I unironically adore how Ian puts so much effort into every little aspect of his videos, but also randomly skips major steps while cooking (never measures properly) or makes things pointlessly hard on himself (using a whisk as a pestle, which makes crushing those chips about ten times more difficult than it has any right to be, for instance). Just a hilarious, frustrating, bizarre channel. I love it so much.

When I was a store manager the Doritos loaded were initially released as a 711 exclusive. They made us do a midnight launch for them. It was a big spectacle. I don't know what they were expecting but surprisingly no one showed up at midnight to celebrate the launch of a Doritos flavored mozzarella stick.

That's hilarious. Who did they even hope to appeal to? that moz stick recipe was sub-optimal. Here's how you should ACTUALLY do it. Take your doritos and blend some in a coffee grinder (preferably a clean one, or at least one dedicated to spice grinding) until it is a fine powder. Want to pump up the cool ranch flavor? Throw some dill in there too. Just a pinch. Crush the rest until the consistency of panko Add corn starch to your powdered doritos in a ratio of 3:1 dorito dust/corn starch. Mix well. Take your egg, crack it into a bowl, and add half a teaspoon of water and a pinch of salt. Do NOT forget the salt, this is important. Mix well. Take some FRESH wet mozzarella (not fake string cheese) cut it into a uniform shape and pat dry. Dredge in your corn/dorito dust mix, then into the egg wash, then coat with the panko-ritos. Now, you deep fry this at about 365-375F until it is crispy, and let it drain for a minute on a wire rack Or you can just make regular mozzarella sticks and dip them in ranch dressing.

Anytime you cook a smaller amount than they suggest you're goin to have all the heat focused on that singular item, vice versa if you put more it will take longer to cook them to the proper heat. If the suggested time is 10-12 minutes and the suggested amount is 4-6 then I wouldn't cook it any longer than 6-8 minutes at max or you're gonna have a blowout.

Wolfebane42 lays chips
@restinpeas12846 жыл бұрын
the reason they do that is because these things have to be transported across usually several states in a truck across different altitudes. the air inside a bag of chips can expand or shrink depending, and that can mean potentially damaging the product. if they fully filled the bag, it's pretty likely that depending on where it's shipped the bag could burst in a worst-case scenario or the chips could be broken up a bit which would mean a product that is below the customer's expectations in its presentation. This is also why there's any air at all in bottles of water or soda, because atmospheric pressure can be potentially disastrous when something is transported across long distances.
@geekoborabora6 жыл бұрын
Darrark I know that and you know that but that doesn't mean a) they're not taking advantage of that to give less chip and more importantly b) regardless of the reason, opening a bag and that feels full and finding it mostly empty is viscerally disappointing on a gut level the conscious mind has little influence on.
@seereebee6 жыл бұрын
Darrark The bag doesnt have to be fully filled, usually it's not even half way filled. They can still add more food and have enough air so it doesn't get damaged.
@Weareonenation3036 жыл бұрын
Weight all the chips you get in a bag, The total weight should be close to the gram amount mentioned on the front bag. You get what you paid for. Also like other people have mentioned, the oversized bags are to protect the chips from being crushed during the shipment process. Delusional? Definitely. Complete BS? Don't think so.

There seems to be a resurgence of my old favorite, the Chester's Puff Corn, which I only had seen as a kid in the late 90's at the Lake Meade NV general store, sold as fish food for the gargantuan bass that you'd feed like ducks; I only saw it there and nowhere else until now, when it started popping up in Dollar Tree and Cook Brothers here in Chicago. I mainly liked that it had popcorn texture without the annoying hulls that get wedged into your gums.

I love Doritos with a passion. I went to Wal-Mart and bought a pack because they looked spectacular. We went straight home with pure excitement and cranked on the oven. A few minutes past and the smell of rotten vomit came crawling from the inside of the stove. We thought that a mouse had died in our oven and started burning. A few more lengthy minutes pasted and the timer set off. We were starving by this point. Opening the oven door exposed the horrid smell like a cloud of smoke. We gagged. As we took out the 'food'. We set the 8 triangles of doom on the counter to cool. Eventually we grabbed a few of the demon triangles and placed them in our virgin mouths. The flavor that oozed out was a disgusting array of satanic fluids. "What the heck are these things filled with?" was asked our selves as we darted to the bathroom, clenching our poor bums. We've never felt the rage of 1000 demons purge through our bodies and into the poor unforgiving toilet. All I can say is that the plumber got a fat check.
