tutorial for like: - Are there a time when one side wins and the game restarts? - or is it just everlasting dogfighting, without any progress in the "match"? - What are the objectives? (it said I should destroy enemy ground targets - how can I find and identify them? Do the team benifit from me destroying ground targets? How? - Which airbase is friendly/enemy? Does it change over time? - Is there a way to know where I am, to navigate? (beside looking thru the window) The F10 map doesn't show location of either allies nor my position. - The radio is talking stuff - when do I know when they are talking about me? - I know how to ask for refuel, ammo - but how do I ask permission to take off or land? - Is there a right/wrong end of runway to take off from or land on? - Where is the most common "battle areas"? - Which direction should I travel? (I started in Anapa-something and traveled down coast to the southeast I think - which seemed natural but I could just as well have traveled to the opposite direction... When I started to loose sight of friendly base I went home and landed - I think my fuel was already low.) - How do I see which players are on my team? Are there any scoreboard with stats and stuff? - On Burning skies server there is info about a dot to make spotting easier (shift+F10) - how do I know if its on or off? (I couldnt see any dots) - On Burning skies I couldnt change skin (custom/variations) nor number on my plane - are these options removed in multiplayer? (why? the custom skin is on client side and the others shouldnt make any problems?) - why havent I given up already? well thats all I can think of for now - very confusing this game - but I did start the plane - traveled thru the lawn, took off, climbed, saw an enemy plane for 10 seconds AND landed! No small feat for my first sortie! :D

Latency is the reaction speed of your internet connection, i.e. the time it takes for data to travel from your device to the server. Lag is the delay in arrival of a packet from its source to the destination. In gameplay, this means a delay between pressing a command button and the game responding on-screen. Ping is the unit used to measure latency, as an average time in milliseconds. The time it takes for the ping messages to travel from origin to destination is used to measure latency. Great video.

Ok so I've fixed my inability to connect to multilplayer server and posted this to someone else before who had the same issue so just in-case someone else out there like me has the same problem and is reading this, here's what fixed it for me... Go to Windows Defender Firewall > Advanced Settings > Inbound Rules > Select DCS (both of them, don't need to select the DCS updater though) and "disable rule" on the right hand side on both. Now my pings are where they should be 30 to 50ms on servers with 10 or so people in them, and more importantly I can connect into the game. Also on my travels, change your DNS to 1.1.1.1 and secondary to 1.0.0.1 (That wouldn't have fixed the problem, but will help with connection on thees kind of servers, and for some of you, a HECK of a lot too) best DNS server on the planet right now, and vs your ISP will be much better for gaming. Change this in your TCP/IP settings. I'll copy and paste this on a few other videos like this people having these problems. So there you have it, god damn firewall...That's even AFTER when you first run DNS it asks you whether to allow the connection on public and private and I said both, and despite that the rule allowing that connection in the firewall rules ironically is somehow actually preventing it.....Anyway, off to play!

I know how to join a multiplayer server. I just want to be at least half competent in my chosen aircraft before I do. I can complete campaign missions in my F-15, and not rely on the AI to down enemy planes for me, dodge missiles and generally get around fine. I just feel that's not enough yet.

I want a WW2 prop fighter server, but when I join one of the very rare ones (such as Burning Skies), the map view (F10) doesn't show anyone's location and I can't even see my own location on the map. So, I fly around for hours and can't find anyone to dogfight! Is this the way it's supposed to be? Just flying around blindly without finding anyone? Doesn't sound like much fun. Any suggestions? Is there something I'm supposed to do before joining and taking off?

What people forget is we where all once newbies to online gaming.Yes most games use same way to log onto multiplayers. I been playing online games way back 2001 when in the UK you only had AOL who where the only IP plus 56k Dial-up which now is like the dinosaur age. It take a full day just to download the game.I only found muliplayer by clicking onto it.I did not even know what it was.I was thinking you linked up PC's but after I filled in the profile and update the game I was blown away when I first hear someone talking.I was bad and hooked playing hours to the point thatmy mum took my door key to her house.All my brother's couldn't why I was playing a game until they got PS4 many years later.Now they know what I was hook on.I can say there more addictive then drugs. Anyway Grim Reapers thank you for all your DCS Videos am new to DCS and jets I play alot of WW2 sims I find your vidoes alot of help keep up the good work

Hey, I'm a nub. Took bout 40 years for me to start flying online. TODAY I had my first tries in an A10. 1st try: yolo in low, got shot down halfway by an f16 trackin me ez 2nd try: got spwnkilled sortof by an f14, lightin me up already on the tarmac 3rd try: I found the objective by directly overflyin it, got shot down by light aa 4th try: lads in team covered my arse beautifully, and I wasn't useless finally, could destroy most off the stuff on ground. Guys, it's fun! :D

I'm pretty late, but hopefully this will help someone: Run the fix utility, just to make sure and LOG IN. You need to create an account on dcs world's website and use that login information to login ingame and you should be good to go.

Are you in the Beta edition or Stable release? Obviously if you're in the beta version it could potentially be tempermental. Another thing. as Cap said, is that with large missions with lots of players it could take a long time to load properly. Just leave it to load and you should find it works ok.

Tough one to answer. They are all different. some are Cooperative based and require you to team up with buddies against ground targets, some are deathmatch. I don't have a guide for that. I've just got to know them by joining them and spending 100's of hours in them.

Ivan you have to create an account and log in when you open the game. That was my problem. I think the account has to be created online.

Tried logging in to 3 different servers just now and game crashed each time. Also, all the ones I want to join have passwords. Where am I even supposed to find out how to get the password? Yesterday I have been watching loading screens and DCS World freeze on me for about 1.5h while trying to join a server 4 times. Multiplayer in DCS world is a total mess compared to what it used to be in the past. I never had any issues connecting to servers >1y ago and loading times in single player were a lot less too. I'm literally spending 90% of my time in DCS watching loading screens now. i7-3770 3.5GHz - GeForce GTX970 - 16GB RAM - DCS + 32GB pagefile on C:\SSD SATA. In single player I have about 60FPS consistently due to GSYNC. DCS have completely f****d up multiplayer experience.

newbie here. spent my life until now wasting time on regular video games when i should have been here! but seriously im having issues. when i get into a server i click briefing then fly and im looking a blank point on an airfield. i have zero clue how to get into a cockpit and fly. also im having issues with combat. its not clear why my missile shoots sometimes after lock but then sometimes never again. im in need of a mentor thats for sure.

I'm getting a weird bug. Join a multiplayer server, click on the plane to fly, Briefing > Fly, and then I'm hovering in the air, unable to enter the cockpit. I can use F keys to switch views, EXCEPT F1 (cockpit view) doesn't work... I know the person that made the mission set the plane SKILL to "Client." Anyone have any suggestions?

sometimes when I join a server and select a role it spawns my aircraft in a hardened bunker/hanger with the doors closed. I am unsure or unable to open the doors and my only option is to go back out, and change my role. doing this the doors then open automatically. Is there a better solution for this? and why does this happen?
