*They read pieces of it and somehow know what it says? Does that make sense? To me it feels like they "have" all this knowledge about the scrolls except they don't have much to go off of. Are they just filling in blanks and calling it good? I don't understand how can we say we have all this knowledge about them because from what i can see there's barely anything there...*

A treasure map is worthless, without a point of reference. Likely knowing the location of the Temple would give that starting point. I think, if looked for, without bias, there is much evidence, that the Temple was located where the Jewish Quarter is today, not on the Temple Mount.
