I had the same happen a few years ago. I had an 85 year old gentleman in the rear seat. We were tied up in brush fishing with minnows. A huge boat full of drunk teenagers skiers kept flying by my boat. It tossed the boat up and down and my friend stopped fishing, got down from the fishing seat, sat on the driving seat and held on. On the 4th pass the yelled out "Bet you don't catch any fish now!" This lake is near Proctor, Texas, a Corps of Engineers Project. At that time I happened to have been employed by the Corps. I cranked up my boat and followed these drunk fools to their boat dock. These kids smarted off, like plày ground bullies. I pulled out my pen and paper and allowed them to observe me getting their boat ID. As I began chewing their assess out they started walking down the dock toward me. They got to within five feet and then abruptly stopped and their drunken mouthing ceased. All at once it was as if they instantly slobbered up. They began to apologize. Their eyes teared up as if they faced arrest. I finally stopped screaming, cranked up my boat and drove off. As my boat speed increased, I removed my baseball cap to keep it from blowing off and I noticed the big red castle. I was wearing my official Corps of Engineers cap. Now that I am retired, I still wear that red baseball cap wherever I boat.

@redraiderrider3289 As I said, I worked with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. I recorded their boat registration and boat dock tag information. I never implied or verbally stated anything of authority. Anyone can report incidents of dangerous, hazardous, abusesive events to project rangers. The cap I was wearing with the Corps of Engineers logo is given to employees. If the cap was viewed and caused disorderly youth to change their disrespectful attitude, then there's no need to play policeman.
@rickreed1702 ай бұрын
To add to my replies and replies to those replies....to add to the lack of respect from today's youth, regardless of how well they are raised it can go to hell in a hand cart when you blink your eyes A few years ago, Texas changed their laws related to your child's education. They gave a teenager the right to walk into the school principals office on their sixteenth birthday and quit high school. No parents or guardian can prevent it. But, the parents are still responsible any actions where damages results from the teenager.

I hope you knew their parents? Perhaps contact them and tell them what deviants they produced. Did you proceed with reporting the boat tag information to authorities? The only way these degenerates learn is by getting in trouble with the law and/or thoroughly embarrassed. By the time kids get to high school, it's too late. By then, they believe they have the same rights as all others. My father would tell me in a heartbeat, "the only rights you have are the ones I give you." He'd say, "you don't even know what (rights) are." We were not allowed to backtalk ANY adult, for ANY reason. If we had a problem with an adult, that is what parents are for. Today's young people are out of control, they will cuss out anyone. Teachers, Parents and even Cops. Just because their are some bad apple adults, does NOT give kids the right to disrespect them. I'm very concerned about what they are going to with this country as it gets turned over to them. THAT is scary!

That’s what happens when you get everything you want handed to you. My mom dated a guy on the lake but i proved i knew what i was doing and to this day they aren’t even together but i could go there and take the boat out with my friends if i wanted. This is some next level irresponsibility. Yeah if I’m pulling someone wake surfing. It is annoying to have to deal with someone fishing in the dead center of the lake. Ngl dude is a bit of a dick for that one tbh. Most the guys around here usually find small coves to go in and fish rather than in the open. However. I would never go up randomly and say some shit. I’ll just say “look at this dickhead” as he gets to eat my wake. No harm no foul and he’ll probably move by the time i come back because he doesn’t want to get rocked off his boat.

What is the deal with almost adults these days? They are missing crucial lessons in life. Because they listen to the adults they are exposed to in their formative years they tend to adopt their mannerisms and views on the rest of the population. The difference is, that young man's father might be somebody, might feel like he "owns" the lake. He might even put his hands on his hips and puff his chest out and spew a bunch of crap about how these lowlifes have no business on his lake and need to be run off, but the fact that his son runs around showing his ass and acting with some despicable sense of entitlement showing no respect for this man tells me that the father only acts that way around kids and other idiots who laugh and agree with him. That fisherman looks like a pretty big ol boy to me and obviously would not tolerate that behavior from anyone. That boys father needs to make that BOY understand the laws of "F@$K around and FIND out". There are far too many people in this world that would have never waited around for the law to show up. When you act like that around those people... you don't get to ramble on about how you "thought". You just get your ass handed to you by somebody that DOESNT CARE. The sheriff was awesome and what a moron of a kid like whose parents would let their kids at that age run their boat around the lake acting like that? I'd never let my son use my boat again if he ever was stupid enough to act like such a punk.

From the very beginning, the man fishing told them “if you think I’m doing something wrong, call the law.” If those boys actually cared about the rules of the lake, they would have done just that and not continued harassing him. One man on a boat being antagonized by a GROUP of guys is an act of intimidation.
@who63394 ай бұрын
The one boy said "I just thought it wasn't safe" while the guy fishing is running a trolling motor, and the kids are going back and forth @ 50 mph. can't fix stupid.

It is possible that a group of 7 teen children could erupt into violence or vandalism with no provocation. I don't know the boating laws here in Texas, but I do know that open carry and concealed carry is the law of the land, except under special circumstances. If an armed man is confronted by 7 near-adults anything might happen if he thought his life was in danger.

This is not a kid problem this is a parent problem and they raise their entitled spoiled brats. Out on a lake at 16 years old with an expensive boat and six of his buddies trying to be a big shot. The sheriff is right, he’s going to do it to the wrong person and the outcome will be different. Kudos to the fisherman. It a shame that everything you do today you have to record.
