How I've been learning the modules is by reading the manual and watching 1 or 2 of your tutorial vids about a particular subject, then practice it in the game. Then repeat for the other weapons etc. Thank you so much for the tutorial video's!

Another way is to read the real plane's manual. Like f-14, f-15. Some times it's thousands of pages. But you will just learn more about this plane.

My only problem with official even though I use then is they first require you to know the location and names of every system. Doesn't help when its telling you the button your looking for is simply on the left or right panel full of dozens of other buttons that rarely have names on them that actually reference what they are in 6DoF craft. Chucks m2000 guide is better than the offical manual because it provides pictures for the location of each button when its referencing it.

Also, the built in tutorials in DCS for modules like the A10-C, F-5, and F/A-18 are quite good for learning the basics. They each only take a few minutes and after you run through them a couple of times you can pretty much start up and operate all of the FCS.

Chucks guides on a 2nd screen or tablet are a good way to go. Videos are good before and after but a PDF that you can look at quick really help. Watching GR run missions helps. I stop the vid and look at what all the gauges say just to get an idea of what's going on with the entire aircraft at the time. TIME. Put the TIME in. BL3 is still cursing me for not spending time with it.

I do wonder how many have actually read the manual(s) (even partially). Personally I go through the manual to get the over all impression. Then I go to one single weapon, read about it, look at the appropriate GR video and go out training that until it is familiar. Then on to the next weapon and so on. The basis for this is that I already understand flying from thousands of hours of flying in various flight sims. It should also be said - as CAP did the other way around - that no one can be an expert in more one, may be two modules. So pick your choice: Be an expert in one plane or two - or be 5% in a number of planes. Just look at the training needed to become a F16 pilot IRL. I don't know for sure, but I imagine something like 3-500 hours flying - plus all the class room stuff.

Well too be honest i doubt you even can learn multiple at the same time, when i started i got the f-16c and hornet on sale and tried my hand at them but it took me half a year to get ready to learn either the fa18 or f16 since i just didnt know what anything was, best is to just start on the su-25t as its free and youll learn the real basics (ie hsi, vvi, aoa, etc things that are universal for alot of planes)

I have sat in cockpits to start APUs to get power to operate military aircraft systems. I am not a pilot but, the FAA seems to want treat all of us that fly RC planes as though we were. They are now attempting to require us to put transponders in our RC planes. Sorry off topic gripe... Because of my military background understanding the systems has always came pretty easy to me. I always enjoy your tutorials and your attempt to keep them up to date. Not just the planes but the mission editor as well. There in lies my biggest problem. Keeping up with all the up dates. My manuals never seem to update much. Last time I checked my Mirage manual still showed the old cockpit as an example. Having learned much of the Hornet it started changing so now I am relearning some of it through yours and others videos. My FC3 planes always seem to stay the same fortunately. For the most part anyway. I haven't messed with my A 4 in some time so I have no Idea. Again thank you for all your efforts.

first thing i do is think "what is the same in this plane from any other plane that i've flown before" mostly it's just the same buttons in every plane, they're just in different places in the cockpit or different buttons on an mfd... and once i have all that figured out by trial and error, everything else i look up in the manual... i only use tutorial videos for super specific things for instance, where i can't remember if it's tms up long or down long cause i haven't flown the a-10 in months... takes less time to quickly type it in youtube than it does to go into the manual.

Doing stuff the wrong way can be fun too and it should't be dismissed. When I first got into dcs I just wanted to fly around and shoot stuff. Your vids are probably fastest way to get missile of the rail, because trying random buttons didn't got me very far. When novelty wears off that's when you get manual and start doing stuff the right way.

It would be fun to see some vids where you talk someone unfamiliar with dcs through plane startup, takeoff, nav, attack, refuel, and landing from the perspective of an atc emergency talk through. Many new users are using VR and having that audio playing while under the hood could be a game changer!

I just started with DCS and my preferred method is vids, going to the documentation whenever I can't find a video that talks about the issues I run into. I've been watching videos from GR, Wagner and a couple of other locations and taking notes, then going into the game and putting what I learned to practice. So far, as I am new, I'm still just learning proper start up, taxiing, take off and basic landing on the various planes that I purchased (Flaming Cliffs 3 pack, F-5, F-18, F-16, Spitfire and Mustang) Once I can handle that, then I plan to move on to radar, navigation and communications, then move on to maneuvers and tactics and finally combat practice in both AA and AG modes.

Anton Grahn Yeah you totally should be able to do that. I have 2 programs, scp toolkit and antimicro, that allow me to use ps3 controllers for any game. The Saitek X45 has a decent throttle for the price. Real shit, the X45 is still an absolutely solid intro stick with a full hotas. The T-16000 -is- better, but it is also more expensive. You can get a full X45 for like 76$ (before shipping) on amazon right this second. But it -is- also fairly limited. The X52 (which is shit without physical modding) and the X52 Pro (which exists for a reason) are way better. It really depends heavily on the aircraft you want to fly. Understand that you won't really be limited ,because you can always use your keyboard. Some aircraft need more hotas stuff than others obviously. You'll feel pretty silly flying a Huey with a 650 button 18 axis hotas. lmao

Kinesthetic learning (American English), kinaesthetic learning (British English), or tactile learning is a learning style in which learning takes place by the students carrying out physical activities, rather than listening to a lecture or watching demonstrations. This is me. I cannot just read or watch. I have to be immersed to learn. My 50 years plus of learning audio and video and computers are filled with this. But I have used all 4 of your systems here. Books or Manuals as you say, as awesome methods and references. Mix with the tutorials and take the items 1 and 2 are my last ways to learn. I am not about to learn someone's bad habbits. I am not a heavy bookworm, but I mix 3 and 4 massively. I love aircraft anyway, and encourage a friend of mine to get his single engine rated pilot license. Later I will advance to multi engine rated. Last thing I want to be is a "Wagnor"!!!! Love the videos. Your channel is my favorite. Looking to further support you and drop someone else. You are doing the good work here. I don't say that lightly. I have been around too long to see and believe the fakes. Your channel is most real. And I enjoy it. Thanks again!
