I can easily top your story of regret over your Peavey T-40. I had a mint 1978, natural finished, T-40 which I bought new and always kept in the hardshell case, it came in. I traded it in the late 80s for a leather jacket. To make matters even worse, the jacket was not a classic cut and color, that would stay in style for many years. It was burgundy and the cut was super cool until about the mid 90s, when the color and cut were dated and out of style. I later donated it to Goodwill. My co-worker, who was an absolute Funk master and he had convinced me that my Peavey was "Firewood", so I traded it to a different friend for the leather jacket and $100. Unfortunately, the Peavey T-40 is a greatly misunderstood instrument. Most people don't understand how to use the controls on this highly versatile bass that's capable of sounding like several different classic basses. Who knew?

Thanks for the insight! Your videos are great, and it was cool to see a low-key look behind the scenes. It was also nice to hear an update about the lack of content, but don't sweat that! Awesome collection, Patrick. 😎🤘🏻🎸 I personally liked the sterling stingray, the jazz bass, the blue p-bass, and the Harley Benton hz4000(too bad it’s discontinued). I also like the Epiphone explorer guitar. I’ve always been a big fan of explorer styled guitars and basses. I have a gallien-Krueger cx bass cab myself. I have a 1x15 cab and it sounds phenomenal. And I have darkglass pedals myself. I’m a huge fan of the vintage series and I own the vintage microtubes. It’s my most treasured bass overdrive pedal. I also own the microtubes x and x7 and they sound killer. Anywho, you got an awesome collection of gear.

DUDE! about that Ibanez EHB! I have an SRMS805 with the exact pups. I have upgraded them to Nordstrand BigBlade6 (the stock pups are 6 string pups). I also have a Ibanez BTB with the Aguilar DCB pups. If you want massive lows and super clear definition. Without any hesitation, go for the Nordstrand big blades. If you want the voice to be more towards low mids but still with a decent amount of clarity get the Aguilars. Yes it might be a pricy upgrade, but MY GOD those Nordstrand pickups do hit hard and sharp. The Aguilars have a massive amount of BOOTY (paraphrasing Marcus Miller) and very nice low mid growl. But the overall word would be elegant. Nordstrand's have a tighter low end but the highs are both sweet and nasty at the same time. Perfect to wake up a monster B string.

I highly recommend the seymour Duncan spb2 for the mim p bass, it's a tremendous pickup. It's hot but it is everything the quarter pounder isn't. It is extremely warm. It feels and sounds like it's crushing you against a brick wall. Like imagine your bass was the third boss from shadow of the colossus.
@DaCostaGuitars Жыл бұрын
This comment right here, sums up the SPB-2 perfectly! If i may hop on this train, My main Pbass, a parts build by me, I used to sport the QP SPB-3 pickups in it, but every time i found myself fussing with the tone. It sounded way too scooped for my liking, & would overload my gain/dirt signal to a point where it sounded bad. Replaced them with the SPB2 & never looked back. they brought a clarity to the sound, I'm a heavy hand picker, but if i don't dig in, they clean up nicely & sound warm & round like an old pbass would. Digging in, they let the dirt speak for itself, & doesn't overload like the spb3s did. I did swap the electronics from 500k to 1meg pots to open up the sound of the SPB2s even more (they are a dark pickup due to the overwind), & the 1meg brought more clarity back. Can't recommend more
@stevenhirsekorn3444 Жыл бұрын
@@DaCostaGuitars I like the tbx tone control with a 250k volume on my basses. I play fretless and I like it really warm, the tbx is there if I want more brightness. It compliments the spb2 well. It reall brings out the oomph of a fretless

But I saw your DT 700 pro headphones in this video and I would like to know if you use them for your electric basses and if you can recommend a cheaper one? . I would also like to know if you adjust your basses yourself or someone calibrates and adjusts them for you? . I am a bit new to all this and it would make me happy to receive knowledge from an experienced person like you, greetings from Panama.

I played bass since 1988. I have 2 bass guitars. One home. A cheap bc rich ive upgraded with some geezer pickups. Its really hard to play with. Do i get the extra practise with it. On rehearsel and gigs i use a schechter cv4 period. Its so easy to play with. I use a darkglass b7k ultra together with a boss od3. I get an insane rich overdrive with an full bottom. All cranked into a ashdown evo 800. I dont need 35 other bass guitars. I need 2. lol
