Regarding the Medical Card, I will say when I was in China, I did have a Medical Card like in the commercial. It acted more as card for logging in at the Hospital, and they still required identification to confirm it was me, but they did use it to access the account that was made that did hold my medical information and not matter what hospital I was in, they had access to my medical records. Something that was nice about it was that since I got bronchitis three times there when they told me about my scoliosis the different doctors didn't have to tell me twice because it was logged saying I was aware. They also didn't have to constantly ask if I was allergic to things because it was logged. That being said I can't say whether or not it was secured, but it was at least convenient for the few months I was there on as a volunteer teacher.

And to speak to the criticism of the idea from the video, While having a card you carried around with medical information has it's own set of security issues... the alternative of "stored on an internet database" has proven to be woefully insecure in the grand scheme of things... with tens of millions of Americans alone being subjects of medical data breaches online. Assuming sensitive information / information not needed by paramedics in an emergency was encrypted and behind a PIN or some other authentication check, the card in your wallet is probably more secure than relying on 3rd party IT security departments securing their internet portals and/or databases.

18:21 Yes, I remember when I was 9 in 1998...thinking about a new way to talk on the phone with video... also when watching Pokemon... how Ash would talk to Pr. Oak on a Phone but a video of him talking... I remember thinking that would never be possible in my life time. As a toddler you can't think of the future well since you're still so young. Look at me now... 30 years old and it took your video to remind me of my imagination as a kid!

Same here! It was Pokemon that got me wondering about video phones as a teen. Also some of the wild stuff happening in Digimon with technology

@@sombrashibe I've actually been wondering when the first video phone was mentioned in fiction. I wanna say "In the Year 2898" by Jules Verne, from 1898, which mentions what's basically a Skype call.

You should do a whole episode focusing on weird commercials you've found! I really loved this episode because of the old commercials. Keep making these please. I rarely laughed this hard.

That's what I love to see. This episode is the closest thing to a Nostalgia Critic commercial special, but with a fresh and calm style.

Just got broken up with in a long term relationship during all of this virus chaos and it's all stacking up very difficultly. I seriously, we seriously could use your wholesome positive content in times like these.

Y'know, I was thinking about making a joke about how "look how dedicated Ian is to record his whole video on VHS" when I assumed that he was just using a filter to make it look like it was a VHS, but I scrapped that idea when I found out he actually did it
