I used that knowledge to hopefully give an explanation of my favorite EDM genre. Gothic Hardcore was strongly inspired by Classical music, especially baroque. I can't even imagine that how Classical music and Gothic Hardcore mixed well together without any conflict between these genres〜

I like how you say cs4w's name as written. i always kind of said it as seesaw in my head 😂 Nice summarization btw! I personally would have included the influence of Umineko and zts' music for that game on the genre, too. It's very prevalent with more notable gothic hardcore artists and some of their early work (gmtn. - Happy Maria remix, Furiosa Melodia; Team Grimoire - 悔恨コロッセオ, Grimoire of Blue album, Prison Strip remix, Abstract Garden). It also coincided with the Touhou Doujin remixes community, which I'm sure also influenced Gothic Hardcore to a point (Kurokotei, to an extent, as she is not strictly gothic hardcore. Shoutout to her song arcanegatewander, a clear homage to zts' music). Though, I guess this video is more of what is Gothic Hardcore musically and where it fits in the genre bubble. As for Gothic Hardcore music theory, none of it is set in stone, but a lot of it is based around classical music tropes such as the Harmonic Minor scale/Perfect Cadence (V - i movement), Circle of Fifths progression in minor, the Lament Bass/Andalusian Cadence (descending chromatic bassline), trills, and classical arpeggios. Gothic Hardcore really borrows a lot from Baroque, tbh. Maybe throw in some Phrygian for the bII/Neapolitan chord (Tempestissimo, iirc), or even the drawn out isus4 - isus2 - i or I (Picardy Third) for the Team Grimoire flair. A lot of this is all pictured in CS4W's progression anyway; It's a modified circle of fifths prog (Aug chords are not really circle of fifths-y), that starts on the i and ends in the V, which loops back around for the V - i perfect cadence, and the obvious bassline movement. You're pretty much spot on in the leads section, too. I don't think I need to point out all the trills and arpeggios in some of the examples lol In fact, a lot of this theory isn't dissimilar to Neoclassical/Symphonic Metal. There are a lot of clear parallels between the two both theory-wise and intensity-wise (Metal and Hardcore, need I say more?) and I love it. Any budding gothic hardcore artists seeing this definitely have to look at neoclassical theory videos for additional learning. Just add hardcore kicks and leads lmao With that said, much love to the Gothic Hardcore genre 💜and to you for making this video! I may have rambled a lot HAHA

You gave a lot of much needed information about Gothic hardcore. Thank you very much! I like that you went back to the beginning with the start of Gothic/Classical Hardcore. If a video about the history of Gothic hardcore were to be made, then you definitely got it! Most of this videos mainly looked into the structure of the genre rather than all of the history, which is something I probably should've gone into now that you present all that info. Still, thank you for commenting and sharing all of that! I really appreciate you taking the time to share all of that after watching the video!

Also, one more thing, I think your pronunciation of CS4W is the correct way. I had never seen anyone else say their name before, so I just went the easy way out by saying out each letter lol

​@@jerrys07 Your welcome! I'd like to say though that the "history" is more so a personal observation rather than hard fact, so *please* take my words lightly haha. I took the Umineko parallel from RinnyThe16th's video on gmtn.'s history, and I'm also a big TG fan and heard the patterns lol. I've never played the game, but I have listened to the OST, and the legacy from that OST really is that influential. Rinny's video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/paaolqp9jaxjgc0 And don't forget that Gothic Hardcore also has roots in the BMS/BOF scene, same as Artcore... and Hard Renaissance - Three not-so-dissimilar genres with varying levels of overlap which no doubt took a lot of influence from each other over the years. I suspect there's a bit more Gothic Hardcore history to be had there. That history dive would be quite a big undertaking LOL. Just saying, but the only person I'm aware of who has done a deep dive on the history and distinction of a BMS/Rhythm game genre is FulminisIctus for Artcore, and even then, he had help from the Artcore discord server: kzbin.infozijrQ5ob0SQ Anyway, I've rambled again but thank you for the time reading this LOL
