when I was alot younger in my early years I used to wander around our acreage. we had forest and I would love exploring it with my German shepherd Nicky. we lived in the country so I never even owned a leash for her but didn't need one because she would just follow me everywhere anyway. miss those younger carefree days when life was so simple.

if you are worried about chemicals (wood stain, rot resistance). when you replace the wood, you can scorch the wood with some sort of torch. torched wood is fairly water/rot resistant. not 100% but much better than non "treated, stained". just a tip for the future =)

“Where there’s turtle pooh there’s turtles!” Never have truer words been spoken. Years ago when I was involved in a breeding program of threatened species w/Stony Brook Labs that was one way I’d locate (Eastern Box) Turtles in the woods of central-south NJ! I was so sensitized to the smell of their pooh I could literally “sniff” out specimens for radio-transmitter tagging! Another fool-proof method was to look for “V” shaped bite-marks made by the turtles in mushrooms that grew overnight. Turtles always love to come out very early in the AM after a warm summer shower. That’s when we’d go “hunting” for reptiles as kids during the summer on LI. Many roads in Suffolk Co weren’t even asphalt back then!

Hiya, Kenan…another question 🙋♀️! How long can the turtles/tortoises survive on their backs? Is just a wives tale that they’ll die if on their back?! I’ve been watching since the beginning, but just decided to ask the pro my goofy questions!!! God Bless and thanks for all the information and entertainment…Kamp Kenan is indeed a blessing for so many!! 💚🐢🐊🦎🐠
@apemangoape98552 жыл бұрын
Hey I’m not kenan but I can answer apart of your question so tortoises can’t survive on there back for to long the bigger the tortoise the longer they can stay on there back I have two Russian tortoises and the male has flipped on his back for about 5 minutes and he was fine but the reason they die is cause there organs are begin crush together and after a little while on there backs they will die
@LoveAuntieJan2 жыл бұрын
@@apemangoape9855 Thank you so much!! I just see Kenan walking around all the time, just flipping them back over…like no big deal! So, that’s why I wondered if it was a wives tale, that we were always supposed to flip a turtle back over if we saw one on their backs or they’ll die! God Bless and thanks for the reply! 😊🐢😊
