Thank you for the follow up, Brad. Your wise, matter-of-fact explanation was comforting. Paws crossed that the mom reunites with the 2nd cub.

Mother bears are truly amazing. Taking care of the babies searching for food and constantly watching out for the boars

Brad. You were there and have been there for many years I have seen.. I would trust your knowledge over any. Geographic differences in habitats and bear families/communities I would think affect different groups of bears ie: Yellowstone, Katmai, Canada etc. In my opinion you know these bears the best after being with them, studying and observing. Thank you for the update! them

I was under the assumptions that the males killed the cubs for food but also to get the mothers would go into heat for mating propose.
@bradjosephs5 ай бұрын
Yup, many people believe it, but all bear experts agree it is just predation
@nojorooney5 ай бұрын
A lot of other animals such as big cats and horses mostly do this only for breeding purposes and eliminating the competition while they are young, but with bears it is mostly only for food if I remember correctly.

I was just sitting here thinking about how much I would love to make a trip to Alaska just to see all of mother nature’s beautiful animals. But, I’m definitely packing!😂

Not on my trip you won’t. None of the guides carry firearms, and for ffs the clients aren’t allowed.

it's hard to watch but bears are apex predators, they got there by being good at hunting. I love the bears, respect the interactions in their environment and how they manage to carry on so successfully. We humans think too much sometimes!
@TR0UBLE-SH00TER5 ай бұрын
Your explanation. There is no consensus, even among biologists and nothing has been debunked as you claim. Truthfully no one can say exactly why that boar was attacking those cubs. Experienced opinions are fine, but that's all this is. Fantastic footage.
@lilyd10105 ай бұрын
That is absolutely true.
@lilyd10105 ай бұрын
Absolutely correct. There are 2 major "theories" n that debate will go on forever. Or...we could just agree that we imagine they kill for repopulation and/or hunger. Point is really, Mama bears are incredible n we admire their skill set n devotion. (IMO)

How do you know if there is a consensus or not?
@snappingbear5 ай бұрын
@@lilyd1010"kill for repopulation?", um, no one believes that and I'm not sure at all what you mean by two major theories? What are they and what scientific journals or proceedings are they published in?
@lilyd10105 ай бұрын
@@snappingbear So u speak for everyone? I didn't think I had to clarify - kill for repopulation of their own gene pool. As for the rest of ur questions, I said "(IMO)" in my opinion. Not a debate. I haven't claimed to be an expert

Eventually they find each other with in 20 minutes or less sometimes the cubs will baaa like sheep 🐑 or something in that nature and let the mother know I over here
@snappingbear5 ай бұрын
Not always, I've seen it take MONTHS. We also have evidence that females will abandon cubs as has been seen at Katmai and other locations. For example, after bear 856 attacked 39 and her coys she didn't reunite with them as a cub was seen in a tree long after the incident. We don't know if she ever reunited with them. A dead cub was found but no one knows if it was hers. She disappeared and didn't return to the area. She was seen the following Spring with no cubs.
@betsyduncan56065 ай бұрын
The bore kills the cubs so that the sow will go back into heat so he can breed her to produce HIS cubs, You are wrong it is not just for food. Food is a perk.
@bradjosephs5 ай бұрын
No it is just for food. And it’s spelled boar. 🤣🤣🤣
