if i were to guess, a puppet digimon is any digimon that makes arts and crafts, or any low-level, relatively low-skill, artificial material, without robotics, that appears to be the distinction. I don't really think any of them are natural per se, hey appear to be a do-it yourself kind of digimon. I wonder if there is a conspiracy theorist or anti-government survivalist in there.

I think the puppet digimon come from ancient troyamon, wood used to be used to make toys and wood is used to make paper, a lot of the puppet digimon are toy themed or art themed so i think that could mean they have some relation to ancheint troyamon

Etemon is more famous for being the Elvis Impersonator from Digimon Adventure 1 Story Arc 2. Sure he does come back later on in the Adventure 1 series but at that point he was corrupted by the Black Chords around him. I always saw Etemon as being one of the more entertaining villains with a memorable voice in the 90s English Dub.

Just a personal theory, what if Puppet Digimon are by products of human Data? Chessmons, Toy Agumons, which are human games and toys. Pumpkinmon and Noble Pumpkinmon are Halloween themed. Sistermons which are Nuns essentially. Pinocchimon and Cho-Hakkaimon who are from human stories of Pinocchio and Journey to the West. There's a Digimon called Tobucatmon whose based off of a Jet!

I know this has nothing to do with this video but... I came up with a adult fanmon/fan-made digimon Assasinmon, a forced digivolution of either Monodramon or Gumdramon, who looks like a half-dragon half-robot Digimon his limbs including tail have been replaced with metalic parts that can stretch and form to Assasinmon liking, for example it can turn his tail (which tip has a form like that of volcanicdramon) turn into a spear using his ability to adapt perfectly to his surroundings and enemies, it mostly wears a long white rope leaving only his metalic feet visible, it also has a "uncoverd form" where his rope is removed to reveal his metallic lower body and jaw he also has a set of two huge bat-like wings that are mostly rapped around his body while in his "undercover-form" he also has a sniper named "Ereaser" Since he has no "original" limbs anymore he uses the data of other Digimon by reusing it after absorbing *(DL-upload)* (DL = Digital lifeform) he can also use one ability of the Digimon he absorbed but only for 24 hours another Attack is *(bulls shot)* where he fires his "Ereaser" with perfect accuracy from a long distance The third attack is called *(sting tail)* where he pieces the Digimon's digi core with his tail and then turns his tail into a hook to pull it out He has two digivolution lines depending on his form he is in, if he is in his "undercover-form" he digivolves into Bombermon While in his "uncovered-form" he will digivolve into Fumamon and then into Gaioumon/Samudramon Since he was trained to be the perfect assassin after he was forced to evolve he became almost emotionless and quiet, only speaking when giving a mission and asking about the target

I feel that puppet digimon are created by mixing data. Like a patchwork quilt data from different digimon are used to create them and from that they have a variety of different abilities and forms.

I would guess that Puppet digimon came from the Ancient Spirit of Wood. He is a giant Trojan Horse so being a "built" digimon kind of fits the theme. He could have created puppetmon who went on to create "friends." That being said I think the source of puppet digimon power is the fact that most if not all of them are being piloted by a digimon on the inside. If I recall correctly in Digimon World you were able to evolve Numamon into Monzaemon by Numamon crawling into a giant teddy bear.

For me when I think puppet I think of the thing controlling it. The puppeteer. Maybe the puppet type was made by evil digimon that were desperate for minions so they made a mindless puppet that they can control as the perfect minion. But over time as the puppet gained more and more data. It eventually become smart enough to think for itself an then there we go. That's how I think the puppet type was made. Heck since some of them look like living outfits. You can say that they can be controlled by others easily if someone were to wear them like a suit.

Puppet type digimon is really mysterious. Its origin might be actually a big coincidence... Puppet type digimon might be 3rd party accident, where they discovered that digimon can be changed or created. Since every puppet digimon looks like they have their "true form" under the puppet costume. Maybe it was the same 3rd party that then created machinedramon and Chimeramon and puppet digimons were accident which they turned into experiment.

Well you have to remember the sistermons each have their own awakened form that seems to imply that they're not using their full power. It could be that puppet type Digimon take control over masses of data so they can fight to their fullest potential, in other words their power comes from manipulating that is not their true form.

@@PKSkyler Something worth pointing out I think, in their awakened form, their hoods/veils move to over their eyes, which could imply that they're puppets in the sense that the actual "mind" controlling them is the hoods, similar to how Vamdemon X is actually just the coat it wears.

I think some digimon incorporated the data from media of the real life person promoting Digimon in a monkey suit and digivolved into Etemon. Kinda like Gabumon wearing a Garurumon pelt then digivolving into one.

If you look at the 10 legendary Warriors for a origin then the wood spirit Ancient Troiamon as it looks like a wooden puppet horse as for the modern puppet mons as time went on and new materials were discovered or made new digimom would use them gaining new abilities and/or physical features that Ancient Troiamon didn't have like mobility but lost the gifts that Ancient Troiamon gave to the puppet mons.

If you ask me, Ogremon doesn't make as much sense for a digivolution of Etemon as Targetmon (as seen in this video) or Sukamon. In Sukamon's case, I think there's an argument for it based on Etemon being described in this video as having someone inside it, and just as how Numemon can become Monzaemon in Digimon World 1 by slipping into it's suit, Sukamon could possibly do something similar with Etemon; it's also interesting to note that Etemon is the only ultimate Digimon in that game that can use filth techniques (which mainly consist of attacking the foe with poop), which seems to be in reference to how monkeys are prone to occasionally throwing poop in real life, thus it makes some logical sense to me that a Digimon that's quite literally poop can become it. Also note that one of the cards shown in the video showed MetalEtemon with PlatinumSukamon, so there might be more than just a superficial connection here

for one, we actually know when is inside Monzemon, for it is explained by Digimon World 1. It is canonically a Numemon inside, but more importantly this actually gives a hint to the puppet digimon themselves, because they are a origin of themselves, because many of them are either controlled by an inner controller or are wearing a costume therefore it's their base digimon that determines their origin. This would also explain their unpredictability because they changed themselves to adapt, which was to enhance their survival or status.

Please correct me if i am wrong (as i am only guessing/assuming). most of the puppet mon look like toys, costumes & similar concepts (image at 2:35 points to this). due to a seemingly high amount of plush toy & costume for the puppet type mon, they may be a Frankenstein's monster situation (see the frightfur archetype in yugioh). and that ("franken mon" style) might point to the source of their power & skillset.

It always astounded me the first time I got an idea of what Etemon digivolves from... I got a copy of Digimon Battle Spirit on GBA back in 2005. One of the unlockable characters, Sukamon, divolves into Etemon! Always made me laugh. Though he was one of my favorite fighters from that game. I still have a hard time thinking of this as the canonically "proper" digivolve line. Of course, there have been some really weird digivolve lines that make even less sense.

My theory is puppet type Digimon do not have a direct correlation to any of the ancient warriors, this is because they are directly connected to something outside of the digital world, the human world. This is because so many of them are such anomalies they have no connecting thread yet all are classified under the same type which means that the puppet type is a catchall term for Digimon that don't fall into any of the other categories. Let's take a look at one notable Trio of puppet type Digimon, the sistermons, each of them have two forms their standard form and their awakened form in which the hat that each of them wears lowers over their eyes and they take on a more aggressive fighting style. Now this could be because the actual Digimon is the Hat and the bodies are nothing more than dolls, but I prefer the ideal that the sistermons are a symbiosis (similar to Bulbasaur and the bulb on its back) and the awakened forms are just the sistermons unleashing their true power while taking on a more aggressive mood.

This is quite ironic for me with today's events. The universe is really throwing monkeys my way. The dark network is deceptively powerful as it allows our very annoying Elvis impersonator to infiltrate and access the data of several areas while being nowhere near there. When it was concentrated, corrupted and rendered unstable by Datamon, and then popped by Metalgreymon the resulting explosion booted Tai and Augumon from the digital world. Though King Etamon reminds me of Dragon Ball's Hercule. All talk and showmanship but not much bite at least in comparison to other megas.

Puppet type digimon couldn't be from Ancient Troiamon. You don't see any similarities between Woodmon or Jyuriemon with Etemon or Monzeamon. It's possible that puppet type digimon was created by humans and their influence on the digital world.

I personally don't think Puppet-Digimon need to descend from one of the Ancient Warriors/have inherited a specific Warriors power. Considering they're "puppets", meaning there's either another Digimon inside there, using their body as a shell, or their entire body is controlled by someone else, them not having a set ancestor makes sense. I'm... also not sure if I'm on top of Etemons "Champion"-stage being Targetmon, like, sure, it makes sense for Targetmon to evolve to Etemon, on the other hand, Etemon definitely seems like the template Targetmon is based on, not the other way around, so it feels like they're related, but not like Etemon comes from Targetmon. I think the most popular line/the line that made the most sense before Targetmon came out was Etemon digivolving from Sukamon, in a manner similar to how Monzaemon is generally considered to be evolving from Numemon, which would then make Etemons Rookie Chuumon, under most circumstances. I'd say Nanimon is also another likely option.

It also seems Cho Hakkaimon is referencing the character of Zhu Bajae from Journey to the West, the English adaptation refers to him by the uninspired name of Pigsy, and part of his backstory is that he got drunk and sexually harassed the Chinese goddess of the Moon, Chanje, and then took on the form of a pig demon; what makes me think Cho Hakkaimon references that character isn't just the pig suit, but it does help, but also its weapon resembles Zhu Bajae's muck rake. And Etamon, with its Monkey-like appearance claiming to be the "king of Digimon," isn't too dissimilar to Sun Wukong from Journey, who in the English localizations is just called Monkey, who called himself the Monkey King and was actually born from a rock that was split by a bolt of lightning, so Etamon could actually reference Sun Wukong to some degree, but I am just saying that right now because I am not aware of any monkey or monkey-like Digimon that would be a better fit in that role. And Digimon, being a Japanese franchise, referencing literature like A Journey to the West, isn't uncommon; almost every Asian country has pulled on that one novel for centuries, almost as soon as it became popular in those areas.

There is actually a Digimon literally called Gokuumon, referencing Sun Wukong. The entire group is actually represented, along with Ginkakumon and Kinkakumon for the Silver and Gold Horn demons, and Sanzomons evolution being Shakamon, based on the Buddha.

@@dracone4370 Just saying, because you said you "weren't aware if there was another monkey-Digimon that better fit that role", which there is, there literally is one specifically based on Sun Wukong, being disciple of a monk, having the same equipment, and it's even part of a group with ChoHakkaimon. Certainly a better case to be made than for Etemon simply because "it's a monkey claiming to be the king (of all Digimon)" while lacking any other features commonly associated with Sun Wukong in any of its forms. At that point I'm pretty sure you could refer to any monkey-based Digimon as a reference to Sun Wukong.

Given the name of 'Puppet' digimon, I think the implication would be they aren't natural unlike everything else with their connections to the ancient warriors. No one source for each one, they can be caused by corruptions in data, leaks from the human world's data, or just straight up created by other digimon. No matter what strange happenings is responsible for each specific digimon, I think it's not quite right to try to ascribe an all together natural source for puppets, nor a through line ability, because each one is made almost uniquely

I theorize that puppet digimon come from no ancient Digimon at all but rather from all ten. My theory is that the puppet class Digimon started out like any other Digimon but for one reason or another mutated for lack of better word. And I suspect that they mutated through the use of human made data. Monzemon is a teddy bear a toy, pumpkinmon look like something in the Halloween section. The pig costume looks like just that a costume surrounding a girl or apparently a former angle type Digimon. We know human programs can interfere or even change Digimon completely so I believe that these Digimon were once ordinary Digimon exposed to the data of humans. So in a sense you could view all the puppet digimon almost as costumes for a digicore or digimon living inside the shell of the puppet.

Wait, everyone knows sukamon is the most recognised Champion form for Etemon. I know Sukamon is ugly and hardly anyone likes him, but it still is the Champion that is in a lot of games that can evolve in Etemon. But Digimon can basically evolve in any Digimon, so even Digimon like Greymon can become Etemon.

I think it would be obviouse that if you can't find a Child form for most of these puppet digimon and most puppet type with the exeption of the angle/pig all about dark shadowy things hiding inside stronger and stronger suits until Metaletamon fused his suit permenetly with the thing inside making himself an android. I think it would be safe to say whatever is inside is either a Child level who may be warped in some evolutions or an extreamly weak Adult level who grew stronger by putting on a suit. This would explain their inclination towards taking over things and moving around with unending confedence like people in Furry suits. They feel strong and bold in thier suits with their true forms hidden form sight. They also tend to be ignorent and childish in behavior regardless of power level or Evil behavior. Another reason to think it's a Child level or childish Adult level in a big monkey suit.
