Great video, but I'm wondering where the flat bar fits in the range of stiffness compared to the round bars when it's fitted in either the flat or vertical positions?

round gold is stiffest. then silver then chrome. then vert flat bar, then flat bar horizontal .

Thanks for the video, Power Republic! Why do you put in the stiffest bar when the track is sticky, but also when the track is wet and grip is very low?
@PowerRepublic3 жыл бұрын
Hello Sajan, great question and thanks for tuning in. My guess is to cure understeer. At our local track when it is hot and sticky the karts seem to understeer. so we add the front bar as the meeting goes on and the tyres start to degrade. also too, when it is wet, the chassis I don't want to flex in the front, so I add the front torsion bar to stop that so we get some good mechanical jack as we go though the corners. hope that helps, try it out at your local track and let me know how it goes for you?
@DJNoseT3 жыл бұрын
Hi Derek, great video and explanation! I was always wondering about the functionality of it in a kart. Interesting that it is the opposite to a normal car. There you soften the front to gain more front grip. Keep it up:)
@PowerRepublic3 жыл бұрын
yeah DJ the karts are unique. not having coil spring suspension, you have to control the spring rate of your frame loosening and tightening the bars. do you have a Tony Kart too? or something else? the fundamentals are essentially the same for all modern karts

@@PowerRepublic You are right. Karts are very special! I had an old CRG from 08 with an Iame Leopard the last years. I wanted to try something with a more modern geometry. There was no money to buy completly new. I found a good deal on a used Sodi RS3 from the German nationals 2019 and decided on a new X30 engine:)
@PowerRepublic3 жыл бұрын
the sodi karts are a solid performer. Good work, a used kart with a brand new engine is probably the best combo for cost saving, As it is the engine that gives you the most heart ache and most people can't fix them themselves.

@jaspereerdekens3102 Жыл бұрын
For racecars putting a softer setting on the front anti roll bar increases grip on the front axle. As I understood it that isn't really the case for a kart. It seems to be more tricky?
@PowerRepublic Жыл бұрын
more art than science with karts. sensitive little suckers
@Rob-uu8wt3 ай бұрын
A kart uses the caster and a wide scrub radius to drop the inside front tire when turning, which lifts the inside rear, allowing the kart to turn. Karts don't have differentials so they need to lift the inside rear or they will not turn.

I use aluminium bar with lots of holes as a front bar. It's installed to the frame with shrinkable rubber tubing. The idea is avoid my 401R to lose it shape from left side. It tends to rise because so many tracks have long stressing corners to the right.

I see the clamp for the rear one, but no bar. In the video, you're only talking about front, is the rear bar can help rigidity as well? It is not problem with fatness, hi is just big. We are driving with 401 s a and I have no ideas what to do to reduce the weight. Thank you. Alen Mahnich. Ps your videos are phenomenal 👍 Sorry I don’t now where can I write you a question so i wrote here.

Hey Alen, thanks for the positive vibes. Great question. You could remove - seat stay and front bar - third bearing and cassette - Datalogger - use a tillett t11 VG seat - make customs alloy crash protection - use a lightweight battery But really at 10kg’s over , he’s just grown early and needs to get into senior Category soon with extra weight allowing. Cause you can only really get about 5kg’s off with everything on that list.

I had no idea the standard ones are adjustable like that. Id bet most people buy the round ones not realising the standard can be rotated to make it stiffer. The fact its so easy to adjust makes that seem like the better option, so why do people swap if they know??
@PowerRepublic3 жыл бұрын
my guess is that some one won a race with it once, so we all bought the gold one too and then that is why it always wins now. but for the finer tuning of the kart the different bars will flex differently, similar to the different axle grades. 'tune - ability' is key to success with the devil in the details
@nalinshah14653 жыл бұрын
also the flat bar doesn’t have the same range as the round bars. so the flat bar in the stiffest position is still not as stiff as the gray or gold bars. changing the position of the flat bar is not a substitute for the round bars.

Yeah sometimes you need that little bit extra, guess that's why the gold bar is so popular
