For Chevy, I would chose High Country for a personal truck and WT or “Work Truck” for the company, which still has Bluetooth, Touch Screen, ETC. But I can’t drive yet, so what do I know! Lol

I've got a Platinum F-150 which just kind of happened. I was actually looking at a Lariat F-150 which had all I wanted but it was new and would've raised my monthly payment about $100. So I passed and just so happened to be there when a guy came in to trade his '13 platinum and I went for it. Good choice in my opinion but I really liked the new Lariat. I will be going F-250 next time though.

I would definitely go Lariat. Your right if your gonna by a new truck make it comfortable. For small businesses your truck is your office away from your office. It needs to be a workhorse, be comfortable, and look great. There's nothing more professional than pulling up to a meeting or job-site in a nice truck.

Brian my truck isn’t a new one but for me being an owner operator I have an xl but when I bought it I went to a junkyard and got all the “upgraded” chrome parts I love the ford hd seats they have for the XL trucks my truck looks like a 350 platinum but it’s not it’s just all about how you want the truck to work for me it’s perfect!

I just bought a used gas 2017 F250 STX in Race Red. It is a mixed bag of options. It has the 360 camera system, blind spot monitoring system, step tailgate, premium infotainment system with 8" screen and a sliding rear glass. It has a vinyl floor, cloth seats, and mini console. It has the FX4 off road package with electronic locking diff and electronic 4x4 shift knob. It also has the electronic trailer brake system. I guess the STX package allows a little more picking and choosing of options. I got the extended warranty with it. The truck had 50k miles and is in like brand new condition. No scratches or dents and is as clean as it was off the factory floor inside and out. The sale price was $41k and with state taxes and added warranty it cost $52k. The used truck market is a bit crazy now but I really wanted this truck.

The Lariat is the highest to still get a flip up center seat which is why that’s my target. Very hard to not get a giant plastic console taking up that space now.

Now I am a little more informed on what the Trims are.., but I have a HUGE problem on what Trim my 2001 F250 Super Duty pickup is. The engine is a Triton V8. I looked online to find out if there were any easy specific details that would help me figure out of it's a Lariat, XL or XLT. I get nothing but a lot of rambling sources - which may mean something to guys who are deep technical into a lot of things we normal folks could care less about - so it gets confusing. I even went to the Ford official website., entered the VIN and all I got from them was a downloadable Owners Manual - which I decided at least made it worth my going there. The former owner (my uncle) gave me this work truck because he has serious health issues, quit cabinet building and is moving out of state. I asked him about the truck's Trim. He said (and I quote) It's just a truck" and explained it was given to him by his son who lives in Texas. I have no way to contact him. SO Any Advice from Anyone in the know is very welcome. I need the info so I can order proper parts when needed. There are no markings that identify the trim that I know of - and didn't see any obvious info to that end on the door sticker nor any info under the hood. Any help would be appreciated.

Right now I’m working out of a 2005 F-150 XLT with a 5.4 and 170000 miles, that I drive about 1,200 miles a month work and personal. Cloth seats and very basic interior. ( similar to what a modern XL would be) Granted I am only 16 but I assure you I could afford a nicer than $7200 truck if I wanted to, maybe not $60k but more than $7k. But the thing is, if I know a truck will be used for mowing, and get dirty and the interior get trashed overtime, I could not mentally handle spending over $10k to see it get beat up. My mindset is that a work truck is a work truck, but I will have my lariat or platinum when all I am doing is supervising. Haha sorry for the rant, great video!

Your exactly right on the subject of different trims on f-250's . I'm a owner operator and went with a lariat package 6 months ago. And my thoughts were the same as yours , if I'm gonna spend 60hours in my truck its my office and gonna be comfortable and happy in it..

They lariat and platinum is the boss' truck, the XL or XLT are the crew's truck. For the guys that are going to be using it everyday you want the most basic thing you can get that still does the job the less bells and whistles the less things there are to go wrong and the less things they're going to break because it's not their truck so they're going to beat on it a little bit more.

I prefer well optioned XLTs from Ford. Power windows/locks, cloth seats with front jump seat, power heated mirrors, power telescoping/folding mirrors, rear e locker, on the fly 4x4 with auto/manual locking hubs, non-metallic paint (touch up paint is easier/cheaper to do)

I was uncertain of each trim level, I even worked in Ford dealership as a tech for 3 years. They would come in for service, the King Ranch F350 diesel was the envy of all, my supervisor told me as I readied the truck for sale told me to look at the window sticker. Wow! Loaded new 2016 $89,900+ for King Ranch, diesel, upgraded factory mag wheels, every option available. Unreal could get Mercedes Benz or BMW, yet Ford Pick up, add trucks hold their value, they are investment. Remember when trucks had vinyl seats, rubber floor mats, manual brakes and steering, roll up windows, today you couldn't sell it little lone give it away.

I am a strong proponent of spending the money on the higher end models. My last truck purchase was a 2015 Silverado LTZ. It's got premium leather, heated/cooled seats, heated steering wheel, 8" LCD screen with NAV, adjustable pedals, hill decent control, 4WD, upgraded suspension, 110V power outlets etc etc etc. I am going to spend more time in these trucks than I do in my bed, on my couch etc. I want it to be as nice and comfortable as possible. Also, these options HOLD VALUE. Sure, I paid over $50K for a "work truck" BUT when I sell or trade it, I'm going to get the best price back out of it. I always do it this way and it just makes sense. Not to mention, my accountant writes off $10K per year for five years on the trucks anyway sooo you could potentially see it as a "non-expense." Im paying it to my bank or Im paying it to the IRS. I'll take the nice new truck every time.

In my mind trucks are for working but to each their own. I would rather have a base model and put money towards a nicer car or toys. Premium options that possibly make sense are tow package, plow prep package, power locks, heated mirrors, backup camera, integrated brake controller. Unless you have a large crew I prefer a regular cab for plowing visibility.

I would get a King Ranch because it’s basically the same as the Platinum, but I like the western theme of it. The new Super Duty Limited looks very nice as well, but I really don’t want the power running boards, and the Platinum and Limited come standard with those.

I bought an FX4 only an f150 though. Not a 250 or a 350. It can tow plenty and that locking rear diff has saved me a couple times. It's perfect for the size of my operation currently. I also don't plow as of yet. The 5.0 really screams when you put it to the carpet.

After I bought my truck i started a landscaping company. It is a platinum but it is nice to have all the creature comforts when dealing with snow. In the summer time yes the leather is hotter than cloth, but nothing tint can’t take care of.

Also, to answer your question, the 2017 Super Duty is available in the STX package (a trim and tech level upgrade to the XL package). But, you lose the center console, so it's better to do the front bench seat so you get an armrest.

I do residential lawn service, my rig already is too long in between many driveways. Plus with snow a long box would not help me when plowing driveways, the supercrew is already long enough! But I like the longboxes otherwise, just not applicable for my business needs.

Hey Brian! I run only GMC trucks and that's just a personal choice as with you..... As far as creature comfort , all the trucks out there today are comfortable more so than say 30yrs. ago they all handle like cars ride like them and have all the good stuff built in....I'm more interested in towing cap. engine tranny and all that makes a work truck just that...So if a trim package comes with it cool, if not no worries cause like I said they are already damm comfortable.....But I must say I do like your Rig....Lookin' good bro... I run a 05 Chevy Silverado and love it it’s a ls 1500hd I haul good weight with easy and no problems and I tow and haul heavy stuff she is on real beast i love it and it’s my daily to it’s a real work truck I’m a Chevy man and love my gaser like to get another truck for a plow truck soon and hoping to find a 2500 hd with fisher plow basic straight blade and have it as my plow and big job truck

2016 Chevy Silverado 2500 work truck $3800. I looked at f250 ...I think XLT same price as they chevy. I wasn’t impressed with the interior. So went with they Chevy again. I don’t ever want to spend over $40000 on a truck. Wonder what you will think after plowing with it and salting with it and how fast it rusts. I’m wondering the same thing on my Chevy.

Dump beds are nice but depends on what you do, trees, mulch , moving material yes a dump but if you want to move equipment and then a regular bed is good because they are also about 2 feet lower

I have a 2016 xlt Ford 150 sport it's nice.Im not so happy with the pickup speed.getting out merging on highway a bit slow.Like the size of the bed on it.Bench seat no crew.Just not so into the speed seems kind of sluggish.

I made the mistake when I bought my Honda CRV to get the base model, big mistake. I regret not spending a couple grand more and getting the next model up with the push button start, keyless entry, and nice wheels. Unfortunately, I cant add push button start and a keyless entry (i mean the one where you touch a little button built into the door handle) at this point.

I went with the XLT..I liked the rugged cloth interior and really wasn't much of a difference from the Lariat except price..I personally don't like the tailgate step..But my XLT wasn't much difference between the 2. I dont like the led lights personally on the truck. I slapped a leveling kit on mine and upgraded wheels and tires..Gas engine..I love the new 250..I used to be a dodge guy until I bought this truck last June. Now I'm sold on blue oval.

hey Brian great videos good job on explaining each trim level when I decided to special order my brand new 2018 Ford 450 Platinum edition Super duty I did my homework, built the truck online in each trim level and I went to my local dealership me and the salesman talked about the difference between the trim levels and when I was ready to special order my brand new truck I went with the Platinum edition Super duty even my wife liked my decision as well with everything​ was done the trick was over $80.000 dollars but it's my dream truck and I am very pleased with my truck purchase. again keep up the good work doing your videos your subscriber Patrick the only thing that I will change about my truck is that I have ordered a complete set of Ford 550 super duty rear leaf springs because of the extra capacity that I can haul

XLT with some of the nicer options. Of course I’ve seen some nice STXs too. I have a truck to haul and hunt with. I don’t see the point of paying extra for a lot of the extra options. Just my nickel’s worth.

King ranch ultimate package with the powerstroke heated and cooled seats heated steering wheel panoramic sun roof power deploying running boards and the camera system fx4 is the options I wanted the platinum but they only had the black leather interior I wanted the king ranch brown or the reddish color platinum leather yes I own my own business and spend more time in my truck than o do the office

Nice explanation of the different trim levels. I used to always think to get just the basics and was against leather interiors for a work truck. That is until I got my 2005 Duramax Sierra that was fully loaded at the time. I then saw the value of leather in a work truck. So much easier to clean plus the heated seats are fantastic when it’s cold and wet out. I now always try to get fully loaded or as close to fully loaded as possible for my vehicles.
