Your videos are great, man. I've said it before. Found your channel via a video post on treasurenet some time back. I've watched dozens of people on youtube running the explorer-series Minelabs, looking for tips and tricks, (I'm a couple months in with an etrac) and your way of explaining LIVE signals is top of the heap. Looking forward to more.

tellmeitsnottaken Thanks very much for the positive feedback, I’m all about OLD COIN HUNTING. The less time I spend making fancy intros and “prettying up” the film, the more time I can spend trying to acquire the types of signals that will HELP someone to understand that deep or masked coins don’t sound clean and obvious. But, they MUST do certain things. The more time you spend with the eTrac, the more you will see WHY Minelabs processing scheme is second to none when it comes to doing this stuff. I’ve run single freq machines to coin hunt and done OK. When the Explorer came along...lights out. Same with the CTX. Analyzing a signal with simultaneous multi freq is simply more ACCURATE, and the 2 dimensional plotting refines the ID even more. For some reason, this Explorer and my CTX seem to LOVE working with discrimination. We are hunting a lot of places that have been worked for literally 45 years. To still pull old coins isn’t easy, but the e-series and CTX make it as easy as it’s going to get for now! Thanks again and TRUST what the eTrac is telling you, of course in conjunction with the basics!👍

I noticed a huge improvement in performance from my other single-frequency machines the first time I took the etrac out. I've run a White's M6 for a few years now, and it's an excellent machine that I would never get rid of, but frankly, the Etrac kicks its ass on deep targets. The M6 is stupendously fast and has great audio as well, (not bad depth either) but I about crapped my pants when, the very first time I took the Etrac out, I pulled two 9-10” wheat pennies from an absolutely HAMMERED park. It is a beast. Just gotta put a bunch of hours on it, I can tell.

tellmeitsnottaken We have travelled similar paths, I started with an IdXPro. Fabulous machine for many things, especially with the 5.3 coil, but like you, the results with FBS on deep coins was IMMEDIATE. People say the e-series are “slow”. What’s slow is the screen and how fast it updates the plotting and numbers. ALWAYS pay attention to the audio first, it’ll become second nature to know whether it’s a coin or not.

glad I've found your channel :) Just a question. You say at 2:28 about running wide open. Would going into Iron mask do the same? I ask as i don't fully understand Iron mask on my explorer.

Smiler Jon You got it Jon! Iron Mask is just an auxiliary screen with a way of setting a lot of discrimination, or not...but it’s limited to what you see...it’s hacking off big pieces at a time in a straight line. If you want to set up a more complex discrimination pattern, then you would have to accomplish that via the “Edit” menu with your main hunting screen. But you’re right, it’s not some “magical second level program”...it’s simply another “not as adjustable” second screen to hunt with, or to cross check targets with.
