As a Canadian, it never ceases to amaze me how amazing tomatoes taste in Greece. One can live eating tomato salad every day of their trip. Greece is so simple and basic, that it actually transformed my perspective of how life should be lived. Great video! You brought back so many wonderful memories of my journey through Greece.

I went to Oia about 9 yrs before you did and it wasn't as congested with people as you are saying (we went in high season too). We loved it, stayed for about 5 days in a Cave cabin, with is wonderful, would never stay in a hotel. But it seams like its got a lot more congested than when we were there. I did love how there is no through traffic, making it very relaxing. There was more dogs there then cats at that time.

well said guys. Travel is about the experience and the authenticity; not something to "check" off your list, so to speak. Get off the beaten path, see the real parts of the country and the people; I applaud you guys for always doing that; it's why you are my favorites!!

Great vlog! Santorini is our favorite place in our travels, it is stunning. We have been lucky enough to go 2x in 2010 and 2015. We stayed in Oia both times, going around the beginning of October. Less tourists at that time of the year, beautiful weather. When the cruise ships are in, it is extremely busy. We found however when the sun set, and everyone made their way back to the ships, we honestly felt like we had Oia to ourselves. It was so amazing. We also made very intentional plans when the ships were in, (you can find cruise schedules online) to be on other parts of the island. The bus is very easy to take around the island with the main station in Fira. Visiting the ruins in Akrotiri, or a beach such as Perissa made for fantastic days away from the majority of tourists. Heading back to Oia to our cave house, heading out to a great restaurant with the most amazing night views, are memories we will keep for a lifetime. I highly encourage everyone to go to Santorini. If you can stay for a few nights, even better. We have been to Athens, Mykonos, and Corfu as well. We love Greece, and hope to visit more islands, but will always include Santorini in any visit to that area. Have to agree with you as well about Dubrovnik - another one of our favorites!

You guys did the best thing Santorini: check out Oia, but ditch the sunset, and check out Imerovigli, vineyards, and some off-the-beaten-track places instead. The sunset is no different than sunsets anywhere in the world, yet the island itself is amazing. I second all your advice!

Poor donkeys :( it’s a really big problem in Greece. They pass their lives closed in little spaces and the only times they go out is to transport fat tourist in the sun. When they’re sick they just let them die and throw them in trash like disposable things. I’m Greek and I watched that happen again and again.
