Thia phenomonon happens because polluters produce some stuff called cyroconite, black dust stuff. since the albedo of snow is very high, meaning it reflects, but when this cryoconite lands on snow, it decreases the albedo cause black absorbs greatly, trapping heat, mzking the ice melt, the water is blue due to the rock particles in the water from cryoconite get in it.

@@Beni_Boi 😆 no. I think I can decipher that I wasn't actually invited to go, but I appreciate the irony in your comment, as "MF thinks I really believed I got an invite" 😆

I would love to explore this but I dont know enough about the possible dangers to actually do it. I would definitely have to find a good guide.

The glacial meltwater is crystal clear (well potable, but freezy!) and has a such beautiful turquoise color... It must be extremely cold, exactly zero degrees Celsius, the melting point of ice!‼️💦❄️🥶

Usually it would be around 4°C. Cold as hell, tasty. At least all mountain things are this cold usually

Once my parents got lost while hiking and my dad, who had some health issues at the time, ended up really dehydrated. They were out of water and came upon this mountain creek and were agonizing over whether it would be safe to drink, when another hiker walked up and started gulping water down straight from the stream. Years later after my brother and I were born, my whole family would go back to that creek on hikes and bring home bottles of the water to keep in the fridge and drink. Best tasting water I ever had
