For the lazy alpha method, it's gonna help A LOT if you perfect the research task for the Pokemon you are hunting, because the odds increase to 1 in 585. It takes around 1 hour to perfect, but it's gonna save you TONS of hours of soft resetting.

@@wolveon-4310 yes, so long as that shinx was prevented from spawning because of a massive mass outbreak. If you just want a non-alpha shiny though, I’d suggest focusing on mass outbreaks and massive mass outbreaks because they have way better odds

Absolutely true. Similar to the dead battery in Emerald. Spend some time to replace it and you'll save tons of hours. Even if the dead battery message only last 5 seconds, if you're shiny hunting and if it takes... 10,000 encounters, that's 50,000 seconds, which is equates to 14.33 hours. Spend some time increasing your odds will save time.

With the massive mass out breaks, I like to save -before- I give munchlax the berries and then I'll take a picture of the screen, exit the game, and then save my aguav berries while using the picture as a guide for where the pokemons are! I definitely use the third method where I have to check every single one too.

What’s weird is literally most of my shinies came from massive mass outbreaks. The most shinies I caught was three in a day! Yesterday I just caught my first regular mass outbreak shiny. Idk maybe I just have luck. I do catch myself doing the Thumbus method for mons I want shiny.

The most shinies I got in one day was 7! I prefer to use Mass rather than Massive Outbreaks, since I like the chill, original feel that I liked to experience in early game! The shinies I got were Happiny, Magikarp, Kirlia, Grotle, Petilil, Alpha-Shiny Yanmega, and Mismagius :). Still on the lookout for Zorua Alpha Shiny, so far no luck (I don't yet have the shiny charm). Edit: It's the next day, I got a Sliggoo, ANOTHER Happiny and ANOTHER Yanmega :) Edit: YOO I FINALLY GOT PRINPLUP! I love this shiny! Got nothing else today tho :/ Edit: New day, new shinies! Woke up nice and early and immediately got Abomasnow and Munchlax in back-to-back outbreaks!

I don't even have the shiny charm but I still get one or two shinies every few massive mass outbreaks. One time I tried hunting a specific pokemon (Glameow and for a short while Ralts/Kirlia) and it took aaages. I got Gardevoir after a couple days but Glameow took way longer. It was super satisfying to finally get something out of a dedicated shiny hunt.

This was pretty helpful. I've gotten a shiny cherrim, happiny and floatzel from the regular outbreaks so far. I haven't managed to beat Volo yet because my Pokemon get too weak by the time Giritina transforms so I'll have to wait a while before I can do massive mass outbreaks, sadly.

The berries being worth it is dependent on which method you do. If you're going for a specific shiny, obviously the berries are helpful. If you're just flying around and checking them all, the berries aren't helpful. I find that if you're flying around just to check them, it's easier without the berries because as you fly through and check them, they show on your map which ones you have been to.

Oh! The lazy alpha method can be used to grab pokemon that are in the area too which is how I finally got a shiny eevee. A mass outbreak in the horseshoe plains and just resetting where the eevee would spawn until one finally showed up

Would the space time distortions count as a method? Im hunting fossils (just need 1 more alpha shieldon) and caught a shiny Shieldon in the prossess. Good to do while ur doing something else but u do need to keep a timer ready and check before the spawn checks kick in just in case weather is bad. Great video

You can also just save in town if you got multiple (massive) mass outbreaks to check. The only downside to this is that if you see a random shiny you have to choose to catch it or let it go. Cause only the outbreaks are static before you enter the map.

for massive mass outbreaks i personally like to go in blind and fly over every hoard and then see if any of them are shiny. if not, i go to hoards where my dex entry isnt perfect and then fill out those quests. sometimes they can be shiny when new ones spawn, which is always welcome

8:49 You can get through an entire massive mass outbreak like without resetting at all, if you battle them instead of catching in the overworld. The outbreak timer only ticks while you're outside of things like battles or menu screens. Makes it even slower, sure, but it's good for people like me who want to search every 'mon in one go lol

@@JodiGeo Yes, I'm aware. But altering the outcome is only really important if you're doing RNG manipulation like with the last method in the video. For the part of the video I commented on? Even if you inadvertently change the second wave spawns, the odds are still the same as if you went through just catching them and resetting. The odds that you changed them FROM having a shiny, are the same as the odds that you changed something TO having a shiny. You have the same exposure and amount of rolls as what was done in that part of the video, but you also get the satisfaction of clearing the entire outbreak map in one go, without resetting.

There is 1 more shiny hunting method- called ghost permutation, which mostly apply for pkm that you cannot drag them into multi battle, I even sometime have to combine Austin method and ghost permutation to get the alpha shiny because I am working on Alpha shiny living dex, and as far as I remember the longest permutation I have to perform to get an alpha shiny is 96, which came from a MMO of 10 tentacool (94 from standard and 2 plus by combine Austin method+ ghost permutation), and the longest reset I ever did for not find a shiny is nearly 100, which belongs to shiny alpha basculin hunting and alpha shiny buizel

All but one of my shiny pokemon have been found from me just casually exploring. One of them spawned in the first wave of a massive mass outbreak. What's really weird to me is most of the time I run into several shinies in one day. I won't see one for two weeks and then run into 3 in 30 minutes. I don't even have the shiny charm yet (I got this game the day of release, clearly I'm being VERY casual about it).

I did a shiny hunt yesterday by just rerolling massive mass outbreaks + doing normal mass outbreaks for any Pokemon I wanted, and caught a shiny Ninetales and Zoroark in only a few hours. The Zoroark was the main one I was hunting, it’s such a beautiful shiny.

"The Thumbus method" actually gave me a shiny, i went to a Grotle outbreak that did not have a star, got a second horde and a shiny Torterra appeared. It gets even better: i got 3 different massive mass outbreaks at the same time and i had already checked another whole outbreak with zero shinies on it before going to the one where i found the shiny. I think if you are just trying to get a shiny of whatever, this is the best method, as a massive mass outbreak will have more than 100 pokemon to check if they are shiny or not. Austin's alpha manipulation method may be the best if you want a specific shiny.

What I did for shiny hunting is I search for massive mass outbreaks that have the specific pokemon I want, for example I did a hunt for Zorua so I would look for places that can have a mass outbreak of Zorua such as the Obsidian Fieldlands and the Alabaster Icelands. Once I find an outbreak at a specific location, I go to that location and I give 5 berries to munchlax to check if there is an outbreak for that specific pokemon. If there is no outbreak for that pokemon, then I soft reset and go back to jubilife village in search for another mass outbreak and I just rinse and repeat until I get a shiny 😊 I like to call it the Target Outbreak Method

How are usually look for shiny myself is I save at jubilive Village then talk to the person at the gates. I check them out to see if there's any question marks if there are I usually explore each one depending on which Pokemon have spawned I've used this to complete the Pokedex and to get a perfect Pokedex. If the massive Mass outbreak does not have the Pokemon that I want or need for the Pokedex I reset and then check the next location and if I'm lucky find shiny. Usually it's the luck of the draw. I have yet enter the 5th area but have gotten 2 full odds shiny and the quest garrentied shiny. All 3 of them were in their pre-evolved forms so I was able to register a shiny for their whole evolution lines.

I'm shiny hunting for the alpha heracross and rapidash. Not sure of it's right what I'm doing but I just spawn at camp. Ride to their spawns (I sometimes find shinys on the way), check if there shiny, then fast travel back to camp from the map, then back to village via professor. Rinse and repeat. Does this work?

I’ve noticed if I fly to an outbreak and there’s no shiny after catching them all and the icon disappeared, I can fly around that map and find a shiny probably 70% of the time

For method #1, can you save at camp and reset the game if the outbreak doesn’t have a shiny to try until one comes out? Or are the Pokémon set before you even start the encounter?

Do regular Mass outbreaks still have the 1/154 shiny odds after the Daybreak Update? I know you can't reset spawns anymore because of the patching it did.

was lucky enough to catch a shiny ALPHA Cyndaquil in my first Mirelands Massive Mass Outbreak. Shiny Cyndaquil is easily one of my favourite pokemon of all time
