I agree...it was an odd choice by Sony, but we've seen tons of situations like this over time. I do have to wonder, however, if Sony did it on purpose to gain attention for the movie. If so, it certainly paid off, 'cause it definitely has created alot of freak outs!

Rhys Ifans must be playing a random character, but I've seen people theorizing that that's indeed a version of Connors that went to war, returned with both arms intact, and decided to become a hippie instead or a scientist. I personally find it forced, but no less forced than "I don't know how I ended up in this universe. It has to do with Spider-Man I think".

The alien creatures coming from space are called xenophages and they are symbiote predators. Also riot definitely won’t be in the movie considering riot was in venom 2018.

Right...my guess is that we only see 4 symbiotes due to Riot having been in the first movie, although ig they could try to bring him back. But I doubt it. And thanks for the reminder of the name for those symbiote predators. They look like they will be quite a match for Venom and company. Just that one we see in the trailer looks like it's enough to cause alot of problems.

For everyone freaking out about the scene where Chiwetel Ejiofor's character captures the symbiote from the bar in Mexico, we need to remember that Sony has pulled this stuff before. Remember in the Morbius teaser, there was a mural of Tobie Maguire Spider-Man with the word "murderer" written across it? Remember how the actual film contained no references to Spider-Man whatsoever, except for that stupid Post Credit Scene? That's what'll happen in this movie, I'm almost certain. Also, if whoever directs Spider-Man 4 wants to bring back Vulture, I think they should just ignore Morbius. Have SM4 say Vulture has just remained in prison, and that way the Morbius Vulture can just be a variant. It makes sense too, since in Morbius, Vulture has built his own Vulture suit, whereas MCU Vulture relied on the Tinkerer to build his gadgets.

Great point...Sony is famous for putting misleading and or false info in the trailers. So who knows what will actually be in the movie. Sony gonna Sony yet again. As for Vulture, I like your idea...or I'm also down with the idea that Miguel returned Vulture due to it being caused by the collider event and not the Dr. Strange spell. So it means Sony cleaned their own mess up for once. lol!

As someone who’s not really a fan of the venom movies, this movie looks like it will be fun. Also with that bar symbiote being captured, I think knowing Sony, there gonna take that piece back, they already took vulture, so they’ll probably take back that venom piece back as well.

Funny you mention about James Bond, perhaps that sequence of the film will be a bond like thriller and Eddie is essentially on a secret agent mission which will then give us agent venom (I know it’s not Eddie brock who is agent venom but instead flash Thompson but like modok isn’t Darren cross so) When I first watched the trailer I thought marvel and sony have been playing venom tennis. It take like “ha now he’s in the MCU” “Ha now he’s back in the sony universe but we kept some” and finally “ha now that bit you kept is in our universe too” And also I think your sequence of events for this film is bang on, it just makes so much sense!

Unless this soldier can now rip through time and space into another reality, you know, a common ability, Sony’s messing with realities again. At this rate they’ll cause an incursion and wipe themselves out. Either that or they’re using that scene specifically to reference the MCU in the trailers AGAIN.

@@AbitofEverything4U It’s definitely possible that he dropped back into his universe and that happened, being the first case of them finding the symbiote, and that’s why he’s on the run. I think what throws me off is why the variant bartender looks almost the exact same. I’m glad you pointed out that the bar itself actually looks different in the background. There’s such a focus on the “No Way Home-esque” elements in that scene that it seems that’s what they wanted us to see so that it seemed like the MCU. I really hope this scene is actually in the movie and is explained better. I also hope that 10 year old is just a random 10 year old.

One of the theories I've already been hearing is that that last close-up shot in the No Way Home mid-credits scene where they showed a piece of the Venom symbiote being left in the MCU could have ended up being retconned to where that close-up isn't set in the MCU anymore but back in Eddie's universe, cause maybe Sony and Marvel Studios had a plan in mind when they did that No Way Home scene but their plans may have changed since then or something.

I mean, they could still retcon it none-the-less, but they would basically be changing the scene, versus just reframing which universe it was in. So I'm hoping the goo was left in both universes, but if they do decide to retcon it, then it won't be that big of a surprise, tbh, since..."Sony gonna Sony"!

@@AbitofEverything4U So far it has seemed like it's been leading right into the idea of having the MCU's Peter acquire the black symbiote suit by the time they would get to Secret Wars, which of course is where he got it from originally in comics. Both the 90s cartoon and Raimi's Spider-Man 3 went the route of having the symbiote come down to Earth outside of ever having to have Peter acquire it through or be wearing it during the events of Secret Wars, so I'll admit it would be cool to see a live-action depiction of black suited Spider-Man in Secret Wars just like in the original comic book storyline. Though the idea of the symbiote being forcibly brought down to Earth in a space shuttle by astronauts (which Venom's first movie also did) has always worked for me just as well. In Raimi's case he just had it attached to a small meteorite that just so conveniently happened to land in the park at the exact moment that Peter and MJ just so conveniently happened to be there. No wonder the inclusion of the symbiote/Venom feels so underwhelming to me in SM3.

Yeah, I agree...the SM3 origin of Venom was pretty poor. I would love it if Peter gets in during Secret Wars, if that's possible. It's a very busy storyline, I suspect, but having it happen then would be very cool!

There is something that worries me about the timeline and knowing Sony, if they do this I'm sure they didn't think it through. If Mrs. Chen mentions her encounter with the spot it would be problematic for the timeline, Venom The Last Dance occurs immediately after No Way Home, the prologue of Across The Spiderverse occurs some time after No Way Home and the events of the movie take place months later according to Gwen, so if Mrs. Chen refers to these events or if she dies it could contradict all of this

You forgot to fix one movie & add it to the timeline Sony's Spider-Man Universe 2003: Madame Web 2018: Venom 2019: Morbius 2020: Venom Let There Be Carnage, Venom The Last Dance The reason we know that during the events of Madame Web takes place on Earth-688, is because Mary Parker gave birth to Peter Parker & during the post-credit scene of Spider-Man No Way Home, Eddie Brock says, "Five years? That's a long time. I mean, maybe I should go to New York and speak to this... Spider-Man." Also I think you got the scenes of the Trailer in the right order.

Good point! That said, one theory i've heard is that the reason Venom knew about Spider-Man was due to the hive mind. So even if he didn't have a Peter Parker in his own universe, he knew about Peter's existence from the other Venom's across the multiverse. So when he went to 616, Venom recognized Tom Holland on the TV screen and that made Eddie want to go visit Peter.

I’m actually sick of Sony teetering on the decision of joining the mcu or not, and they’re leaning much more towards not and it never works out for them. It looks to me they’re just trying to retcon a really big leap forward for both companies. But per usual (vulture in then promptly leaving morbius), they got cold feet and wanna keep their stuff in a separate universe. I never hope for a franchise to bomb but if this flounders I hope it’ll be a real wake up call for Sony: They. Need. Help.

I have enjoyed the Venom films (first one was better than the second, imo, but even LTBC had some fun moments) and I will admit this trailer makes me hopeful for Venom 3. I've said it before... the piece left behind in the MCU should've been sent back with Eddie and Venom. That's the way the spell worked. Sony just ignored that and put that after credit scene in there. Everyone knows that a piece of Venom is a spawn / child of Venom (and NOT Venom itself) with it's own personality and powers (like Carnage, Toxin, etc.). They just need the symbiote in the MCU to arrive from space and join with Peter before he goes to Battle World (as he does in the comics). Sony just sucks at trying to be Marvel. No forethought... no planning... just "throw stuff at the wall and see what sticks".

Three reveals I'm looking forward to in the venom 3 movie and if they reveal that ,it's gonna be bonkers. 1) Xenophage laying seeds to make Earth 688B into klyntar 2.0 and also xenophage acting as pet to knull who is already on earth! 2) Anne weying carrying a baby Dylan fused with baby venom symbiotes protecting the mother and the baby. Meaning Dylan Brock and Peter Parker are doomsday for knull. 3) Captain Jupiter = Man Wolf = J. John Jameson being the new superhero of the town in daylight and at night the man wolf, and this man wolf has to be hunted by kraven the hunter..

a small part of me thinks that creature is Lasher cause his first host was a German Sheperd and had a bunch of huge tendrils he used to attack people, and ofc because these movies really love making other symbiotes bigger than Venom for whatever reason and notice how horse venom is noticeably bigger than the usual horse. so yeah i think that four legged creature is Lasher. The yellow symbiote is definitely Phage, the yellow and red one is Scream.

The bar scene is definitely set in the SSU and the bartender is just a variant. I can assume that Eddie and Venom also left a spawn after they returned from the MCU. I think Riot won't appear since he already appeared in the first Venom with Carlton Drake as his host. Unless Riot survived or had a spawn. I also wonder if Knull might exist (though I feel like they'd save him as a villain Tom Holland's Spider-Man, perhaps with Eddie and Venom being in the MCU and helping out Peter).

My theory is that this IS Mordo but in the Venom universe. I don’t remember what Mordo’s backstory is or if Mordo is his real name, but perhaps this guy is who Mordo is before he studied magic…perhaps you’re right and his name is that Cornwell guy and lost his son, but Mordo started hunting aliens with the government to cope with his son’s death rather than turn to the mystic arts. Mordo’s variant kept his original identity and turned to science rather than magic. As for the scene in the bar, my bigger theory is that this scene is just straight up not in the movie. It wouldn’t be the first time Sony put out a trailer with fake scenes to fabricate hype. This scene is a red herring designed to get MCU diehards (like myself) to see the movie to see how it relates to Spider-Man, and if I’ve learned anything from watching Sonyverse films I’ve learned that I will walk away from the film without any MCU revelations

Great feedback. So the SM3 movie came out in 2007, but it contains Peter saying the line: "Now you're telling me you've had suspicions for two years? Witnesses?" when he learned that they think Sandman was the one that killed Uncle Ben. So it has to be no more than 2 to 2 1/2 or so years after the first movie, which was in 2002. I would be very disappointed if Sony meant to say that the symbiote drop won't play a role in Tom Holland's Spider-Man 4. It would be so fitting that Peter is now all alone and has had to go through difficult times that the symbiote would stand by him and help him fight criminals as Spider-Man. I would then have a good conclusion that the symbiote secretly goes on a criminal hunt with Peter's unawakened body, like in the comics, instead of being negatively influenced, like in the previous adaptations. Peter would realize that the symbiote is out of control and therefore wants to separate it, which leads to Mac Gargan, who wants revenge on Spider-Man. Together they become Venom and their only goal is to kill Spider-Man/Peter Parker. Would you have liked to see this dynamic?

Sony do have a habit of filming these universe-bending scenes, putting them in trailers, and only THEN seeming to realise that they make no sense. Let's not forget the Raimi Spider-Man graffiti in Morbius and the deleted Vulture scenes, the Raimi era newspapers and re-used footage in Madame Web, the Tom Holland concept art for Madame Web etc... The implication of the bar scene is that it is the same bar, as much as it does not make sense. The roof is the same,, the bartender's actor is the same, the character's outfit is the same. All that has changed is the background and some of the props (though they still maintain the same boat theme). This can just be put down to the film having a new production designer, Samir Buzatu, compared to the previous venom films, and No Way Home. We know this is Tom Hardy's 'last dance' as Venom, it seems more like Sony want to end his story and tie up all the venom loose ends themselves in this film instead of having Marvel tie up one of them in 5 years.

This movie certainly looks interesting. I gotta admit I did subscribe to the theories about the kid, until this came out. There’s NO WAY they’re doing that, and an invasion of earth story and the military hunting down venom story, they just can’t fit it all. Also this kid gets barely any screen time so yea no. As for the chronology, I think you’re mostly right but a lot of it is just so confusing I don’t think we have enough information to go off of yet. Really love the venom horse, and I really hope that we get those other symbiotes. I don’t think were actually shown the final battle because I think the final battle will probably be a 1 v 5 of the symbiotes if they’re really in the movie. But I think that’s being saved for a future trailer. Really interesting to see, I’m curious if this or kraven will be the end of the venomverse or ssu, I don’t know if we have any other confirmed movies in this series, but I think it’s about time it’s over personally. Venom was the main draw and this is certainly the end of that. Maybe they build to a sinister six but man idk

I find it interesting that universes can be in different time periods but it makes sense if you ask me because they have different Time Stones. Just as each universe has a vastly different Reality Stone giving you 616, 838, Animated and yes even Paint. They each have a different Time Stone that affects their time differently. That's how you can also have a 1930s Noir universe as well. The actor and the goo ... well that's a whole other can of worms. Are they telling us a piece of Venom ultimately didn't get left behind? Was that Sony trolling us? Sure feels like it. Although your idea of dropping goo could make sense? I hadn't considered the Life Foundation considering they were the antagonists of the first film ... but if this is the end of Venom's story then it makes sense to bring this back to the first film. Hadn't considered that Toxin was the source of these new symbiotes. Somehow you have made this trailer a little more interesting with your theories about the plot. But I love the symbiote Horse, so cool! Chronology seems harder to place than Deadpool and Wolverine at any rate. And wow, another actor we know? Wild. Great question. So, I'm theorizing that the reason Vulture was sent to the Morbius post-credit scene wasn't due to Dr. Strange's spell (as it doesn't seem like it worked that way) and instead it was due to the Collider Event in the Into the Spider-Verse movie. In fact, during Across the Spider-Verse, they seem to allude to that because the Parchment Vulture is pulled into Spider-Gwen's universe due to the Collider Event. So perhaps Miguel returned Vulture back to 616 just like he did with the other villains?

Very fair concerns about the movie. Sony has messed up about every attempt they've made at a decent crossover, other than NWH itself, but ofc Marvel helped alot in making that a success. We'll have to wait and see if Sony finally got it right this time, but your concerns are very warranted.
