So basically what I'm understanding is Ranni wants to overthrow all order in the lands between and replace it with her own, which is made of the moon and stars. She wants to separate the souls of beings from order so that no one is directly controlled by some greater power, such as the Golden Order being the alleged rulers of the Lands Between, or the fingers being influenced by the Greater Will. She says she wants to bring her order far away from the lands between so no one and nothing can interfere with her order, further added on to her not wanting order to be directly affecting anything. She takes the darkness of night with her so the lands will not have to experience darkness anymore. She brings her order with her and leaves the lands between with the Tarnished and together they venture off into the stars, down a path of loneliness and darkness, to a place where their purpose may be fulfilled.

This is the issue right, i don’t think there necessarily “mistranslations”, souls dialog has always had a sorta “shakespearean” feel to it, dropping certain syllables, dropping adjectives or certain words entirely. So I think it’s more of them taking the actual translation of the words and just “soulsing” up the wording. Confusing yes, but for some long time souls players, myself included, i understood the meaning
@NLS3368 ай бұрын
I think even in the English translation the ending is still substantively similar. The point of returning the LB to its original state is returning the cycle of life to include those darknesses - fear, death, doubt, loneliness. It is those things that truly bring about order when juxtaposed against the golden parts of life. Without them, struggle is essentially meaningless - except to the extent it feeds the Erd Tree. With them, man may suffer, but through the suffering gain the wisdom of enlightenment when the journey has been completed. Essentially, Ranni is taking us into the Valley of the Shadow of our Purpose in the hopes that the return of full life brings more meaning than simply struggling to keep the LB as they are. I think it tracks because suffering is the meaning of the game - what you learn from, overcome. The ending that creates more suffering (but of a purposeful type, rather than just chaos for example) is the most poetic and the most chosen. I think the English is a correct translation, but we have as a society sort of lost our respect for suffering and our ability to see its role in life and how it brings us meaning. We take her English words as villainous, but suffering is inherent to life and because we don't like to suffer we say it's a bad ending. But, it's the ending that was required to right the cycle of life in the game - the point. The ending in either version is designed to teach us about that principle. We just react negatively to it because we as a culture reject the wisdom suffering has to teach us in favor of obliteration of the present through consumerism and avoidance.

I agree with most of the translation and interpretation except for the Dark Path. In the Japanese proper translation, I believe Ranni was talking about her journey with us. However this interpretation could also be true. As the world was plunged into a world with no gods, the "Darkness" that she describes might be due without the Golden Light. Another thing I disagree with is Miquella. Miquella is not a woman. Miquella is a Man. Malenia said it himself, "Dearest brother-" and not "Sister". Which means Miquella is actually a Male. I also disagree with the curses being related to them in the way you described it. I propose you look at this whole family tree with George Martin's view. Every writing in George Martin's view has... "Family Drama" that involves a little... too much, sometimes. Marika's and Godfrey's firstborn is Godwyn. Godwyn was born without curse. This reason was not told to us but I'll get back to you on this, as then they would proceed to have Mohg and Morgott. Both of them were cursed. Why would they be cursed? Godwyn was born without one, why would the other 2 brothers cursed. It wouldn't make sense for Marika's and Godfrey's first child to be without curse, unless you consider that Mohg and Morgott is *NOT* Godfrey's children. They are Godwyn's and Marika's... Another hint of this was "Mohgwyn Palace" under the Lands Between. Why was it called that? As if the children of "Mohgs" are under "Wyn" in Godwyn. I believe Godwyn had an affair with Marika. Marika is known by many as gods but was also feared and wanted to be gone by many. Now, humour me and let's dive into Radagon's children. Renalla, his wife, was able to make a child and that was Ranni. I also believe that Ranni was born using the Amber Egg. Some time after that, Radagon left to reunite with Marika. Marika and Radagon both have children, and they are both cursed. I mean the name themselves hints at this. Godfrey's child has "God" hence Godwyn. However, they didn't go with "Godmohg" or "Godmorgott" and that should hint in the affairs. This is George Martin's writing anything regarding "Family Relations" as they are never normal. This is Malenia and Miquella, the Empyreans the same as Ranni. However, Ranni was not cursed but the other 2 are. Why is that? It is because they either share the same blood or godhood by Marika/Radagon. If this is correct, it would explain a lot of the curse. As the curses was not present in Godwyn and Ranni but rather the union between Marika and her child, then Radagon with himself/herself by Marika. They would have stain the lineage. I believe this is why Miquella was no longer faithful to the Golden Order, as he discovered the truth. Miquella is very knowledgeable with all of the things in the Lands Between.
@johnsonjunior5472 жыл бұрын
no other hints than the name though is a bit of a leap. If there was an item hinting at all I might buy it. I'd just need a bit more than 2 children were omens and one wasn't. Easily could've named them Mogh/Morgott without the God because they were omens and therefore shouldn't carry the Godfrey name. They were hidden from the public eye, why would they name them after the elden lord. BUT, I think its worthy to mention that the game never mentions who the parents of morgott and mogh are, only mentioning they are of the golden lineage. So, you may be onto something (unless maybe I missed something). Also, Ranni may have been rebirthed or birthed from the egg but she is Radagon's daughter. So, idk how her being born of the egg is even important. We also never see a success with the rebirth. Boc dies. And the girls in the boss fight are deformed as well, even while she has the rune of the unborn. So, I don't quite understand how that works. But I think it should be mentioned that being an empyrean really means that you are chosen by the two fingers. Whether that is because you are born of a single god, or chosen willfully. So, I think Ranni was simply chosen because she was a strong figure/demigod. After all, Marika and the Gloam-eyed queen were both empyreans but its unlikely they both stem from some outside God-like being also. Seems the two fingers can choose aswell. Also, its fair to note that we shouldn't call Malenia and Miquella "cursed". We don't know the actual cause. The Malenia remembrance only says "afflictions". I think Miquella wasn't faithful because the golden order incantations couldn't help his sister with her scarlet god problem. So, he instead, researched unalloyed gold to create her a cure. Says this on the incantation "Radagon's Rings of Light"
@Asriel_Cypher2 жыл бұрын
@@johnsonjunior547 On the first part, I do believe the information was hidden. I have scoured every single available obtainable item in the game and they really hidden the name of Mohg and Morgott as anything related to Marika and Godfrey at all. I only wanted to point this out, because this is classic George Martin incest writing. I can't argue as well since as you said, a lot of the in-game item doesn't mention that they are Marika's and Godfrey's children. They only say that they are from the Golden Lineage. As for Ranni, Ranni wasn't born with a curse. She was also the odd one. She had a Great Rune but when we met her, we didn't even fight her nor we get a Great Rune from her. We get a Great Rune from defeating Renala. However, during the fight, we know for sure that Ranni interfered and prevented us from killing her mother. We obtained the Great Rune afterwards, thus there is no need for us to kill Renala. So the Great Rune wasn't with Renala, but with Ranni. She also mentioned by Gideon that Ranni casted her Great Rune aside. So she, at one point, possessed a Great Rune, and somehow the Great Rune was also is within the Amber Egg. That is why many concluded that Ranni must have been born from the Amber Egg. Meaning she would have bore a curse, yet she didn't. Unless you consider the fact that I brought up earlier, that anything that has Marika/Radagon's blood mixed together, created that curse. It's only when Radagon/Marika being involved, the curse is afflicted upon them. It is as if any God that tries to create a union with a close blood relation, ends in chaos. What makes an Empyrean is very vague, and I agree. It can be that you are chosen. However, one fact that we can't deny is that they are still born under the grace of a God. The union of a God is what makes them viable to be chosen as an Empyrean. My evidence was as the game had shown and told us, Ranni, Malenia and Miquella. All three fits this undeniable description. I believe this is a requirement. So I do disagree slightly there. The Gloam-Eyed Queen is a mystery to us. However, we do know that Marika is from another land. From VaatiVidya, he also speculated that Marika is from a land of Goddesses. I surmise that they are from the same land. However, I have no evidence of this just the same as him. As for the curses, I disagree. The actual cause is unknown but they were born with it. So the conditions aren't told to us but I do believe at the hint was given from the names and knowing George Martin's writing, something must have been there. Malenia and Miquella also call their curse as they are. Curses. Malenia, cursed with Scarlet Rot. Miquella, cursed with eternal youth. A lot of the item description and dialogue already pointed this out, so I disagree. The most thrown dialogue in the game was "cursed with afflictions from birth-" and I believe this was from Gideon. I could be wrong. I haven't lore diving as much lately. Miquella was faithful at first in the Golden Order because he believed at first, that the answer is there to cure them of the curse. However, there is nothing, at any point, suggests that Miquella found a way. Nothing. Yet Miquella suddenly decides that he would become part of the Haligtree and I believe he had a plan. I also wanted to point out, even if there is no cure from the Golden Order, why turn his back on his father, whom he loved so much? Why so distraught. What did Miquella discover that made him turn against the Golden Order, and decide to abandon that path? Nothing suggests us this. A lot of the evidence was probably hidden by Marika. As shame. To hide themselves of what they had done. Gideon says and speculated that Miquella is still alive. I believe this to be true but I believe Miquella, wanted to be reborn. I have no theory of this but I find it strange that we are awaken by the Grace with no memory. Other characters do, but we don't. I have absolutely no evidence for this, but I think Miquella had a plan, to reborn as one of the Tarnished. What implications and result would that be, is the question. For starters, Miquella would no longer be cursed with eternal youth. Second, he would need to be reborn of a warrior. At least capable of killing gods. I believe Miquella is, us. I've scoured a lot of the lore of previous SoulsBorne game as well and I find it strange that the NPCs in Elden Ring, likes us as the player. Even Rodgier notices and points this out to us. That people wants to trust us. As if we have this allure of a god. Something that makes people likes us. Just like Miquella. Who has this ability to make people like him. As I said before, I have no evidence for this and only gut feeling but I believe there is more to it but it's hard to explain through just texts. So none of this is convincing and I know but do keep an open mind with it. I could be entirely wrong but there is something about our character, that a lot of people just willingly trusts or like us, despite whatever circumstances they have in that mad world. The merchants, even with their code, Kalé, trusts us. Varré, a Blood Finger who serves Mohg, should have no interests nor benefit, helps us. Hell, Varré should be killing us to prevent more of Tarnished help to restore the balance or serve the fingers. Yet he did. Iiji, also noticed something odd about us. Blaidd, also wanted to help us, despite Iiji pointing out that Blaidd wouldn't do such a thing unless he sensed something. Judging from the previous SoulsBorne title, I think there is something to look into that.

Ranni had intended to take the "dark path" alone for the longest time since she hatched her plans, which was why she always appeared aloof and distant to everyone, and had locked the symbol of consort behind her mother's prison, so that no one may reach it to achieve any form of political marriage arrangements and force her to become a figurehead. She was sure that she was departing alone that she bade us convey her love for her comrades Iji and Blaidd for her, but we decided we wanted to tag along and upset her solo plans.

I don’t think Mohg and Morgott are Godwyns children simply because of the way Godfrey treated Morgotts dead body when he finds him. Godfrey cradles him and if you know about what Serosh’s role is in Godfreys lore, he stifles all of Godfreys emotions but when he sees Morgotts body Serosh roars, if I had to guess Serosh channels Godfreys emotions so that roar is really how Godfreys feeling proving he feels anguish at his sons death. You could say Godfrey just doesn’t know That Mohg and Morgott aren’t his but even then if we go by the naming precedent that’s been set, only Mohg actually adopts the Wyn suffix with his real name being Mohgwyn, Morgott doesn’t adopt the Wyn suffix and Mohg and Morgott are canonically twin brothers so very likely share the same father. So yeh I think saying that Mohg and Morgott are omens due to their incestous lineage is a bit of a stretch especially since Omens are actually a vestige of the crucible and were considered a blessing before the time of the Erdtree so they’re only considered cursed due to the time they were born in.

Very interesting video but one note about the genetics theory. If a trait is located on the X-chromosome and it’s a recessive trait, it will be more likely to show in males if they’re x-chromosome has it, as they do not have another x-chromosome with whatever the dominant gene is to mask it. If it’s a dominant trait, you could say that females are more likely to show it as either of the 2 x-chromosomes could give it to them while the chance of the trait showing for males remains the same

Ranni's questline allows people to die again. Frenzy flame kills everyone and returns them to the one "whole" soul they once were before the 2 fingers split them all apart selfishly the other endings are not important/suck. :P
@dracorex4262 жыл бұрын
Frenzied Flame is the worst ending because the Frenzied Flame is incorrect. Everything was not literally one before the Erdtree. There were still different things. It's just that categories were far less of a thing. So the Frenzied Flame's "solution" doesn't actually undo the Greater Will's "mistake". It's just another mistake.

Once it got locked up there was no way back in but we have to go down there and get an item only found there to kill the fingers. Coincidence? That she knows the weapon is down there and that the place really exists. Also the mobs seems to be praying to the sky which is a starry night, a dark night. Just food for thought. Here's my theory for a Soulsborne + Elden Ring timeline: Start with Dark Souls I-III. After the Age of Dark (specifically the Age of the Deep) begins, everyone left who doesn't want to hang around escapes to the Painted World of Ash. Bloodborne happens in the Painted World of Ash during the Age of the Deep. Later, one Great One, the Old One, travels through Dreams to return to the outside world, ending the Age of the Deep and recreating life. The Old One is also worshipped as God, but decides to try to eat all the Souls. Thus, Demon's Souls. Sometime after Demon's Souls, the other Great Ones start to filter out into the real world, becoming known as the Outer Gods. A bunch more Ages occur until we finally arrive at Elden Ring. The Formless Mother is Formless Oedon.

It's like people play with their sound off or skip dialogue sometimes. I absolutely understand that reading something does not translate perfectly to saying it out loud, but when something is said multiple times and STILL people get it wrong, it's just... How? Especially when it comes to Miquella. Unless you completely skipped the Melania fight, or played with dialogue volume at 0, or somehow managed to beat the fight without having to retry multiple times, you're gonna hear that name a hell of a lot. A recessive trait bound to the X chromosome is more likely to express in males, not the other way around. Since a woman would need the same recessive gene on both her x chromosomes, as opposed to a man who could in fact inherit the trait from only a single parent. If it was instead a dominant trait, it would be as you say, more likely in a woman. X-linked recessive inheritance is the thing to Google if you want to learn more :) Re the video, it is magic. I don't really think this was mistranslated; this was how I originally understood her dialogue. I guess other people interpreted it a different way though.
@reasonablechristianity Жыл бұрын
I think you have it wrong and many others as well, while she does seem to be fighting against the Greater Will it's more accurate to say she is fighting against the Golden Order. The Greater Will is all about Order, it doesn't care what type of Order and accepts that for different ages there must be different orders, so her starting a new type of order while it being far away from the lands between, it still is order and it still serves the Greater Will. The Greater Will is the creator God of Everything in Elden Ring who created order from the Chaos which was the One Great. And her Order might be the one the Greater Will desires or has decided is best for the current age.
@messaros715 Жыл бұрын
The Greater Will is another outer god like the rest of them, he has just convinced humanity that he's the greater one among them and tried to convince people that he's the evolution of another one when in reality he only impersonates it. But in the end is a entity that seems obsessed with order and will crush anything that doesnt want to follow it's order. Ranni doesn't serve the Greater Will, she serve the Moon. He betrays the Greater Will in her quest that's why Blaidd loses his mind, Blaidd being a guard to the empyrean is also forced throught mental control to kill their empyrean in case they betray the order and that's what happens to him, that's why he is imprisoned by Iji after killing Radahn, because he's starting to lose control of himself. This is completely my theory----> The Greater Will doesn't accept any type of Order or he doesn't accept you at all that's why you have defeat Elden Beast to take the Elden Ring, you fight this creature as his last attemp to stop you from becoming Elden Lord and give the power to another outer god or just reject you as candidate of his order at all even if you choose the Golden Order Endings (I think it is because he consider that you'll be to strong to defeat once you have the Elden Ring). Another "proof" of my theory is the cutscene of Godfrey, when he's holding Morgott's corpse you can see the grace of gold leaving his body and the particles are flying directly at you, i think that means Godfrey is being guided by the grace to stop you and that's why he suddenly comes back to try and become once again Elden Lord, i mean he didn't claim it in all this time but in the same moment you, the player, is getting close to become the Elden Lord he just comes back out of nowhere.
@reasonablechristianity Жыл бұрын
This has been thoroughly investigated and even the japanese version properly translated, it also doesn't mention anywhere that the Greater Will is an outer God, while it refers as such to the others. The player is also guided by Grace so I don't see how Godfrey being led by it means something, all tarnished who have been called by the grace are guided by it or were in order to re-forge the broken Elden Ring. In the past the Golden Order assimilated with the order of the Moon and the Greater will accepted it, even Ranni doesn't say anything about the Greater Will, but her problem is with the two fingers. The Greater Will is the Creator God of the world of Elden Ring and this is pretty much confirmed by Hyetta if you go down the Lord of Chaos path, in which she reveals that the Greater Will shattered the One Great and through that everything was made. @@messaros715
@messaros715 Жыл бұрын
@@reasonablechristianity Interesting, i'll check. What I mean with the guide of grace is that the particles coming out of Morgott's body isn't flying to the Erdtree, they are flying at your direction, that's what I mean when I say Godfrey is being guided to you.
